The Roulette of Destiny: Reincarnated in the Pokémon World

Chapter 25: Nate

The battle was far from over. Ethan stood tall, watching Nate prepare his second Pokémon. Scyther, the pride of his team, hovered beside him, its sleek wings vibrating in the air.

Ethan could feel the connection with his Pokémon—a bond built on trust, hard work, and the countless hours they'd spent together. Scyther had grown faster, stronger, and more skilled with each battle, and this one would be no different.

Nate glanced down at the Poké Ball in his hand and threw it into the air. "Alright, next up!" he called.

The ball burst open with a flash of light, revealing Nate's next Pokémon—a Pidgeotto.

The bird Pokémon let out a sharp cry, flapping its wings as it took to the air, its gaze locking onto Scyther. It was bigger and more powerful than the Pidgey, but Ethan knew that Scyther's speed and agility would give it an advantage.

"Scyther, you ready?" Ethan asked, his voice calm but filled with anticipation.

Scyther let out a confident buzz, its claws gleaming under the fading sunlight. It was more than ready to face this new challenge.

"Alright, Pidgeotto, use Quick Attack!" Nate commanded.

Pidgeotto darted forward with incredible speed, aiming to strike first. But Scyther was already moving, its small frame darting to the side with such precision that it almost seemed to disappear and reappear in an instant. Pidgeotto missed, and Scyther was already on the offensive.

"Use Fury Cutter, Scyther!" Ethan shouted.

Scyther's claws glowed with energy as it slashed through the air in a rapid, fluid movement. The attack landed with precision, cutting deep into Pidgeotto's feathers. The bird Pokémon let out a cry of pain but quickly regained its balance, hovering in the air, clearly irritated.

"Pidgeotto, don't let up! Try a Gust!" Nate ordered.

Pidgeotto flapped its wings forcefully, sending a gust of wind toward Scyther. The strong wind blew through the trees, but Scyther didn't even flinch. It moved with such speed and grace that the gust barely affected it.

"Scyther, dodge and counter with Quick Attack!" Ethan commanded.

Scyther zipped through the air, narrowly avoiding the Gust, and then, with a burst of speed, it closed the distance between itself and Pidgeotto.

The smaller Pokémon's claws slashed across Pidgeotto's chest, landing another solid blow. The Pidgeotto reeled back, its wings flapping furiously as it fought to maintain its altitude.

Nate gritted his teeth. "Pidgeotto, use Quick Attack again!"

Pidgeotto tried to move in for another strike, but Scyther was simply too fast. It was like a blur of motion, darting around Pidgeotto and landing another well-placed hit.

"Finish it, Scyther! Use Fury Cutter one more time!" Ethan commanded, his voice filled with the confidence he had in his partner.

Scyther's claws glowed once again, and with a final, powerful slash, it cut through Pidgeotto's defenses. The bird Pokémon let out a final cry before tumbling to the ground, defeated.

"Nice work, Scyther," Ethan said with a smile, his gaze focused on Nate.

Nate recalled Pidgeotto with a frown, clearly frustrated but not disheartened. "You've got a strong Scyther there, Ethan," he said, a small glint of respect in his eyes. "But I'm not done yet."

Ethan nodded, eager to see what Nate's final Pokémon would be. He had already proven his Scyther's strength, but there was something about this battle that intrigued him. Nate wasn't the type to give up easily, and Ethan was curious to see what the last Pokémon in his team was capable of.

"Alright, one more," Nate said, tossing his final Poké Ball into the air.

The ball opened with a flash of light, and a new Pokémon materialized on the battlefield—a Growlithe. The puppy-like Fire-type Pokémon looked up at Scyther with a determined gleam in its eyes, ready to fight.

Ethan's heart raced a little. He knew Growlithe was strong, and its Fire-type moves could pack quite a punch if given the chance. But Scyther had an advantage.

Its speed and power were unmatched, and as long as Ethan played his cards right, he was confident that victory would be his.

"Scyther, are you ready?" Ethan asked, eyes locking with his Pokémon's.

Scyther let out a quick buzz in response, its wings vibrating in the air with excitement.

"Growlithe, let's do this!" Nate shouted.

The two Pokémon squared off, the atmosphere tense as the forest seemed to quiet around them. It was clear that this would be the final clash—the last exchange that would determine the winner of this battle.

"Growlithe, start with an Ember attack!" Nate ordered.

Growlithe opened its mouth, and with a burst of flame, it launched a stream of fiery embers toward Scyther. The flames crackled as they raced toward their target.

"Scyther, dodge it!" Ethan shouted.

Scyther darted to the side with blinding speed, narrowly avoiding the ember attack. The flames missed by mere inches, singeing the air but leaving Scyther unharmed.

"Now, counter with Quick Attack!" Ethan commanded.

Before Growlithe could react, Scyther was already on it. The Bug- and Flying-type Pokémon shot forward like a rocket, its claws slashing through the air in a blur of motion. Growlithe barely had time to react as Scyther's claws struck it, sending the Fire-type Pokémon skidding backward.

Nate frowned but kept his focus. "Growlithe, use Bite!" he called.

Growlithe's eyes narrowed, and it lunged at Scyther with its sharp teeth bared, trying to land a bite. But Scyther was too fast once again. It moved with such agility that Growlithe's attempt to bite was completely thwarted.

"Scyther, use Fury Cutter!" Ethan ordered.

Scyther's claws glowed brightly as it slashed through the air once more. This time, the attack hit Growlithe squarely, and the Fire-type Pokémon yelped in pain as it was knocked back.

Growlithe struggled to get up, clearly worn out from the relentless speed and power of Scyther's attacks. It let out a soft growl, shaking its head to clear the dizziness, but it was too late.

"One more time, Scyther. Finish it with Fury Cutter!" Ethan said, his voice steady.

With a final, decisive swing, Scyther's claws glowed as it launched one last attack. Growlithe, exhausted from the previous strikes, couldn't dodge in time. The attack landed, sending the Fire-type Pokémon tumbling to the ground, defeated.

"Nice job, Scyther!" Ethan cheered, his heart pounding with excitement. Scyther hovered triumphantly, its wings beating softly as it landed beside Ethan.

Nate recalled Growlithe, his expression a mix of admiration and frustration. "You really have a powerful Scyther," he said, offering a small smile. "I've never seen a Pokémon move so fast. Looks like I'm the one who needs to step up my training."

Ethan grinned. "Thanks, Nate. You've got some great Pokémon too. This was a good battle."

Nate chuckled, shaking his head. "It was fun, that's for sure. Maybe next time, I'll have something that can keep up with your Scyther."

Ethan nodded, still feeling the rush of victory. "Next time, for sure."

With the battle behind them, the two trainers shared a handshake, signaling the end of the duel.
