The Tycoon's Odyssey

Chapter 264: 264:Elina Dreams

CRACKLE!

Evan cracked his knuckles, letting out a lazy yawn. Nowadays, he has been doing nothing productive.

Ever since he returned, he had turned into a lazy bum, enjoying his days sleeping around or reading up on global scenarios.

Out of sheer boredom, he decided to turn his attention to studying the system interface…

He was only good at programming and some other things, but he wouldn't call himself a master.

"Hmm! Let's see what's inside. It's been a while since I bothered to look inside," he muttered, opening up the interface.

There were tons of skills listed thereafter, but most of them were irrelevant to look at so he just ignored the rest.

In the hierarchy, Master came after Professional, with a limit of 5000 points, followed by Legendary levels that were the pinnacle for what humans could achieve.

As for fighting, the limitations of the human body capped most at Advanced and only a selected few could overcome the constraints of the body, whereas those gifted with godly genetics could achieve a Professional Level.

Once at a Professional level, one was already 2-3 times stronger than an average human.

To surpass these limitations, one needed to break the constraints of the human body and modify their entire body with the help of a genetic-evolution serum that would enhance their entire body while eliminating a significant portion of redundant and regressive genes.

Master level made one 10X stronger than a human. As for Legendary, someone at that was 20X stronger than an average human. The maximum limit to which the serum could boost was 15X that of a normal human.

He didn't know if a higher variant of serum existed, something that was entirely possible in the case of advanced countries, where research was kept in seclusion with no connection to the web, making it harder for Aurora to track, nonetheless, everything paled before Galactic.

While his stats might be the same as 20X that of humans, what gave Evan an additional edge was the presence of cosmic energy and his exceptional metabolism.

Despite the lack of a superhuman healing factor, injuries would be sealed in just a few seconds. If his hand was cut, he could just put them together with the help of bandages since his hypermetabolized cells would automatically connect and his arms would be attached without a need for surgery.

So long as he didn't lose his limbs, he could recover quickly and to some extent, he could even manipulate cosmic energy to strengthen his punch just like how the Knights use Aura in a fantasy tale.

Harnessing and manipulating cosmic energy was just the beginning of true superhuman potential in the universe.

Exciting, wasn't it?

Evan lounged lazily on the couch, letting a familiar warmth settle over him.

The day's worries faded away, but a distant ache lingered in his heart, recalling how far he had come from his once weaker self.

But he knew this was just the beginning. Numerous conflicts and deadly situations lay ahead—maybe even a war.

Truthfully, he didn't want any form of war to happen, knowing that a few soldiers would die for the personal wishes of their leaders.

A sigh escaped his lips as he looked outside, watching the sunlight stream through the curtains, casting playful shadows around the room. Just then, a cute voice pulled him out of his thoughts.

"What are you thinking so deeply about, Brother?"

Startled, he turned to see Elina staring at him, her wide eyes sparkling with curiosity.

She stood there, reflecting a sight of innocence as her ponytails swayed as she leaned forward, clearly eager to talk. A smile crept across Evan's face at how much she had grown since he last saw her.

"Elina," he asked gently, "what do you want to become when you grow up?"

Her face lit up, and she beamed at him with pride. "Brother, did you forget? I told you already… Whatever!"

Evan raised an eyebrow, amused. "What?"

"I want to become an Administrative officer!" Elina declared, puffing out her chest like a little soldier. Her confidence was infectious, and even Evan couldn't help but feel his heart swell with pride.

"Why do you want to become an Administrative Officer?" he teased. "You could become a businessman like me! Look at all the people who bow their heads and respect us. Even an Administrative Officer doesn't have that many people under them!"

Elina shook her head vigorously, her ponytails swinging like pendulums. "You don't get it, Brother! You businessmen and politicians have great power, but there needs to be a link between them and the common people. What if a bad businessman bullies someone? Those politicians and ministers won't act because their party funding depends on them. But an officer would!"

"Also, how many people interact with common people daily? Just look at you, how many times have you shown your face to the public after buying into this life? Who else, then, will be one to hear common people in earnest?"

"It's none other than us!" Elina shouted, her eyes twinkling.

"We are the workforce of the country, carrying the burden of those neglected ones. Though this seat has been corrupted, I want to set an example to show people what is the real power and worth of an officer who works for them."

Evan's usual playful demeanor faltered for a moment as he registered the intensity of her words. Her words were surprisingly profound for someone so young. Yet, he felt a pang of concern that this little girl, with dreams so noble, shouldn't have to carry the burdens of the world on her shoulders.

"And what if politicians interfere and try to stop you from making a move?" he pressed, curious about her response.

Elina's face flickered with a hint of panic, but it vanished quickly as a mischievous grin took its place. Leaning in, her voice dropped to a whisper. "That's when I can use my back support."

"Back support? Who?" Evan leaned forward, intrigued.

"It's you, dummy!" she exclaimed, playfully rolling her eyes at him as if it was the most obvious answer in the world.

Evan chuckled, a warm feeling spreading through him. In this simple yet profound moment, he was reminded that amidst all the chaos of his life, there were still reasons to smile and hold on to hope. He then ruffled her hair affectionately.

"Well, if you need me, you just have to call. I'll always be there for you, Elina."

She beamed up at him, and in that instant, Evan felt a wave of reassurance wash over him. Even amid the tumult of business and the weight of expectations, this little girl's aspirations brought clarity that made the challenges ahead seem easy.
