The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 18 - Compensation

What kind of attitude does Jiang Hui have…

What else could her attitude be? She had no idea how to respond to the other party.

Because the real victim of this incident was no longer able to express any opinion; she might never have the chance to voice her feelings again.

Jiang Hui felt a complicated mix of emotions and didn’t quite know what to say.

However, it was clear that the person on the other end of the line was unaware of her internal thoughts. Seeing that she wasn’t responding or speaking, they assumed there was a connection issue or something else, and their tone grew slightly anxious: “Ms. Jiang… Ms. Jiang! Are you still there? If it’s not convenient for you, I can…”

“Hello, I’m still here. If you have something to discuss, you can speak directly here; there’s no need for a special visit. I’m not feeling well lately, so it might not be suitable to entertain guests,” Jiang Hui organized her thoughts and ultimately chose a more polite response.

She glanced around and noticed there weren’t many people nearby; it was relatively quiet. So, she decided not to move further and found a resting pavilion for passersby to sit down, planning to have a serious conversation with this employee who claimed to be from Hailusi Group.

However, her polite remarks were perceived by the other party as carrying a sharp tone of refusal.

They had already received news from the hospital that Jiang Hui had recovered and had discharged herself alone, suggesting that she was likely in good condition. Her refusal of his visit, coupled with her mention of not feeling well during their conversation, was essentially a reminder that she was completely a victim in this situation.

The problem was that with just this one card in her hand, he had nothing further to say. This was a responsibility that Hailusi Group could not evade, regardless of how the negotiations ultimately played out. They had to provide adequate compensation to this customer.

The customer was indeed very angry. No wonder the senior members of the after-sales department were reluctant to come, and instead pushed this young junior to handle the situation; they probably wanted him to test the waters first.

Andy seemed to have anticipated the next steps in the process—he would likely be scolded by the other party, have the call cut off, and then be kicked out when he attempted to visit, only to go through this cycle several times before they reluctantly agreed to compensation. By then, the injured party would certainly reach a settlement under the company’s sweet-talking tactics… perhaps in the end, he would be the only one left suffering.

Thinking about this, Andy, a poor newcomer who had only recently joined Hailusi Group, couldn’t help but feel a bit disheartened.

However, he still wanted to struggle a bit; he couldn’t just fall flat here—his career was still long ahead of him.

The other party might still be angry, and if he showed up in person, he might lose control of his emotions. It would be better to try to persuade her through the light brain in one go.

So, the young man mustered his courage and said to the girl on the other side of the screen, “Ms. Jiang, we sincerely apologize for the poor experience caused by our product. We truly feel sorry for you. Now that the incident has happened, saying more probably won’t make up for the harm you’ve suffered, but we genuinely want to provide compensation. We have even set up a special team to follow up and offer you a comprehensive compensation plan…”

“Quite a poor experience”—he should have said it was extremely bad, Jiang Hui silently scoffed. After all, if the current guess was correct, the unfortunate original owner had been sent off like this.

Moreover, according to Mr. Calet and Pharmacist Xu Jia, their products had quality issues not just once or twice. This time, it had directly endangered her life, and she had the right to hold them accountable.

Given all this, she couldn’t have any good impression or attitude toward Hailusi Group. She didn’t direct any hostility toward Andy because she knew he was just an employee; venting her anger on him was completely meaningless. The real giants benefiting from this situation would continue to thrive regardless.

She didn’t want to end up feeling uncomfortable and unsettled while the other party remained unaffected. Jiang Hui had always been a practical and action-oriented person, never getting tangled up in meaningless past events.

Since compensation was on the table, she was clear about what she wanted. In addition to material and health compensation for the original owner, she needed justice. Although it might no longer hold substantial meaning for the original owner… it still needed to be done.

So, for the time being, she decided to listen to what the other party had to say regarding their so-called compensation plan and see if they genuinely had enough sincerity.

The compensation plans had already been prepared on their end. Although the top-notch customer service representatives were reluctant to handle this situation, Hailusi placed great importance on soothing Jiang Hui and was determined to succeed. Before coming, the customer service team had prepared several progressive proposals for Andy, the point man, to facilitate the negotiation.

They would start with the most basic proposal, then add more as they went along, with the final offer being the best. Of course, the customer service team didn’t have high hopes, so these three compensation plans were merely initial drafts. The upper management had stated that they could negotiate further; as long as they could gain the other party’s forgiveness and avoid trouble, spending a little extra money wouldn’t be an issue.

After all, Hailusi Group had plenty of money, but the consumer protection laws in the interstellar realm were extremely strict—they didn’t dare to test the waters.

Naturally, they also had genuine intentions; opening the door to do business was all about serving the customer.

Seeing that the other party hadn’t interrupted him, Andy felt slightly relieved, knowing that she was willing to listen to him. Excited, he quickly took the opportunity to elaborate, speaking in a loud and clear voice, fearing that she might not understand.

However, just as he was getting into the flow, he noticed the girl slightly furrowing her brows. Her expression wasn’t exactly unpleasant, but it was subtly different, carrying a bit of pressure that made him feel a twinge of hesitation.

Ironically, despite his lack of decision-making power as a newcomer in the workplace, he was still a recent graduate who had managed to enter Hailusi Group on his own and had already completed his awakening. Yet, he found himself feeling somewhat intimidated by a teenager who hadn’t awakened yet.

At that moment, Andy genuinely felt like a failure.

He then speculated that the other party’s mental strength must be quite high. Even if someone hadn’t fully awakened yet, they would still possess greater strength than ordinary people in various aspects.

After all, he was just an ordinary C-level employee himself, working in a low-risk sales service industry. There was no shame in not being able to withstand her pressure.

The fact that he had been recruited into the group’s customer service department right after graduation was no small achievement. He might not stand out in other ways due to his youth, but his adaptability was certainly commendable.

He didn’t feel the awkwardness that newcomers often experienced; instead, he naturally and sincerely asked, “I’m not sure if Miss Jiang is satisfied with this compensation plan. We truly want to…”

“Excuse me for being blunt, but do you think I’m a fool? Or do you think that because I’m underage and don’t have a guardian around, you can just brush me off?” Miss Jiang, who hadn’t spoken since he began, interjected with her brows tightly knitted.

Upon hearing this, Andy felt a sinking sensation in his heart.
