79 Divine Mii-chan, Fascinated by the Flying Dragons

“I’m running a bit low on cash. If possible, could you buy the weapons and armor I’ve collected out of my personal interest?” I asked.

“Not just arranging funds, but a buyout?” the noble inquired.

“Of course, if you’re willing to give them to me, I’d gladly accept! But if I can sell these weapons and armor for money, that would be even better,” I clarified.

“Understood. I’ll make the arrangements.”

So, we headed to a large room where the Duke was also present, along with royal palace blacksmiths and several soldiers, including Karl.

I asked Mii-chan to take out the weapons and armor from her bag. Despite having sold some in the capital, I still had a large collection. When did I even collect so many?

Everyone examined the swords and armor with serious expressions.

“Repairs are needed, but many of these are excellent quality.”

“There are quite a few pieces that could be called masterpieces.”

“How did you acquire such a large collection…”

It seems like there’s a good chance of fetching high prices. I’m not sure exactly how much the initial investment was, but I had around eight million Ret when I left the capital. Since I’ve spent quite a bit, I estimate I’ve invested around five million Ret. I did give some to the Kobold tribe, though.

“Is it alright to buy all of these?” the Duke asked, clearly perplexed. He turned to the blacksmiths for their input.

“Even a rough estimate would put it at no less than twenty million Ret,” the blacksmith responded.

“If His Majesty doesn’t buy them, the Dragon Riders will,” said one of the attendants.

“Ah, but wait. The Royal Guards also wish to purchase them,” another added.

Oh ho ho… Four times the amount? With the lower-end items, you could probably buy a house with land! And I still have accessories and antiques left. This is fantastic.

They promised to have the funds ready by tomorrow after a thorough appraisal.

After making arrangements to return to the palace in the morning, I left the palace amid the maidens’ reluctant farewells. I won’t say who, but it was quite frustrating.

Before heading back to the inn, I decided to buy a tent. This time, a three-person tent should be sufficient. I stopped by a supply store on the way back, chose a durable one, and after Mii-chan gave her approval with a “Mii,” I made the purchase. The previous tent was traded in, but it didn’t amount to much.

Returning to the inn, I told the maids about our departure from the capital tomorrow, which made them quite disappointed. I repeat, I won’t say who.

I asked for an even more sumptuous dinner than the previous night. The meals prepared by a top-tier chef were indeed delicious, and I planned to store them in Mii-chan’s bag.

Dinner was quite the event. The food kept disappearing as quickly as it was served, mainly into Perro and Sera’s stomachs. It seemed we had two new “starving monster” companions!

“Yum, yum!” Perro exclaimed.

“Mii!” Sera agreed.

In the end, I divided the remaining dishes and stored them in Mii-chan’s bag. I had hoped to store more, but…

After a bath, the two maids were very emotional, fussing over everyone and giving them plenty of affection. Mii-chan was engrossed in an adzuki ice cream, which looked delicious.

That night, I lay in bed thinking this might be the last time I sleep in such a luxurious bed. I fell asleep feeling grateful.

The next morning, after searching for Perro, we had an early breakfast. The two maids, the manager, and the stableman reluctantly saw us off as we left the inn. It was a fantastic place, but it was too expensive for my budget.

We made our way through the city, shrouded in a morning mist with a faint sea breeze, heading towards the royal palace.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by two red and black dragon riders who eyed us warily. It was intimidating. However, walking confidently beside them was Sumire, looking very dashing. Despite being a girl, she exuded an impressive presence. Everyone except me seemed fascinated by the dragons, with Mii-chan nearly leaping out of her carrier bag to get a better look.

“Mii!”

“It’s a dragon!” Perro exclaimed.

“Mii!” Sera added.

“Grrr,” the large, imposing figure growled.

At the front entrance of the royal palace, the Duke awaited us. I dismounted from Sumire and greeted him.

“Good morning.”

“Ah, good morning. So, this is Nero-kun’s battle horse. It has a fine appearance. To remain unperturbed before our dragon riders, it’s something I would like our battle horses to learn from,” the Duke remarked.

The butler then handed me a large bag. Inside were gold coins—impressive, to say the least. I was instructed to verify the amount, but I immediately stored the bag in Mii-chan’s carrier.

“Isn’t there a need to verify?” the Duke asked.

“I trust it’s correct,” I replied.

“Ah, very well! Hahaha!”

At that moment, two lightly armored individuals approached from the side entrance and knelt before the Duke.

“Are you ready?”

“Yes, at any time,” they responded in unison.

“This is Nero-kun, the one you are to protect. As a friend of Annalise, ensure there is no disrespect.”

“Yes!” they replied.

“This stern-faced man is Martin, the deputy commander of the dragon riders. He will accompany you to Brocken Mountain and will help facilitate communication with the chief of the White Wolf Tribe.”

“Martin, this is Nero. Please take care of him.”

“And this spirited young lady is my niece, Elena.”

“I’m not a spirited horse, I’m Elena. Nice to meet you,” Elena said with a bright smile.

Martin, who appeared more stoic than stern, and Elena, a striking beauty with red hair (likely a cousin of the queen), both made an impression. Elena was playfully rubbing Mii-chan’s chin.

“If you like her, you can keep her. What do you say, Nero-kun?” the Duke joked.

“Your Highness!”

“Hahaha! Perhaps it was a bit too early for Nero-kun!” the Duke laughed heartily.

“I’m already eighteen, though…” I said.

The room fell silent, frozen in disbelief—an instant freeze more effective than my water skill. Martin and the butler both widened their eyes in shock. Was it really that surprising?

Mii-chan seemed to sense the awkwardness and looked at me with a worried expression. Maybe it’s time to head back…

“Mii…”
