The Supreme Overlord (Multicross)

Chapter 6: 6 God is Dead

"Yes, Lord Zarathustra!"

Without a moment's hesitation, Albedo responded to Saigou's command, which had almost trampled upon her pride. This stunningly beautiful, pure-white demon, clad in a dress that accentuated her figure to perfection, gracefully approached him.

Her steps were delicate and elegant, reminiscent of a refined and genteel noblewoman. Wearing white silk gloves on her slender hands, Albedo moved forward until she stood before Saigou. Then, she bent her exquisitely sculpted waist and prostrated herself in the most submissive manner, bowing low to the ground.

A faint fragrance filled the air, and its intoxicating scent caused the black flames forming Saigou's demonic body to waver slightly.

Saigou raised an eyebrow. This demon truly possessed an inexplicable allure for the male sex, provoking a desire to keep her as a forbidden treasure, forever imprisoned within one's grasp.

However, despite her respectful tone, when Albedo knelt, Saigou could still discern a twisted obsession and a delirious, distorted love emanating from her stunning features.

'Hmm, what was Albedo's original setting again?'

Saigou's expression turned contemplative.

He had watched the first season of Overlord and was aware of Albedo's initial character setting. But that was merely the setting in his memory.

In this reality, due to his close relationship with Tabula, Saigou knew that Albedo's programming was likely slightly altered from what he remembered.

The NPCs created by Guild members could only have their settings viewed or altered by the member who created them. Saigou genuinely feared that some brain-dead Guild member might have added a traitorous streak to their NPC, which would then genuinely make the character a traitor!

"Lord Zarathustra, please give your command!"

Albedo's forehead touched the ground as she knelt completely, her soft, seductive voice filled with reverence.

"Any command?"

Saigou sat on the throne, resting his chin on one hand, his head tilted slightly as he asked with a hint of amusement.

"I will carry out any command of yours without question."

"…Or perhaps, you wish for me to serve you here? Ah, that would be wonderful. But please, do not tell Lord Tabula."

"Of course, if you insist on telling him, I will only be more excited. I believe Lord Tabula will forgive me for betraying him!"

Albedo's face flushed with anticipation, her expression hopeful as she eagerly awaited Saigou's next command.

'Of course, this has Tabula's fingerprints all over it,' Saigou sighed, having already deduced the entirety of Albedo's character settings.

At this point, Momonga was utterly stunned, almost at a loss for what to do.

He watched the interaction between Saigou and Albedo, feeling a rising sense of panic.

Wait, wait, wait—this game is rated for all ages! Any R18 behavior is strictly prohibited and impossible to perform. So what's going on here? And how is it that the NPCs have come to life?

Kneeling on the ground, Albedo's alluring figure formed a perfect curve, her enticing posture stirring something in Momonga's male instincts.

But in the next moment, a chilling coldness, akin to the touch of death, surged from deep within him, extinguishing all desire and calming his previously restless emotions.

This was the passive skill of Emotion Suppression, a trait of the Overlord in Yggdrasil, which allowed him to eliminate unnecessary desires and maintain a calm demeanor.

In the game, this skill merely added some resistance and stat bonuses, but here in reality, it truly enabled Momonga to discard any distracting urges and stay rational.

This made perfect sense, given that as an undead skeleton, he shouldn't have any lingering male desires toward a female.

Besides, his current body wasn't capable of such things.

Momonga was grateful for this skill, as it allowed him to think more clearly in the present situation.

As for the desires he lost, they were so thoroughly suppressed by the skill that he felt no regret over their absence.

Momonga was no fool. Perhaps in reality, his emotions often clouded his judgment, preventing him from making wise or correct decisions.

But now, with the benefit of his passive skill and his knack for gathering information, he quickly began to piece together the situation. Through changes in the game interface, the altered functions, and the miraculous awakening of the NPCs, he started to form a rough hypothesis about what was happening.

'Why would Zarathustra give Albedo such a strange command? Could it be that he's interested in her just because she's beautiful?'

'…No, that's not it. I get it now, this makes sense!'

'The game has undergone some bizarre changes, and the NPCs have come to life with their own consciousness. That means there's a chance they could betray us.'

'…Zarathustra is issuing excessive commands to test whether Albedo will resist!'

'If Albedo were to defy orders, it would prove that she's a serious threat. But here, in the Throne Room, with Zarathustra being the strongest in the world, he could easily deal with her and alert me to the need for caution when dealing with other NPCs.'

'...The NPCs in the Great Tomb of Nazarick are all incredibly high-level. If they were to mount a coordinated attack, even Zarathustra might be in danger.'

'So, by converting a potential group conflict into a one-on-one situation, Zarathustra is leveraging his unparalleled strength. This is the optimal strategy for the current situation.'

With this realization, Momonga couldn't help but admire Zarathustra. '...As expected of Zarathustra, he's already analyzed the situation and made the most accurate judgment in such a short time, while I was still fumbling around.'

'...He's just like he was in the past. As long as he's around, it's hard not to feel reassured.'

Noticing Momonga's gaze, Saigou looked back with a puzzled expression. From the crimson glint in Momonga's eyes, he saw admiration and an inexplicable reliance on him.

Is this guy thinking about something weird? Saigou was full of questions.

The truth behind his order to Albedo was quite simple—when a peerless beauty obeys your every command, letting you do as you please, it's hard to imagine a normal man who wouldn't take advantage of the situation.

Only a young boy, shy and inexperienced, might blush and hesitate. But as a grown man, Saigou felt that taking action was the most logical response!

Shaking his head, Saigou reminded himself that now wasn't the time to be distracted by matters between men and women.

Although Saigou had anticipated changes in the world, there were still things about his situation he needed to confirm first.

He stood up from the throne and ordered Albedo, "…Come with me."

Then, turning to Momonga, he added, "…Momonga, go gather the Floor Guardians."

Hearing Saigou's instructions, Momonga pondered for a moment, believing he understood Saigou's intentions.

He's gathering the strongest Floor Guardians of Nazarick to test their loyalty, isn't he?

"I'll take this with me. No objections, right?" Saigou said, approaching the floating Avestā.

Momonga quickly replied, "…Of course not. That belongs to you, Zarathustra, not to the guild."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than Momonga realized something. Zarathustra is reminding him to take a World-Class item for protection, just in case!

Saigou stored the Avestā, the Another Cosmology, and as he was about to leave the Throne Hall, he suddenly stopped, turning back with a low, almost ominous voice.

"…Momonga."

"Hm? I'm here. Is there something else?"

Momonga, deep in thought, was momentarily startled and asked in confusion.

Saigou cast him an indescribable look and chuckled softly.

"God is dead!"
