The Overlord, The Automata, and The Silver

Chapter 7: Arrival and Strange Interactions, part three (29)

What was strange about today for Viridael was that it seemed to be rather emotional charged. She had a rather deep heart to heart conversation with Nabe. After that she witnessed the village, she had saved with Momon once more, that was a bit of a shock. After those two things, she saw Nabe and Momon have a rather deep, yet short, conversation.

Viridael looked at the group of people in front of her making their way into the forest. After Nabe had a little bit of a cry and a heart to heart with Momon, they had made their way back to them. The others had asked about the red face of hers, but she simply called them insects and brushed it off.

All in all, it was a rather heartwarming thing to see Momon talk with his kids. Viridael hoped she could have kids like them some day. Though, she didn’t know how becoming a girl was going to affect her mind moving on, so she didn’t want to linger on it.

She looked on at the group as they started to go into the woods which were supposedly rather dangerous. It took all of three seconds to stop when Nfirea called out to the rest of the group.

“Hey everyone. There’s a magical beast in this forest called the wise King of the Forest. If any of you encounter him, run, it isn’t worth the fight. Besides that, he protects the forest from outside forces,” he told the lot of them.

Everyone nodded at this except for Momon, who simply looked on into the forest. He seemed to be thinking deeply about something. Then, he nodded his head as if he was done with thinking whatever he had thought of.

It was a bit strange for Viridael to see him simply not talk like this. Sure, she had only known him a week, but she was pretty confident that he would want to speak his mind when it comes to stuff like this. All in all, she was somewhat confused as to why he hadn’t spoken.

She knew he had a plan for spreading his prestige, but he must not want to give his plan away to the others in the group. Though, he would surely explain himself to her and Nabe once they make their way into the forest proper.

They then continued on with their adventure into the woods. Viridael saw some creature she would never have seen on earth with her advanced eyes. It was a rather relaxing and fun walk into the woods. Though, the rest of the group, excluding Nabe and Momon, seemed on edge.

Well, that was to be expected. For her, it was a leisurely walk, to them, they were in a dangerous part of the woods. Though, if she was being honest, the only dangerous thing seemed to be the King of the forest. Other than that, she didn’t really care.

In fact, this was starting to feel like one of those old Bethesda side quests you do simply because you didn’t realize it was a thing. But now that she was on the topic of Bethesda. What the bloody hell is with stealth archers? Everyone plays them, and they aren’t even fun. Everyone talks about how satisfying the stealth kill noise is.

But here’s the thing, it isn’t satisfying at all. The Garand ping was much more satisfying than the dull excuse for a stealth check noise. But Viridael’s thoughts were getting much more sidetracked than they needed to be.

They had made their way to a clearing in the middle of the forest itself and now were starting to talk amongst themselves about where they would be looking for plants and such. It was then that Momon decided to make his plan known.

“While you all collect the herbs and such, I will check the surrounding area with nabe and Viridael. If you all need aid, simply call for us,” he spoke out to Nfirea and the swords of darkness.

They nodded their heads at this despite being somewhat uncomfortable with their biggest hitter leaving, but they left it at that. Momon motioned for Viridael to follow him and Nabe.

That’s when she noticed that Aura was following them. She had felt that she had been following them since they entered the forest, but she had dismissed it as her simply wanting to follow her leaders or to simply see them. After all, she was a child, and children need their parents.

But now she noticed that she stalked them with purpose, and she was here for more than simply seeing her family. Aeskell took off her mask and circlet and looked to where Aura was supposed to be. She might be able to hide relatively well, but Aeskell’s eyes could see her like she was standing behind a thin curtain.

That was until she un-cloaked herself from the hiding prying eyes of Aeskell and Ainz. He took off his helm as well and looked up to see her on the branch of a nearby tree. Narberal seemed shocked at her sudden entrance of the floor guardian; though, she got over the shock quickly.

Aura began to walk along the length of the branch and started to speak at the same time. She seemed to find the fact that Aeskell and Ainz could see her while she was cloaked in a couple of ranger skills rather funny and, for lack of a better term, awesome.

She looked at the last two remaining supreme ones and smiled. She was overjoyed to be given a task by the supreme being and the one that had stayed behind. Aura didn’t really mind the newest of them, lady Aeskell.

As she was new, Aura had no real attachment to the older woman. She simply seemed like a nice person who seemed to care for them. She clicked right away with lord Ainz after all. If that wasn’t a sign that she was an actual supreme being, then she didn’t know what was.

“Aura, I want you to go and find this wise King of the forest and chase them here. I need to bring up the prestige, and fighting a supernatural figure like them would be a good way of doing so,” her lord stated.

Then she thought about something and said that though. She wanted the creature’s hide so she could maybe have a nice rug or something along those lines. Her lord said if he slew the beast, she could have the hide as requested.

She felt joy overflow through her as he said so. Lord Ainz simply was the best. She then spotted Lady Aeskell looking at her and lord Ainz with a slightly wistful look on her face.

“Lady Aeskell, do you need anything from the beast?” asked Aura in slight puzzlement.

She simply shook her head in the negative and made for Aura to leave and continue on with the job she was given. After she had turned away while thinking how strange the new supreme being could be, she shrugged.

“Well, be seeing you lord Ainz and Lady Aeskell!” she shouted goodbye to them as she ran off with her pets in tow.

As she ran deep into the woods, she tripped and nearly fell. But as soon as she did so, one of her pets came running from under her. She looked down to see her pet Fenris under her.

“Aw, were you guys worried about me?” she asked, and the other pet licked her with its long chameleon tongue, “well alright then! Lets go find that beast! For Lord Ainz!” she shouted as they ran off into the woods yet even deeper.

Sooner or later, she encountered a cave she had seen earlier and dismissed as unimportant. But now that her lord had told her to find this, Wise King if the Forest, she had an inkling that it was sleeping in there.

She took the dive into the deep cave and soon found a rather large sleeping animal. She didn’t know why this beast was so important other than its prestige going to her lord after he slew it but ok.
