Chapter 12: The Punishment Comes Too Fast! The Desperate Situation of the Iceberg Female Lead:

Xiao Mingyue rushed to her company, Mingyue Pharmaceutical Group. As the largest pharmaceutical company in Magic Capital, it had a market value of billions, built with her hard work. She couldn’t let anything happen to it.

“Miss Xiao… you…”

As Xiao Mingyue stepped out of her car and hurried into the building, her secretary, standing anxiously at the entrance, greeted her. The secretary’s eyes widened as she noticed the red mark on Xiao Mingyue’s cheek—evidence of a slap.

“Tell me about the company’s situation.” Xiao Mingyue demanded, ignoring the curious looks.

The secretary quickly shifted her focus from Xiao Mingyue’s face and explained the severe issues the company was facing.

Hearing the news, Xiao Mingyue’s heart sank. It was far worse than she feared.

Production had been halted, sales blocked, funds frozen, and even the bank had come to collect debts.

As they entered the company, Xiao Mingyue’s gaze fell on the groups of uniformed security personnel, health department officials, and a familiar face—the CEO of the bank she often worked with. Her employees stood around in confusion, unsure of what to do.

Xiao Mingyue felt dizzy at the sight.

“CEO Xiao is back!” someone called out.

Suddenly, the chaos in the hall quieted. Representatives from the various agencies rushed toward her.

“Miss Xiao, your company’s products have violated regulations. There are serious safety risks. Please cooperate with our investigation.”

“Miss Xiao, your company’s funds are frozen due to serious issues.”

“Miss Xiao, it’s time to repay your loan from our bank.”

The demands came one after another, each one a blow. Xiao Mingyue’s heart sank even deeper. She took a deep breath, calming herself as best she could.

“Please give me until tomorrow. By then, I will have a solution.” She said firmly

Xiao Mingyue’s reputation as a determined, iron-willed business leader steadied those around her.

The people quieted, not because they were satisfied, but because their task was not to arrest her, only to pressure her.

Even the bank CEO watched with conflicted eyes, knowing Xiao Mingyue was in trouble. Someone powerful had targeted her, and if she didn’t resolve the situation by tomorrow, her empire would crumble.

After calming the officials and employees, Xiao Mingyue addressed her staff. “Don’t panic. Mingyue Pharmaceutical has overcome many challenges before. We are the largest pharmaceutical company in the city, and this too shall pass.”

Her words were filled with confidence, and the employees, reassured, returned to their workstations.

But Xiao Mingyue knew this was no ordinary challenge. As she returned to her office and locked the door, she felt the weight of the situation pressing down on her. This wasn’t something she could solve with her business skills or family connections.

There was one last option.

Her eyes drifted to the phone on her desk. She thought of her wealthy and influential contacts—partners, admirers, and allies within Magic Capital’s upper class. Could they help her? Surely, with their combined influence, they could stand up to Xu Hao.

With that thought, she quickly dialed her largest business partner, someone she had always trusted.

“Miss Xiao, what a surprise to hear from you! Is this about our next shipment?”

“Mr. Liu, I need a favor,” Xiao Mingyue said, her voice strained.

“Who would dare trouble CEO Xiao? Of course, I’ll help.” He replied confidently.

Feeling a glimmer of hope, Xiao Mingyue explained the situation, including her conflict with Xu Hao. She hoped he wouldn’t be intimidated, but after hearing her out, there was a long silence.

“I’m sorry, Miss Xiao,” he finally said, his voice distant. “I can’t get involved. And… I’m afraid we’ll have to cancel our future cooperation.”

The line went dead.

Xiao Mingyue stared at the phone in disbelief. She had not been hung up on in years, and the rejection from a trusted partner chilled her to the core.

She dialed another number, then another. Each time, the response was the same—either outright refusal or complete avoidance. No one dared oppose Xu Hao. One by one, her contacts distanced themselves from her.

Exhausted, Xiao Mingyue slumped into her chair. Despite the sweltering heat of July, she felt cold inside. Despair crept over her, deeper and more suffocating than she had ever known.
