Chapter 619 - 613: The Secret of Dragon Taming
Chapter 619: Chapter 613: The Secret of Dragon Taming
After a moment’s hesitation, David Jones decided to test the waters with the strengthening power of Dragon-Wielding. His right hand sped up suddenly, touching the head of the Firewood Kylin at the speed of lightning.
“Roar!”
The Kylin, feeling insulted, erupted in a terrifying yet spectacular flame.
The next second, the glyphs on the surface of the silent firestone cage lit up, and the flames that had been gathering inside the cage instantly dispersed.
The thoroughly suppressed Firewood Kylin could only lift its right claw in anger and fiercely swipe at David Jones’s palm.
“Clang!” A sound of metal striking stone rang out.
The Firewood Kylin lifted its head subconsciously and discovered that its strike, capable of shattering stone and bending metal, hadn’t left the slightest mark on David Jones’s palm, as if it had hit an iron wall.
“How can a mere human possess such power?”
The Firewood Kylin, devoid of its previous casualness, looked at David Jones more seriously.
With its intelligence, it knew well that David Jones’s action bore no malice, but the pride of the Emperor race and the descendants of the sacred spirits did not allow it to submit to any being.
Thus, the Kylin had put its full force behind that swipe in an attempt to shatter David Jones’s delusion of taming it, not expecting the latter to have some real strength.
“Worthy of being renowned as the ultimate fire and an auspicious beast of heaven and earth, the Firewood Kylin! Despite its strength being greatly suppressed by the silent firestone cage, it could still unleash a strike on par with a Class VI King with the strength of a lower-level Class IV!”
Feeling a faint pain on his palm, David Jones inwardly gasped and his gaze towards the Kylin grew even more fervent.
“Roar!” (Not that look again!)
The Firewood Kylin gave a low growl and slowly closed its eyes, choosing to ignore David Jones by pretending not to see.
From the recent probing, it understood that David Jones was not simply a talented individual from the human race, but one of the very few monstrous geniuses who could compete with the Emperor race and mythical beasts.
Unless it could break free from its shackles, it stood no chance against David Jones under the suppression of the silent firestone cage.
Let him covet its body all he wants, reasoned the Firewood Kylin, conceding in this way; it did not believe that David Jones would dare to hurt or even kill it.
David Jones looked at the Firewood Kylin pretending to sleep, a trace of helplessness in his eyes.
This guy was really difficult to deal with; even the enhancement of Dragon-Wielding powers couldn’t shake it.
“Yi!”
Rainbow held out an Evil-eyed Dark Scorpion’s eye to David Jones, intuition telling her it was something valuable.
“What is this supposed to be, a good thing? Hurry up and throw it away, don’t dirty your hands!” David Jones quickly warned.
The eye left behind by an Evil-eyed Dark Scorpion after its death had the power to transform normal Beasts into Mysterious Beasts. For the latter, it was an SS tier elixir, but for other Beasts, it was an exceedingly toxic source of pollution.
Hearing this, Rainbow reluctantly handed the Evil-eyed eye to Daphne.
Armed with the Destiny Flame, Daphne could easily burn and cleanse the difficult Mystery Power, unlike Rainbow, who would need to painstakingly freeze and annihilate it with the Power of Heavenly Frost.
David Jones turned his head to look at the lifeless Soul-Refining Bodhi Tree sapling.
Given the Firewood Kylin’s resistance, he could forget receiving the Kylin’s Blessing and now could only place his hopes on the Soul-Refining Bodhi Tree sapling.
At the moment, a dense pile of Mysterious Beasts’ eyes had accumulated on the soil, forming a small mound and emitting a strong Mystery Power.
“Daphne, use the Sacred Flame to interrupt the mystification process of the Bodhi Tree!”
Having said that, David Jones activated his Illusion-Piercing Eye, staring intently at the Bodhi Tree where the silver Sacred Flames were burning.
“Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!”
Under the scorching of the Destiny Flame, countless Evil-eyed Dark Scorpions turned to ash, but the intense heat also caused the Bodhi Tree sapling to show signs of wilting.
Realizing this, David Jones hurriedly commanded Daphne to stop the act of burning the Bodhi Tree.
“Why stop now when this auspicious plant of heaven and earth is beyond saving? Burning it to ashes is the best ending,” said the Firewood Kylin, lying nearby with its eyes closed.
Hearing this, David Jones found it hard to accept and subconsciously looked towards the Firewood Kylin.
“Is there really no other way?”
“If you could persuade an Immortal to help or if you had a Treasured Bodhi Tree, there might be a sliver of hope for salvation, otherwise, don’t waste your time,” yawned the Firewood Kylin, making a double entendre.
The Kylin species only submits to beings of Immortal status. Not to mention the lad in front of it, even the legendary warrior behind him wouldn’t qualify to subdue it.
However, if the other party possessed a Treasured Bodhi Tree that could aid a Kylin’s enlightenment, it might consider it.
“So this is all you are capable of,” David Jones let out a breath of foul air, purposely revealing a hint of mockery at the corners of his mouth.
“What do you mean by that?” The Firewood Kylin opened both eyes, its tone carrying a trace of anger.
“A person’s stature lies not in his strength but in his state of mind; one cannot exist without the other.”
Having said that, David Jones paused slightly, “As for the waste of time you mentioned, I’ve never failed in anything I’ve set out to do.”
The Firewood Kylin fell silent for a moment before letting out a scornful laugh unexpectedly, “Who do you think you are! Empty words are easy to speak.”
“Whether or not I am, you can witness with your own eyes,” David Jones glanced at it calmly and then focused his attention back on the Bodhi Tree.
“Trying to provoke me on purpose? Your tactic is a bit too crude,” the Firewood Kylin slowly got up.
Yet David Jones ignored it and pushed his Illusion-Piercing Eye to the limit.
“Interesting, you should know the formidable strength of Kylin’s Blessing! If you can save the Bodhi Tree, I will bless you once; otherwise, how about you let me leave?” it spoke again.
David Jones remained silent, his Arcane Force bursting forth, and his sharp eyes seeming to see through the Bodhi Tree.
Seeing this, the ignored Firewood Kylin couldn’t help but slap its claw on the cage in front of it, causing a loud rumbling noise.
“I have things to do right now, so keep it down!”
David Jones gave it a cold glance, indicating his bottom line.
“Regardless of what you think, the fact is I saved your life from the Evil Trainer and I won’t let you go until you repay the life-saving debt!”
At these words, the Firewood Kylin was momentarily at a loss for words.
It knew all too well how terrifying humans could be when they turned evil; its status as an auspicious beast was almost no threat in front of a deranged Evil Trainer—the mystified Bodhi Tree was proof of that, so the claim of a life-saving grace didn’t pose much of an issue.
But if it weren’t for the legendary human forcefully taking it away, it wouldn’t have been targeted by the Evil Trainer.
Thinking this, the Firewood Kylin lay down with a solemn expression, curious to see how the boastful David Jones would attempt to save the Bodhi Tree sapling!
Seeing the Firewood Kylin stand down, David Jones also breathed a sigh of relief internally.
He had grown accustomed to dealing with tame Dragon Pets with more agreeable attitudes. Suddenly facing someone as arrogant as the Firewood Kylin, he indeed didn’t quite know how to respond,
so David Jones had to follow the method described in the dragon-taming manual to subdue it, adopting an even more arrogant attitude to incite the Kylin’s anger and curiosity, planning to gradually draw out an emotional bond between them in their future interactions.
