The Strongest Brain in the Interstellar

Chapter 8 - The Interstellar World (Part 1)

Due to her questioning and suspicions, Jiang Hui was pushed into the emergency room by a flurry of medical staff in a state of panic.

Then, five or six people hurriedly surrounded Jiang Hui on the emergency table to conduct examinations.

This time, it truly felt like “being on the chopping block”—as soon as she was placed on the emergency table, she was restrained and fitted with something resembling an oxygen mask, leaving her with no room to resist.

The medical staff took turns putting various things on her head, hanging devices on her waist, and even examining her fingers one by one, seemingly sticking things without a care. She felt like a dead fish being flipped over and over, with the constant “beep beep” of machines ringing in her ears.

“Are the test results in yet?”

“They just came in, but that was a superficial test. Her questions just now clearly indicate memory loss, possibly due to functional damage caused by brain lobe injury…” It seemed that her earlier inquiries were interpreted by them as signs of amnesia resulting from her head injury.

“What are her current brainwaves?”

“It seems there’s no problem. She appears to be a bit agitated. Oh, now it’s fluctuating violently again…” Oh, that’s because I’m excited by what you’re saying.

“The blood analysis I conducted shows no issues. Her blood concentration and all aspects are within normal standards, though she is slightly malnourished.”

“I also… have a problem. Her heart has a slight issue; it may need to be opened up for treatment. But it’s just a minor issue and should be treated quickly. If it really doesn’t work, we can replace it with a Hertos series product…”

“What’s going on? Why is her emotional state so agitated? The mental strength indicator is exceeding the normal range for an unawakened individual, which is highly unusual. Her heart rate is abnormally fast. Look, she seems to be convulsing; it might be due to oxygen deficiency. Quickly, give her oxygen—”

Jiang Hui: … Am I scared or what?!

What does it mean that my heart has a slight problem, and what do you mean by artificial replacement “products”? I’m a human being! Stop describing it like you’re fixing a car…

The strange instruments, the seemingly out-of-date terminology, the environment beyond ordinary understanding, and all the experiences since waking up in that bizarre room… everything was telling her that there was some extraordinary and earth-shattering change happening.

Jiang Hui had a strong premonition that she seemed to no longer be in the familiar world she knew.

Lying on the rescue table, being “rescued” by various so-called instruments, she gradually sank into a drowsy state, already fatigued.

In her dreams, she began to dream.

Jiang Hui sometimes felt that there was indeed a certain theatricality to her life.

Born into an ordinary, happy family, she suddenly faced an unexpected disaster that tore her family apart, leaving her alone in the world. After struggling to grow up and leave school, she finally got a good opportunity, only to have it slip away due to natural disasters and man-made calamities, forcing her to find any job just to survive.

Just as she was reluctantly accepting her fate and preparing to make a big splash in an industry she never expected to be in, she inexplicably found herself here…

Heaven help her, can someone please tell her what has happened that would bring a Blue Star person to an interstellar age hundreds of thousands of light-years away?

Yes, after the doctors’ urgent treatment just now, she finally “recalled” some memories—or perhaps she quickly skimmed through the remnants of the memories left in this body.

The memories are of a little girl living a carefree life on a planet in the inner star system. She grew up in a happy family, adored by her parents, only to lose everything in an unfortunate accident.

Her guardianship temporarily fell to her extended family, waiting for other distant relatives to adopt her. However, a week ago, after her second awakening, her mental strength did not improve; it remained at the level it had reached during her first awakening.

As a result, she was deemed to have low potential and limited value for cultivation by the upper echelons of her family. According to family regulations, she could choose to stay within the family and wait for allocation, but her original resources would have to be reduced.

The original body may have had her own thoughts and chose a different path, leaving the family to go to a lower-level star system, thus receiving a large settlement fee all at once. However, this choice effectively severed her ties with the family, meaning she would no longer enjoy the usual support from them and would forfeit all future resources.

Those family members who had their household registration transferred to the collective user were quite independent; even if the family were to face punishment, they might not be implicated, and the relationship was severed quite cleanly.

Of course, she severed more than just her connections; it wasn’t as simple as leaving the inner star system. Her choice caused her to lose many potential options that she might have had.

Perhaps for some people, the original body’s choice seemed very childish. She picked up sesame seeds but dropped watermelons, impulsively ruining what could have been a promising future.

But for the current Jiang Hui, it was a great fortune, as it spared her from directly facing the major issue of encountering the original body’s acquaintances.

Jiang Hui’s intuition was indeed correct; she was no longer on Blue Star. She had arrived in a different world that had already developed into an interstellar era.

She was no longer the Jiang Hui from Blue Star, but rather Jiang Hui, a citizen born on the planet RB690 in the inner star system.

She had crossed over.

Jiang Hui found it hard to digest this news. The sudden memories that appeared in her mind felt like blurry television images, making it difficult to relate them to herself.

While she was deep in thought, someone entered the room.

This time, it wasn’t her previous acquaintance, Frey, but rather another, older physician.

As soon as he entered, he saw her half-leaning against the bed, seemingly in a daze.

“Ms. Jiang,” he called out, instantly capturing Jiang Hui’s attention.

“Hello,” she hesitated for a moment and greeted him in the language she remembered.

In fact, Jiang Hui should have realized something was wrong long ago. Ever since she arrived here, she had been using the interstellar common language to communicate with others. This was an instinct left over from the brain of this body, preventing her from becoming mute and deaf right from the start.

However, her ability to understand and speak was an instinctive reaction despite her slightly chaotic mental state. Now that she was awake and had accepted the memories, she was able to differentiate clearly between the two languages in her mind. After all, these were two language systems with completely different phonetic rules.

“Hello, I am your primary physician, He Calet, responsible for your treatment,” he said, naturally extending his hand to her.

This was a very Westernized form of etiquette, rarely used in her previous world. Unexpectedly, now that she had become a minor again in this place, it seemed she would have to use it; apparently, it was quite a common practice here.

Jiang Hui shook his hand awkwardly, making an effort to conceal her unfamiliarity with this world.
