Chapter 169 Part 2: The High Administrators
-----
My consciousness was quickly dragged to a fancy-looking room, something you would usually see as the office of a wealthy CEO.
Except that instead of a city, the windows led to an endless cosmos of stars.
As I appeared there, sitting over a chair, five figures were sitting on their own chairs in front of me.
I couldn’t discern their true appearances, as there were veils of cosmic energy covering their bodies.
However, each one had a distinct shape and form.
A large and muscular man, blazing with flames.
A little fairy girl with bright pink wings and a tiny crown.
A girl around my age is wearing a red hood.
A giant crow.
And lastly, a mermaid.
“So you’re here…” The crow spoke. “Good, I wouldn’t have preferred to drag you forcefully, that would have been unprofessional and unethical, caw.”
“Isn’t she adorable?” The red-hooded girl giggled.
“Despite her appearance, she’s slayed a Constellation…” The giant with flames said.
“Hehehe! You’re truly unique, huh? But such a headache…” The fairy said.
“What you’ve done has broken every rule possible in the entire Multiverse. Do you know how terrible what you’ve committed is? Deicide is a crime in every universe, and a mortal at the First Awakening slaying a Constellation is even worse!” The mermaid reprimanded me.
“…” I remained silent, hearing their words. “You’re the High Administrators in charge of the Realm Beyond’s Lowest Five Realms, right?”
The five Administrators glanced at one another in surprise, realizing I knew about them without them having introduced themselves yet.
Above all, I wasn’t afraid of their overwhelming presence. Which shocked them even further.
“It looks like you’re a resourceful girl. Has that damned jester told you about us already, caw?!” Sighed the crow. “Goodness, can’t we take a break? All across the Multiverse, we have to study and analyze potential worlds, deal with all sorts of ERRORS, and now you! Your world in particular came to barely pass as qualified for the First Awakening. You should be grateful you were not swallowed by the Void Rulers yet.”
“That goes beside the point, honey.” The red-hooded girl spoke. “Although you’ve committed grave crimes, because you’re below the protection of the Lower Dimensions, we can’t do much. I guess you guessed it already, huh? Seeing how you’re not afraid of us at all. There’s a thick wall of Causality protecting you. But the stronger you grow, the thinner it grows…”
“When you finally arrive in the Realm Beyond, you’ll have so many enemies that you’ll probably die the moment you step onto the First Floor.” Laughed the Mermaid. “However… laughing at your misfortune is not something we’ve called you for.”
“Besides… Asgard’s Nebula has gifted her the Title of [Hero], making her their Champion, so she receives half the penalties; she’s quite the privileged existence.” Sighed the crow. “Punishing you wasn’t why we called you here if you were ever thinking about that, caw.”
“What do you want, then?” I asked. “I know you’ve not just shown yourselves to intimidate me and tell me I’ve been a bad girl, right~?”
I crossed my legs, glancing into the eyes of beings beyond my own power but that I could face without any fear.
All four of them glanced at one another, and then...
“We want you to work for us.”
“Oh?”
This was getting interesting.
“Since a few months ago, the Veils of Causality have begun to fluctuate rapidly, the Worldlines are trembling, and the Realms are beginning to shake.” Said the crow. “The Void Rulers are hungrier than ever before. And it is our work to sort out worlds that are worth saving and others that go to their bellies.”
In a sense, what differentiates High Administrators from Constellations is a single thing.
They work for the Void Rulers.
They decided to gain stability within the Realm Beyond by not competing against other Constellations and instead being promoted to High Administrators, administrating the Higher Dimension and all Dimensions below it.
However, they’re chained by countless restrictions as a result. Despite their menacing auras, they are restricted by their "jobs,” and they cannot overstep their boundaries, or they’ll get "fired.”.
To keep their jobs and ascend their Administration Privileges, they need to do a good job, and the five guys in front of me, although very powerful, are the five losers out of a hundred High Administrators.
They want someone as strong as me to help them do their jobs better and gain promotions from the Void Rulers.
“I see, so you want me to ease your work pressure so you can show the other Administrators you’re not shit.” I nodded. “Okay, got it.”
“WHAT DID YOU SAID?!” The blazing giant roared, suddenly summoning a giant club. “This girl is getting on my nerves! Why did you think it was a good idea to invite her here?! She’s some sort of Devil or something!”
“Calm down, dear.” The mermaid giggled. “She’s just sharp-tongued. That’s all. I like her attitude, despite all the things she has done. It is not like Uroboros will be missed, but now that his Realm’s throne is vacant, a war over the Layer of Gluttony within Primordial Hell will soon come. The connected Hells are going to suffer their consequences as well.”
Based on what they’re saying, it seems they don’t know who is managing my System, and it is certainly not them. They probably don’t even know I have it.
Was it granted by an authority even higher than them?
Then, who is the Jester working for?
“Therefore, you want me to help you sort out worlds?” I asked. “How’s that going to work?”
“Easy, because of your actions, the arrival of the Second Awakening has been accelerated; in three months, it will begin.” The crow laughed. “Once that happens, Portals to Potential Worlds will appear.”
“And there will be a few accessible even beforehand.” Said the mermaid. “Worlds connected to your own through other methods.”
“We want you to go to these worlds and show us if they’re worth anything before being given to us as food.” Sighed the blazing giant. “You see, the more potential worlds we offer to the Scenarios, the more we are rewarded. The Void Rulers, despite their incommensurable hunger, still desire to see worlds blossom. They just can’t help eating them.”
So pretty much the same thing I’ve been doing for my Class and Subclass Rank Ups… To seek talents in these worlds and show that they’re worth anything.
Not bad; I thought they were going to make me do the opposite, to choose worlds that deserved destruction.
I don’t think I would have been able to stomach that.
“Okay.” I nodded. “I can do that, but only if you offer good rewards and don’t force me to do them. Ultimately, I need to choose the job.”
“Sure, sure, the rewards will be well worth your time and effort, Constellation Slayer.” The fairy laughed. “Now! Sign this.”
POOF!
They gave me a contract of cooperation, which, after carefully reading every tiny letter I could and after confirming several times that it was beneficial by changing it through negotiations, was signed.
“Done.”
“Y-You’re such a greedy mortal.”
“I can’t believe we agreed to such an unfair contract!”
“Are we even going to win anything? If she does nothing at the end,
“Don’t worry, she’ll have to. Her world, despite her feats. Is very mediocre. If she doesn’t work hard for us, that world will eventually meet its demise.”
The reason why I agreed to begin with was because becoming these High Administrators’ allies would allow me to save Earth, something that never happened in the original story.
For that, I plan to nurture certain worlds that will become our future allies.
“Now, give me the upfront payment.” I smiled.
“Tch…” The fairy threw something at me.
It was a beautiful golden ring, with a tiny blue jewel on top of it.
This was going to be the key to everything moving forward.
[The {High Administrator: Fairy Queen Titania} has gifted you the [Cosmic Ring of Space Shifting (??? Grade)] x1!]
It was a teleportation device. Very useful, despite the limits of its usage.
With this, I’ll be able to travel across the entire world and potentially unify talented people all around the world much more easily.
And it’ll help me get to the important places easily.
“It has been loaded with the entire map of your world.” Said the fairy. “It was quite the thing you asked for. If the other Administrators find out, we’re not going to get away with it as easily.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll use it stealthily~” I giggled. “Bye!”
As they made sour faces below their veils, I was teleported away, quickly opening my eyes, this time in the physical world.
FLUOSH!
The entire body and soul of Neberius were automatically absorbed into the Purgatory Skill, becoming a small black crow sleeping over a rock.
“Sleep well, little crow. I’ll use you later.” I sighed. “Now… To the meat and potatoes of the entire ordeal.”
A fight between Heisenberg and my friends was occurring right in front of my eyes, all while the skies above Stronghold darkened.
And the laughter of Beelzebub could be heard from afar.
“I shall become the new Archdemon of Gluttony, no matter what!” He laughed. “And this entire city will add to my {Epic}, so it can once more evolve into a {Legend}!”
The Souls of the Hunters that had died on this entire trip were absorbed by him, his powers growing strong enough to bring down a disaster that could wipe out the entire city.
BBBZZZTTT!
Millions of giant insect monsters began to descend from the dark clouds; their aim was simple: to annihilate all ten million people living in Stronghold.
It's time to put into use all the strength I’ve gained so far.
