Chapter 235 - T186 Team (Part 2)
In fact, they were arguing, but it wasn’t as casual or carefree as it seemed. It was actually a discussion.
The first to notice was Huan Xian. He sensed a different magnetic field around them and immediately became alert. However, he was always good at hiding his intentions. Instead of acting immediately, he continued to “argue” awkwardly, trying to maintain the appearance of a normal discussion.
Next, Jiang Hui, Zhou Xiuwen, and even Xierman quickly sensed that something was off in the surroundings. Some of them felt it themselves, while others read it from the expressions on their teammates’ faces.
At that moment, the four of them were more in sync than ever. Without speaking, they exchanged glances and silently adjusted their postures and positions, planning to use the enemy’s own strategy against them and show them how cruel the world could be.
To their surprise, although the enemy was reckless, they had some real skill. The person, taking advantage of the terrain, managed to avoid being immediately killed despite their combined attack. However, under their relentless assault, the enemy’s movements were soon locked down and they fell silent.
Jiang Hui gave Huan Xian a look. He signaled for her to remain calm, then slowed down his shooting speed, his eyes scanning the direction from which the bullets had come, trying to lock onto the position of the enemy hiding in the dark.
…Found them!
The four of them understood immediately. Following Huan Xian’s sights, they aimed in the indicated direction.
The trap had been set; it was just a matter of determining what kind of person their opponent was.
The person hiding in the dark stiffened, unable to move forward or retreat. He had been completely seen through by the enemy.
At that moment, he shared a brief moment of understanding with Xierman from earlier, both shocked by Huan Xian’s precise locking onto their position.
If it had been just one person, it might have been manageable. But there were four of them. A few of them were quite skilled with their shots, and the person had no certainty of escaping unscathed.
Moreover, the position he was in was easy to attack but difficult to defend. He hadn’t been thorough enough in his planning earlier, and now he realized the flaw. He was stuck: unable to advance, unable to retreat, trapped in the enemy’s attack range, unwilling to be killed so easily.
Thus, he became increasingly anxious. He really didn’t want to fall here. He regretted his earlier impulsiveness and had underestimated the others.
This stalemate wasn’t going to work. Jiang Hui glanced at the time. Since the total energy block had appeared, five stars minutes had already passed, and they hadn’t come up with any solid plan. Worse still, they now had an enemy hiding in the shadows. If they dragged this out any longer, they would likely be in serious trouble and needed to resolve it quickly.
Now, they had two options: one was to immediately eliminate the enemy, clear the obstacle, and then choose one of the methods they had discussed earlier to execute without further delay. There was no time to waste.
The other option was to bring this person into their plans as well. They were struggling with this dilemma, but now someone had appeared. It was like sending a pillow to someone who was already sleepy. This person could perfectly solve all their problems.
Regardless of who this person was, what their abilities were, or what their intentions were… as long as they subdued the enemy, their current problems would be resolved. Plus, they might even solve the ongoing issues with their team.
Of course, the immediate priority was to figure out how to deal with this intruder on their turf. Hopefully, the person was as easy to deal with as Xierman.
Jiang Hui and Huan Xian exchanged a glance, each taking a side. They slightly adjusted the barrels of their guns and fired almost simultaneously.
On the outside, it seemed like they acted calmly, but in truth, their palms were sweating.
They couldn’t afford to miss. If they failed, their entire plan would be ruined. Who knew if they would find another chance like this? Fortunately, their aim was as steady as ever.
Just as the person had barely moved his elbow to consider an escape route, an overwhelming sense of danger hit him. Two powerful presences, one on the left and one on the right, whizzed past his ears so closely that it pinned his movements to the ground in an instant.
It was too close—
A razor-thin line between life and death.
What was even more terrifying was that it was clear the enemy had calculated his position before shooting. They could have easily hit him, but instead, they chose this approach to send a message—to warn him that they had already tracked his every move.
What did they want to do? Toy with him?
The boy hiding in the shadows was both embarrassed and angry, but more than anything, he felt a deep sense of helplessness. He had lost control of his own fate.
Why? He had clearly sworn a long time ago to take control of his own fate, to rise above everyone else, without relying on anyone’s power. But why… why did it end up like this? Could it be true, as his older brother said, that he was just an incompetent playboy?
He was unwilling to accept it.
He really, really didn’t want to exit in such a dismal manner.
“I think you know,” Huan Xian said, “I could strike at any moment, as long as I want to.” As if to prove his words, Huan Xian began counting: “Hand, left leg, right leg… uh, a little off, but it’s fine, the neck… and the head.”
For each body part he mentioned, Huan Xian paused, adjusting his aim to lock onto the specified target. Jiang Hui stood by, alert, ready to warn him in case the enemy tried to make a desperate attack.
The person hiding in the shadows had his finger on the trigger, tightening and loosening it, ready to fire but hesitating. Then, he heard the calm voice from the other side: “Do you still want to try? Wasn’t my warning just now enough? If it were you, I probably wouldn’t give you a second chance.”
Hearing this, Xierman instinctively turned his head to look, but quickly realized that this was not the time to move, so he stopped himself.
He felt like he’d heard this before. A chance… give a chance? Could it be that Huan Xian had set his sights on this enemy as well?
This person was definitely not someone to be underestimated.
Although Xierman had only been with the team for a short time, he had already witnessed their capabilities. Throughout this journey, he hadn’t seen anyone whose shooting abilities could rival those of Huan Xian and Jiang Hui. And yet, this person, who had yet to reveal himself, had managed to survive this long without being killed, even in a solo situation. This was no ordinary individual.
Could such a person be recruited the same way? Well… it didn’t seem too far-fetched.
Moreover, if they brought this person on board, many of their problems could be solved. So, it seemed that this person’s arrival was perfectly timed—they were exactly the kind of talent they needed.
Meanwhile, Huan Xian continued his conversation, unaware of Xierman’s wandering thoughts. But, just as he had said, he wouldn’t give this formidable enemy a second chance like he had with Xierman. The conversation soon came to an end.
And the enemy seemed to know when to back down.
