The Shadow of Konoha

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Sansho

"I really took the bait." For a lurker in a ninja village, exposure often means great danger, and the chance of death may even exceed 90%. However, when the information they want to obtain is important enough, sacrifice becomes a matter of course. Unfortunately, the whole thing was a hastily planned conspiracy. The so-called intelligence was fabricated out of thin air, and the actions and sacrifices of the spies gained nothing.

Tonight is destined to be a chaotic battle, not just between spies and Konoha ninjas, but even between spies from different affiliations. Who is the mantis and who is the oriole, who is the snipe and who is the fisherman? How can people at the center of the chaos be sure of what role they play - except for Hanyu.

He was the most exquisite decoration and the most nervous spectator in this dispute. In the darkness of the night, there was a faint sound of conversation.

"There are too many people here. Have all the spies hidden in this village been dispatched? Could this be a trap?"

"No matter if Konoha has other intentions or not, we have no choice but to launch the attack now. Even if Konoha has some plans tonight, the information source is at least true. Something must have happened in Konoha today. The atmosphere has changed. There is stability amidst the chaos... They must have received accurate information about the Nidaime Hokage."

"Then there is no point in saying more?"

"There's no point in talking any more!"

The low voices of conversation quickly disappeared, and then the sounds of weapons clashing became louder. It seems that the person who was just talking has finally rushed to the battlefield.

Hanyu leaned against the pillow, half lying on the hospital bed, listening carefully to the movements outside the window. The sounds outside gradually appeared and then faded away in just over ten minutes. You can imagine how fierce the battle was.

"Start clearing the area." This is Konoha after all. If the fighting gradually subsides, it will definitely mean that the village's ninjas have the situation under control. Hopefully, Konoha can achieve its goals, because they have already spread such rumors before, so the more the spies are cleared out, the better it will be for Hanyu.

In the darkened ward, Hanyu's eyes were darker than the surroundings. Only the moonlight from the window illuminated a small corner. And it was at this place that Hanyu had been staring at that a figure finally appeared. The man was wearing black tights and his entire face was covered by a mask. His upper body was stained red with blood. The moment he appeared in the window, the smell of blood filled the room...

From the physical features revealed by this man, it was impossible to tell whether he was a ninja of Konoha or an enemy, but Hanyu could understand that he was an enemy. So he stretched out one hand, waved at the man, and then greeted him with a smile, "Good evening, thank you for your hard work."

Hanyu did not feel nervous or frightened. Even though an enemy appeared in front of him, he knew that the weapon he borrowed from Danzo and was now tightly held in his other hand would not be used after all... At this point, the enemy could no longer cause him any harm.

This is the Konoha Ninja Village. There are countless Konoha Ninjas fighting outside the window. How could they allow the last remnants of the enemy to cause trouble? Unless Konoha itself intends to put him to death and is using a knife to kill him, would Konoha do this in vain? Hanyu feels he can just wait and see.

The enemy outside the window looked at Hanyu with malicious eyes. He must have realized that his mission could not be accomplished. Tonight was a trap set by Konoha. Trapped in a desperate situation, he certainly wouldn't mind dragging someone with him to be buried with him, but could he do it?

A feathered arrow flashing with lightning suddenly came and pierced his neck in an instant. The residual light flashing like electric sparks, the trembling arrow head and the gushing blood together put a red end to what happened tonight.

Hanyu slowly closed his eyes, knowing that he would be able to sleep well from now on. Not only because tonight's events were over, but also because Konoha was harmless to him... This village didn't seem to have any intention of getting rid of him as an outsider just because "you know too much".

Early morning.

The number of battles that broke out in the ninja village was not too many, but it was definitely not too few either, so most people in Konoha did not pay too much attention to the battle that broke out last night. However, eliminating spies was of great strategic significance to Konoha at the moment, which meant that the village had been guaranteed intelligence security for a long time.

The traces of fighting on the street have been cleared away. Apart from the faint smell of blood in the air and marks left by weapons on the walls and roads, there is nothing more to indicate that dozens of lives died here last night. However, no matter whether it is a strategic decision or a tactical arrangement, it has nothing to do with Hanyu now.

What has to do with him is that he received news in the morning that he could not continue to stay in the hospital. The village has made specific arrangements for him, and someone will take him away soon.

Because he was a little worried about his physical problems, Hanyu wanted to stay in the hospital for a while longer, but the medical ninjas seemed to think that his injuries and chakra erosion problems were not a big deal, so he was "permitted" to be discharged. The time he left the hospital was even faster than expected. Two hours after receiving the notice, the people who were going to take Hanyu away had already arrived at the ward.

"Hanyu Yu, child, come with me." The person who came was a woman who looked to be around thirty years old. She had a gentle appearance, a clean and easygoing smile, and an aura that made it easy for people to get close to her.

The other party naturally knew Hanyu's name and identity. "Yes, that's right." Hanyu followed the other person as he was told. It must be said that this person gave an excellent first impression.

Hanyu was alone and had nothing to pack, so the two of them quickly left the hospital one after the other. Walking on the streets of Konoha, there are all kinds of pedestrians, some noisy sounds, the sun that is not bright but seems a little cold at noon, and the empty and cloudless sky, everything seems very warm.

"It's nice weather, isn't it?"

"Ah? Yes, that's right." After a moment of silence, Hanyu realized that the other party was talking to him.

"I heard that it was you who brought the news about the Nidaime Hokage back to Konoha."

"Yes."

"What was he like in the end?" The other party seemed a little hesitant, but finally asked the question.

Hanyu recalled the scene at that time, and the figure in the blazing flames appeared in his mind. Senju Tobirama is a ninja himself, and the description "like a ninja" should not be used to describe him, but Hanyu feels that this is the only way he can describe him.

"Like a ninja... eh? That's a very appropriate description for that person." She paused, and finally a smile appeared on the corner of her mouth. What's interesting is that the other party actually seemed somewhat satisfied with this evaluation.

As the two continued to move, Hanyu noticed that the person she was following seemed to be of some unusual status, and many people kept nodding to her along the way. However, the topic of the Second Hokage was only briefly touched upon, and she seemed unwilling to talk too much about this aspect. At this time, the entire Konoha was immersed in the grief of losing the Hokage, and Hanyu did not think much about her reaction.

"The weather has turned colder." She coughed softly and put her fist to her mouth. I don't know if she was trying to change the subject or if the weather had really turned colder.

However, Hanyu followed her words and said, "Well, it's already winter."

"It looks like I need to prepare some clothes for you."

Hanyu's face became unusually embarrassed. He was still wearing the hospital gown and hospital slippers.

"By the way, you don't know who I am yet. My name... is not convenient to tell you for now. I am the director of the Konoha Orphanage. You can call me Teacher Sansho." She introduced herself. Since it is not convenient to reveal the name, "Sansho" should be a code name. In other words, the person in front of him should also be a ninja.
