Chapter 34: The Power To Cross Worlds
"Kashiwagi Eri: Before anything else, the most important thing now is to figure out the flow of time between worlds so we can make preparations in advance."
"Arifureta (Group Leader): According to what you said before, if the check-in reset time is one day, then the time flow should be the same across all members' worlds."
"Chika Fujiwara: Right, on my side, I can check in again after a whole day has passed."
[Ding, Guideline for Time Flow in Members' Worlds.]
[① The time flow is the same across all members' worlds.]
[② When using an Cross-Boundary Talisman to travel to a member's world, the time flow in both worlds is synchronized.]
[③ When the chat group issues a task, the member's world will be paused during their mission in another world and will resume once they return.]
"Chika Fujiwara: Here we go; I knew the chat group would make an announcement. Whenever Eriri has a question, it rushes to explain. I really suspect this chat group has a consciousness, and it's a simp."
[Ding, Chika Fujiwara has been muted for 24 hours.]
"Kashiwagi Eri: ..."
"Arifureta (Group Leader): ???"
"Asuna: Eh? Why did the leader mute Chika-chan?"
"Archangel Gabriel: Oh... Is this the so-called privilege dog?"
"Arifureta (Group Leader): No... I didn't mute her! I'm confused too. Isn't muting a privilege exclusive to the leader?"
Arifureta was baffled; she never expected something like this. Could it be that she wasn't the real leader after all?
"Arifureta (Group Leader): Eriri, be honest. Did you mute Chika-chan? Do you also have muting privileges?"
"Kashiwagi Eri: It wasn't me! I didn't! Don't make stuff up! This has nothing to do with me!"
Eriri was telling the truth. Although the chat group treated her well, it hadn't given her admin privileges. Perhaps, in the chat group's view, these privileges were unnecessary for Eriri.
"Arifureta (Group Leader): Uh... Could it be the chat group muted her on its own? Scared.jpg"
"Asuna: Scared.jpg"
"Arche Eeb Rile Furt: Scared.jpg"
"Archangel Gabriel: +1"
...
After confirming that the time flow was consistent across all members' worlds, Eriri decided to take a few days off from school. Although the school year had just begun, it wouldn't be difficult for her to secure a few days off given her status.
"Mom, please help me take a few days off from school," Eriri said directly to Sayuri when she came downstairs to the living room.
Sayuri set aside her manga, curious, "What do you need the time off for?"
Eriri didn't bother hiding anything and replied, "I want to spend a few days in another world."
"Another world? You mean..."
"Yes, the kind of world you're thinking of."
This piqued Sayuri's interest, and she couldn't remain seated. Being a devoted otaku herself, she had always wanted to see another world. She had no doubts about Eriri's ability to travel between worlds. She jumped up from the sofa, rushed to Eriri's side, and gently shook her right arm, pleading, "Eriri, take Mom with you!"
"Well... I can't take a second person to another world right now," Eriri shrugged helplessly but added, "Just because I can't now doesn't mean I won't be able to later. Don't worry, Mom, there will definitely be a chance to take you to another world in the future."
"Then it's settled," Ms. Sayuri agreed, understanding and dropping the subject.
After a brief pause, she asked, "How long will you be gone?"
Eriri thought for a moment and replied, "Please arrange a week off for me. Seven days should be plenty. Also, come up with an excuse to cover for me with Aoi."
"Okay, leave it to Mom. Be sure to stay safe in the other world."
Eriri confidently patted her chest, saying, "Don't worry, I'm super strong. I can handle anything in the other world."
With that, Eriri returned to her room.
"I should tell Megumi, so she doesn't worry. As for the promise to take her on a trip to another world, it will have to wait for now."
...
With all preparations in place, Eriri took out the mysterious Cross-Boundary Talisman from the chat group's storage space.
"Kashiwagi Eri: Yue-chan, are you ready? I'm about to come over."
"Arifureta (Group Leader): Hurry up! I can't wait any longer."
The method to use the Cross-Boundary Talisman was explained in the group store. Simply hold the talisman and mentally say the word "use," and the destination would be the member's side.
"Use the Cross-Boundary Talisman," Eriri mentally commanded.
The talisman floated up from her hand, glowing brightly, as intricate patterns detached and enlarged, tracing specific paths in mid-air.
Eriri felt a sensation akin to the tearing of space in the air before her. In an instant, the patterns and the talisman itself vanished, forming a rectangular white passageway that could accommodate one person.
Driven by curiosity, Eriri stepped into the passageway without hesitation.
Upon entering, she was enveloped in a profound energy that seemed to sustain this world-crossing passage.
Her invincible physique began to absorb the mysterious energy, integrating it into her body swiftly. Unfortunately, the time was too short, and the mysterious force dissipated as soon as Eriri stepped out of the passage.
Since it allowed travel between worlds, it could be called the "World-Crossing Power."
Even absorbing just a little of this world-crossing power was significant for Eriri. It was like planting a seed of world-crossing power in her body. With time and cultivation, she might be able to generate this power from her own cosmic energy.
Once that happened, she could open world passages herself, as long as she had the world coordinates provided by the chat group.
