The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 31 - Awakening

Jiang Hui was stunned.
Wow, this space actually has a built-in restoration bug; she was really gaining some insight here.

Does that mean it’s limitless?

Jiang Hui cautiously took out the only passion fruit in the fridge. Then she closed it and opened it again…

!

Sure enough, it was just as she thought. Jiang Hui stared at the sweet fruit, opening and closing the fridge to take out a dozen or so.

Ah, what a relief.

If it weren’t so stuffy here, she might really be able to stay for a long time.

While cooking her hot pot and sipping on passion fruit honey water, she couldn’t help but feel a little sad, thinking it would be nice to have some TV shows or movies to liven things up right now.

After she slowly finished eating and cleaning up, she fiddled around with some things, aimlessly explored the mutated computer, and played with it here and there until it was already ten o’clock. So with something to do, the time naturally didn’t feel so difficult to endure.

However, Jiang Hui really couldn’t hold on any longer. Since there wasn’t much to do, she thought about taking another nap. She had a faint feeling… this time might actually work.

So this time, she lay in bed with a relatively calm mindset and fell asleep in no time.

When the girl in the room fell asleep, the room returned to silence once again.

Tick-tock, tick-tock—

At some point, the mutated computer had already powered off, and the hall was plunged into complete stillness.

The clock on the wall now read 11:55, just a few minutes away from midnight.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

When the minute and hour hands finally settled on the number 12, the person in the bed instantly vanished, and the entire room crumbled into darkness in an instant.

Jiang Hui felt as though she had experienced a very long dream. In her dream, she found herself in an open field, seemingly being chased by a wild beast of unknown breed. Overcome with fear, she was unable to escape, and after running for a long time, she woke up gasping for breath.

Perhaps the quality of her sleep had been too poor this time; upon waking up, she felt a bit unsettled, her mind felt clouded, and for a moment, she couldn’t figure out what had happened in her life.

It wasn’t until she saw a ceiling that was both strange yet familiar that it hit her—had she returned to the starry realm?

Jiang Hui suddenly sat up from the sofa, glancing around her. Once she recognized her surroundings, she confirmed that she had indeed returned to the starry realm—from that strange space.

She felt a bit disoriented by this sudden realization and took a deep breath to confirm her current situation.

She really was fine after all.

“Ding ding… ding ding…”

Jiang Hui was startled by the sudden ringing sound, and her body responded before her mind could catch up, as she answered the light brain communication.

However, after connecting, she quickly regretted it because she saw the logo of the Hailusi Group marked in the top left corner. Now, she didn’t even want to see the other person’s face and just wanted to hang up right away.

After all, she still remembered how terrible the conversation had been with the group’s salesperson not long ago. Jiang Hui didn’t want to deal with this unscrupulous conglomerate again; who knew if talking to them too much would result in her being swallowed whole, bones and all?

“Ms. Jiang, wait! It’s me. I’m Andy. I’m sorry to disturb you again. I know this is quite rude, but could you please listen for a moment? It’ll be quick, and I’ll do my best to give you a satisfactory response.” The young man’s voice was urgent, but his words sounded sincere and much more pleasant.

Jiang Hui recognized that he was the same Mr. Andy who had communicated with her yesterday, not the employee from Hailusi Group who had bothered her that morning.

Given her relatively good impression of this young man, she was willing to spare a bit more time to let him finish speaking.

Of course, her patience with the Hailusi Group had reached its limit due to the absurd encounter that morning.

If they proved to be difficult, Jiang Hui planned to cease negotiations over compensation altogether and simply hand a lawsuit to the inspection team.

This kind of lawsuit was roughly equivalent to a prosecution on Blue Star, but the interstellar process was more straightforward. There weren’t as many bureaucratic hurdles to navigate, and there was no need to submit extensive documentation.

The inspection bureau had already conducted a related investigation earlier, and it was logged in their system.

As long as Jiang Hui did not agree to a settlement, the inspection bureau would directly send the lawsuit to the Hailusi Group. The group would be required to compensate Jiang Hui according to the standards set by interstellar law.

Furthermore, the inspection bureau would issue relevant administrative penalties against the Hailusi Group, which would be recorded in the interstellar court. This outcome was something that all businessmen dreaded, as it would severely impact the conglomerate’s reputation. Consequently, the Hailusi Group had been eager to resolve this matter peacefully.

Jiang Hui had no intention of sharing this with Andy; no matter how good her impression of him was, he was still an employee of the Hailusi Group. Who knew what he might say to the conglomerate?

However, the other party’s call now revealed some unusual information.

Jiang Hui’s thoughts were racing, but she did not show it on her face; instead, she maintained a calm expression, quietly watching the young man as if she wanted to hear what he had to say.

Andy genuinely felt that this past year had been quite unlucky for him. It was one thing to join such an unreliable and unscrupulous company, but he was constantly bullied and exploited by the older guys in his department. He spent his days doing unworthy work that went against his conscience, all while worrying about the possibility of retribution one day.

In the end, he was forced into handling this messy case, dealing with this troubling farce.

He truly admired Ms. Jiang, but at the same time, he felt an immense pressure from her. Although she was still a partially awakened individual, the pressure she exerted was comparable to that of several leaders.

During their conversation, he always felt a sense of difficulty in navigating the discussion. He believed that no matter what he said, it would be hard to deceive or manipulate her—though he hadn’t initially intended to do so, he still felt a bit insecure.

This proved that people are indeed different from one another.

Yet, despite how difficult it was to endure, he had to bite the bullet. Yesterday, due to some issues, he had a very unpleasant confrontation with the Hailusi Group, and in a fit of anger, he submitted his resignation. He didn’t follow up on any further matters, as he believed he had already communicated Jiang Hui’s intentions clearly. Regardless of how incompetent the group was, they should be able to handle it.

He had thought he would be left hanging for a while, but unexpectedly, the company responded fairly quickly. Today, they suddenly sent a message saying it was possible, but the condition was that he had to help handle matters related to Jiang Hui.

Once he finished coordinating with Jiang Hui, he could resign, and the group would give him a considerable bonus. So even though he felt somewhat embarrassed, Andy still steeled himself and came over.

Thinking about it, he truly felt a bit sorry for Ms. Jiang.
