The Tale of Hero Alice’s Social Death

Chapter 62: Actually, God Knows Everything

Although the way the conversation played out was different from her expectations, Alice got to speak with God at the very least.

"Since you know that I came from another world, do you have a way to send me back?"

After understanding that the white-haired loli in front of her was the God responsible for choosing and blessing Heroes, Alice immediately voiced the biggest question in her mind. Although she had previously come up with a few plans to ensure that she could live a peaceful life in this otherworld, if she could return to Earth, she wouldn't have to go through the hassle of enacting her plans.

Not to mention, now that the real Hero had appeared already, the real Demon King should appear shortly afterward. These two individuals were the protagonists of this world. An outsider like Alice shouldn't intervene in their matters.

"Although I want to help you, I'm afraid I cannot do that…" the white-haired loli said, shaking her head. Then, when she saw the look of disappointment on Alice's face, she explained, "This world is currently in a delicately sealed state. While I might hold a certain degree of authority as this world's God, I cannot transfer people out of this world."

"But you clearly have things from Earth here," Alice said as she pointed at the items scattered around the room. Whether it was the Nintendo Switch or Playstation 4, both were items that originated from Earth. Thus, this proved that the white-haired loli had a way of extending her hands to Earth. "Could there be a huge difference between bringing things over from Earth and sending things back to Earth?"

"There used to be no difference in the past. However, the situation is different now." Hearing Alice's question, the white-haired loli earnestly explained, "I just mentioned that this world is in a delicately sealed state, right? The world wasn't always like this in the past. Around the time when the first few Heroes and Demon Kings fought, I could still freely transfer people and objects to and from Earth. However, things started changing around the Seventh Demon King."

"The Seventh Demon King… Did something happen to the Demon King's Power?" Alice asked. She noticed the emphasis the white-haired loli had placed on her sentence.

"At the time, I still wasn't aware as to how the Demon King's Power came to be. However, ever since it started changing its behavior, I realized its origins," the white-haired loli said, slowly divulging this world's essence to Alice. "The Demon King's Power is something born from the resistance of this world's inhabitants to laws of nature. It holds the greatest malice toward this world, and it exists purely for the sake of destruction. Meanwhile, this power is continuously growing along with the world's development."

"It is growing along with the world's development?"

Alice pondered over the white-haired loli's words. Immediately, she realized that the creation of culture must've led to the birth of the Demon King's Power. In the distant past, people might have been willing to follow the laws of nature because of the awe and respect they held toward nature. However, as the living inhabitants of this world developed their culture, they gradually stopped respecting nature and even tried to break its laws. This, in turn, had led to the birth and growth of the Demon King's Power.

"Ordinary humans and demons have yet to notice that the Demon King's Power is currently growing stronger and stronger. They unilaterally assume that the Demon King's Power is weak because they see that Heroes are constantly defeating Demon Kings," the white-haired loli said, shaking her head dejectedly. "They fail to realize the true essence of the Demon King's Power. The Demon King's Power exists to destroy this world's laws. The world barrier that previously allowed two-way transfers has become a one-way passage because of its actions. It is also why I cannot send you out of this world."

"In other words…I need to get rid of the Demon King's Power to return home?"

Alice suddenly felt nauseous. She had originally planned to stall the war between the human and demon realms by pretending to be the Hero and Demon King. Then, she would use the peace she earned to research spatial magic and find a way back to Earth. Now, however, it would seem that her plan was doomed to fail. After all, the world barrier was already incapable of letting her leave this world. If even the God in front of her couldn't do anything about the world barrier, Alice doubted that she could do any better.

"Yes. Moreover, it isn't as simple as defeating the Demon King. If you want the world barrier to recover, you need to uproot the Demon King's Power," the white-haired loli said. "After realizing this point, I have strengthened the power I granted to the Heroes and gave them hints through the Word of God. I told them that they mustn't stop at just defeating the Demon King and that what's more important was for them to extinguish the Demon King's Power. Unfortunately, they failed to take the hint and would always retreat after defeating the Demon King. to make matters worse, the Demon King's Power is also very cunning. It is entirely focused on destroying the world's laws, never bothering to increase the Demon King's strength."

"Which is why apart from the Seventh Demon King, not one of the subsequent Demon Kings managed to invade the human realm successfully," Alice said, finally understanding why the past Demon Kings had such tragic results. It was because God had strengthened the Hero's abilities, while the Demon King's Power was focused on destroying the world's laws and slacked off on strengthening the Demon King. Looking at it this way, the Demon Kings were being treated like literal tools. However, Alice also quickly realized a problem in the white-haired loli's words.

"But what does this have to do with me? I am not the Hero."

"You might not be the Hero, but you have something on you that lets you break the laws of nature," the white-haired loli said as she looked at Alice with a serious expression. "Although I don't know what that thing is, I believe you should know it very well… While the Demon King's Power might be capable of restructuring this world's laws, the Demon King's Power, to put it bluntly, is merely a product of this world's laws. Meanwhile, the power you wield is something that can break the Demon King's Power!"

Something that can break the laws of nature?

Alice was momentarily stunned. Then, she subconsciously looked at her right hand. If she had to name something she owned that could break the laws of nature, the only thing she could think of was her mysterious right hand.

The ability to turn the Hero's Sword into garbage and panties into artifacts should be going against the laws of nature, right? But according to her words, it seems she doesn't know that my right hand is the origin of this ability?

At this time, the white-haired loli also followed Alice's gaze and looked at Alice's empty right hand with a suspicious gaze. However, she quickly stopped paying attention to this minor detail and earnestly continued, "So, for the sake of our world and your return to Earth, please help us! I will also do my best to help you in taking on the Demon King's Power!"

"Even if you say that…" Alice scratched her head. However, she also realized that if she wanted to return to her original world, she had no choice but to help this white-haired loli. "What kind of help can you give me?"

"I can help you continue pretending to be the Hero. With God on your side, it is even less likely that others will suspect you."

"Cough, cough."

Alice couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed after having her deeds called out. It turned out that God knew she was pretending to be the Hero all along.
