The Supreme Overlord (Multicross)

Chapter 12: 12 Loyal

Though he was filled with excitement and eager to find out what had happened, Saigou remained calm and composed at this moment.

He gazed at the floor guardians kneeling before him, all of them expressing their loyalty to him.

The Floor Guardian of the first to third levels, Shalltear Bloodfallen, is a True Vampire who appears as a noble and elegant young girl of around thirteen or fourteen years old.

The Floor Guardian of the fifth level, Cocytus, belongs to the insect race and looks like a humanoid scorpion, his body covered in peculiar bones, and is known for his martial prowess.

Aura Bella Fiora and Mare Bello Fiore are the Floor Guardians of the sixth level, belonging to the Dark Elf race.

Due to the personal preferences of their creator, Bukubukuchagama, Aura, the elder sister, is a gallant figure resembling a young boy, while Mare, the younger brother, speaks with a soft voice and always wears feminine attire.

This alone speaks volumes about Bukubukuchagama's personality.

The Floor Guardian of the seventh level, Demiurge, is a pure demon created by Ulbert Alain Odle, the World Disaster, who frequently clashed with Touch Me.

Including Sebas Tian, the butler, and Albedo, the overseer, these individuals make up the most crucial members of the Great Tomb of Nazarick.

As for the other members and Floor Guardians, they are either alchemical creations devoid of self-awareness or are unsuitable for leaving the areas they protect.

After pondering for a moment, Saigou slowly spoke, "...The most important issue for Nazarick right now is the lack of information."

"...Nazarick has undergone a transformation and appeared in a different world, but we know nothing about this new world."

"Are the inhabitants of this world strong or weak? Could they pose a fatal threat to Nazarick, and…"

"...Since the Great Tomb of Nazarick has arrived here, does this also mean that other guilds might have been transported as well?"

"You must understand that Ainz Ooal Gown has never had good relations with other guilds. If we encounter them, it could very well lead to a fierce battle."

Saigou's dark flame-wreathed fingers tapped on the armrest of his chair.

Based on the information he had, Saigou speculated that the Eight Greed Kings he remembered could very well be one of the top three guilds in the game.

Just as Ainz Ooal Gown has the Great Tomb as their base, Saigou knew that one of the higher-ranking guilds also had a guild headquarters.

Moreover, those guilds have numerous members, and their bases would certainly have more guardians.

Although Saigou's growth potential far exceeds that of these so-called players, his current strength doesn't allow him to crush all Yggdrasil players.

He is undoubtedly invincible in a one-on-one duel, but if there are too many max-level players wielding all sorts of strange items, Saigou would have to avoid a direct confrontation.

Before Saigou joined, Ainz Ooal Gown was ranked ninth at its peak, but after his arrival, it climbed to seventh place.

Saigou knew that his strength was roughly equivalent to that of two guilds, and they were still on the lower end of the top ten.

As for those top-tier guilds, they are not to be underestimated.

"Had I known this would happen, I would have stayed at home more and watched more anime back then. Now look at me—I know almost nothing about this world's background."

Saigou sighed inwardly with helplessness.

What did the first season of Overlord even tell? Practically nothing; the whole world background remains a complete mystery.

Saigou felt that his current situation serves as a warning to others: even after entering the workforce and despite feeling exhausted every day…

But also remember not to forget your original intentions. Don't let yourself become too exhausted. Make time to watch anime, read novels, and play games to relax.

That way, even if one day you find yourself transported to another world, you'll be able to handle it with ease, rather than being caught in a predicament like he is now.

"Shalltear, Sebas, Demiurge!"

Lost in thought, Saigou spoke slowly.

"We are at your service!"

The three who had been named stepped forward, their expressions solemn as they knelt on the ground and bowed their heads.

"Shalltear and Sebas, you both have the most human-like appearances. Demiurge, you excel in transformation magic, so you are suited to blend into human society. The task of gathering intelligence will be entrusted to you."

"...The maids from the Pleiades could also be of some use."

Pausing for a moment, Saigou turned his head to look at the silent Momonga beside him and continued, "...The job of coordinating the intelligence gathering in this new world is yours, Momonga!"

"...As the overall coordinator, you must fulfill your duties, while I will take care of the internal affairs of Nazarick."

Upon hearing Saigou's orders, Momonga became somewhat flustered. Thankfully, his passive skill activated at the crucial moment, allowing him to remain composed and avoid losing face in front of the guardians.

He quickly opened a private chat and said, "...What's going on, Zarathustra! Why did you assign me to be in charge of external intelligence gathering?"

Saigou responded calmly, "...Right now, there are only the two of us left in Ainz Ooal Gown, so of course, you need to take on some responsibilities. Besides, you're good at organizing information, so this task is perfect for you."

In the past, the members of Ainz Ooal Gown were clearly divided in their roles: Saigou managed the overall strategy of the guild, while Momonga was responsible for gathering intelligence on the game and other guilds.

Everyone had their own role, and those without any special talents simply acted as muscle.

"No, that's not what I meant. As one of the only two remaining members of the guild, I'm definitely willing to take on work."

"...But, Zarathustra, wouldn't it be better if you handled external matters? I'm not good at interacting with others. It would be more reasonable for you to handle external affairs while I stay inside the Nazarick!"

Momonga's voice was filled with anxiety, clearly showing his lack of confidence at the moment.

As an ordinary person suddenly transported to another world, even though his in-game abilities remained intact, who could say for sure whether this was a place where sword saints were everywhere and archmages were as common as humans?

It was understandable that he would feel uneasy and reluctant to take on responsibility, wanting to cling to Saigou like a lifeline.

Hearing Momonga's words, Saigou inwardly retorted, "So you want me to earn money and support us while you just look pretty, huh?"

That won't do, Momonga. We should really switch roles.

Saigou began to ponder how to come up with an excuse to persuade Momonga.

In fact, if possible, Saigou would prefer everyone to hunker down inside the Great Tomb of Nazarick and not even step outside. That would feel much safer.

The main issue was that Saigou couldn't find any opportunities in this world that would make him stronger, or unlock other demon forms, or even fully inherit the Authority of the Evil Deity's Mother.

In that dark space, however, the invitations he had sent out were the key.

Therefore, rather than exploring this world of swords and magic, Saigou would rather study that dark space and the invitations.

The current Saigou is completely different from who he was in the past. In the cyberpunk reality, he was just a human being.

Now, he has completely transformed into a demon, fully gaining power. This makes Saigou think that perhaps there might be new changes in that dark space.

That's why he wanted to stay inside the Great Tomb and be a shut-in!

As Saigou was pondering for an excuse, Momonga suddenly realized something and exclaimed, "...I understand now, Zarathustra!"

"...We must secure our internal affairs before dealing with external threats. Compared to exploring the outside world, the stability of Nazarick and the loyalty of our NPCs are far more crucial!"

"Your strength is greater, so you should stay at the center of our operations to maintain the stability of Nazarick!"

"...Additionally, your class doesn't allow you to use basic equipment and you don't have transformation magic, making it unsuitable for you to travel outside."

"Whereas I have a skill that lets me switch classes, and I can wear a mask to pretend to be human. It makes more sense for you to manage internal affairs while I handle external matters."

"...As expected of you, Zarathustra, to think of so much in such a short time. And here I was, blaming you for assigning this task to me!"

"Rest assured, I won't let you down. I'll definitely protect Nazarick, now that it's just the two of us left!"

Seeing the admiration in Momonga's eyes, Saigou was momentarily stunned. He hadn't expected Momonga to come up with so much on his own.

But Momonga, your gaze is a bit concerning. He's really not interested in men, much less in a skeleton!

However, since Momonga had found his own reason, Saigou decided to go along with it and replied vaguely, "...Yes, it's good that you understand."

With his opinion affirmed, Momonga's confidence surged. He stood up, brimming with enthusiasm, and addressed the guardians kneeling before him: "...Everyone, since you've heard Zarathustra's instructions, go and fulfill your respective duties!"

"Yes, Lord Zarathustra, Lord Momonga!" The guardians replied respectfully.

At that moment, Saigou suddenly said, "...Shalltear and Demiurge, stay behind. I have more instructions for you."

Shalltear quickly raised her head. She licked her lips, revealing her sharp vampire fangs, lifted her elegant neck, and pushed out her obviously fake chest. In a fervent tone, she declared.

"...Lord Zarathustra, you finally see it—this humble servant is your most loyal dog, your most trustworthy slave!"
