The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Episode 29: The One I Want to Be By

While Lewis was engaged in an intense battle with the dragon, Fiera kept her distance, watching him to avoid getting caught up in the fight.

“El…”

Fiera gazed at Lewis, who was smiling joyfully despite bleeding as he fought the dragon, regretting her own helplessness while admiring his bravery and strength.

It filled her heart with the same warmth she felt when she heard stories of her father, the Beast King, and his adventures.

As the princess of the Beast Kingdom, she had been cherished by her father, the Beast King, and her mother.

Not only that, but she also had many others she could call mother and countless siblings.

However, the relationships among the mothers and siblings were harmonious; whenever one became pregnant, the others would help take care of the children.

Growing up in such a warm family, Fiera had developed a dream since childhood.

That was to travel the world as an adventurer, just like her admired and good king father.

Before becoming a king, her father had traveled various countries as an adventurer, defeating numerous powerful monsters alongside his companions.

Seeing her father joyfully recount those tales, she had begun to wish to travel the world with friends, just like he did.

“Father, someday I want to be an adventurer just like you.”

“Haha! Is that so? Then I’ll teach you lots of things!”

After patting her head when she was just seven years old, her father began to teach her various skills in between his royal duties.

How to fight, how to camp, how to dismantle monsters, and the rules of being an adventurer.

There was so much to learn, and while there wasn’t time for manners and studies befitting a princess, learning what was necessary for adventurers was far more enjoyable.

Then, when Fiera turned twelve, she told her father that she wanted to leave the kingdom to become an adventurer.

“I see. But Fiera, you’re still young. It’s okay to wait until you grow a bit more, you know?”

Her father said so, and although she understood his concern, she felt she had learned everything she could from him in those five years and needed to experience it for herself.

When she expressed that, her father seemed to agree, saying “Alright.”

By the way, her mother was worried about her too, but she was much quicker to grant permission than her father.

“Fiera, be careful of injuries and your health. And if you come across a strong man, don’t let him get away. First, get to know him, and if he’s a good person, then make your move.”

Her mother, perhaps thinking she was going to look for a husband, went on to explain how to interact with men.

But that wasn’t surprising; her mother was from the Silver Wolf Tribe like her, and once she took a liking to someone, she would go full carnivore.

Moreover, wolves were possessive by nature, and once bonded, they would love deeply and stay together for life.

She had heard her childhood friend—her father—complain about how difficult it was since he was young.

“I’ll do my best for now.”

Not fully understanding her mother’s words, Fiera only conveyed that she would do her best and went off to inform the rest of her family about her journey.

At that time, all the mothers provided advice on how to catch a man or how to avoid being caught, but she simply nodded and let it all wash over her.

A few days later, after being sent off by all her family, she left the kingdom and set off on her journey.

Her first destination was the nearby Valentine Duchy located within the Ruzenia Empire.

First, she’d register as an adventurer in the nearby town and earn some money. She also planned to increase her rank while at it.

After camping out a few times, she finally arrived in town and headed straight for the Adventurers’ Guild.

When registering, they were concerned about her age, but after she took down a pesky uncle who had been bothering her, they promptly registered her.

After completing a few jobs and saving money for about three months, she realized she had become a C Rank.

“I have enough money saved up, so it’s time to head to the duchy.”

After saying her goodbyes to those who had helped her in town, she set out once more, camping along the way as she aimed for the duchy.

Upon arriving, she was astonished by its sheer size. The town was lively, filled with people chatting happily at street corners and stalls, making it clear that this was a wonderful place.

While asking the townspeople for directions, she finally reached the Adventurers’ Guild, where she showed her guild card and asked for recommendations for inns.

At that moment, the receptionist looked a bit surprised, but she had no idea why.

As she continued to live her life while handling several requests, she overheard a rumor in the guild.

“Did you hear? A kid who defeated a Snow Wyvern came to the guild today.”

“Yeah, I heard. They even defeated Randall.”

“Seriously? What a freak of a kid.”

From what she gathered, it seemed that a boy around her age had defeated a Snow Wyvern and even beaten an A Rank adventurer.

(He sounds strong. I want to meet him.)

If such a strong person existed, she desperately wanted to meet him. However, she found it difficult to actually encounter the rumored boy.

Weeks later, when she came to the guild as usual to take on requests, she spotted an unfamiliar boy standing in front of the reception.

(This is him.)

Instinctively recognizing that the boy standing before her was the one she had been hearing about, she took the rare step of approaching him first.

When he looked over, her whole body trembled, sensing his unfathomable strength and the aura of someone who had faced countless life-and-death situations that no child should have experienced.

The moment she saw him, her instincts as a wolf screamed to run.

Yet, feeling that being with him would make her stronger, she eagerly invited him to join her party right then and there.

However, he declined without a second thought and asked why she wanted to form a party.

“You’re the strongest in this guild. I want to become strong, so I want to be by your side.”

Her ultimate goal was to travel the world. For that, she needed the strength to never lose to anyone or any monster, no matter where she went.

Upon hearing her answer, he seemed intrigued and said he would consider joining her party if they fought.

I was happy at the thought of fighting someone so strong, and a smile crept across my face.

To put it simply, the result of the fight was a complete defeat for her. He hadn’t fought her with full strength at all, and in the end, he even mentored her.

“You beastfolk have sharp senses. That’s why you’re sensitive to murderous intent and the slightest movement of the gaze, and the less experienced tend to rely solely on their instincts for defense. That’s why they fall for simple feints.”

Taking his words to heart, she realized it was true. She didn’t have much experience in combat against people and had only faced low-level monsters, so there were no feints to be had.

(I absolutely want to be with him.)

As those thoughts swirled in her mind while she watched him, perhaps sensing her feelings, he finally agreed to form a party with her.

After that, her days became truly fulfilling, as El taught her many physical techniques.

Thanks to his knowledge and sparring, her range of attacks broadened, and she became more accustomed to fights against people.

The time spent with him was genuinely fun, and before she knew it, she was looking forward to seeing El.

One day, after defeating a monster on a request as usual, a girl who appeared to be nobility emerged from a carriage they had rescued.

The girl called El “Lewis,” and when she did, he turned to look at her with a rare look of surprise. They exchanged a few words before he left hurriedly.

That night, when El came to visit the inn room where she was staying, she could smell the scent of that girl on him.

(I knew it. They’re acquainted.)

When she shared this thought with El, he sighed and explained everything.

He was a noble, and the girl from earlier was his fiancée. He also mentioned they wouldn’t be able to meet for a while.

Hearing that made her heart feel a bit cloudy, but she didn’t know why. She parted ways with El that day.

Days later, she was set to meet El and his fiancée.

Apparently, Iris, his fiancée, expressed wanting to meet her, and since she was curious, she agreed to the meeting.

On the day, El and Iris appeared with their hair and eye colors swapped, and Iris provocatively teased her about various things.

El reassured them not to worry about their banter before he dozed off during the meal.

“Fiera, do you like Lewis?”

Then, with a serious face, Iris asked if she liked El.

However, Fiera still didn’t understand her feelings. Having never liked anyone before, she simply conveyed that truth.

When she turned the question back on Iris, asking if she liked El, Iris answered without hesitation that she did.

Hearing that made her heart swell with a mix of emotions she couldn’t quite articulate.

Nonetheless, she conveyed that she had no intention of leaving El, which made Iris look somewhat convinced.

The dinner went on without any more significant events, and when it was over, Fiera returned to her room.

Two days after meeting El and Iris, she took the A Rank promotion exam alone and successfully passed.

After tackling several requests alone, El came to visit her again.

It seemed Iris had returned home, and since Fiera had also become A Rank, he suggested they explore a dungeon together.

That same day, they headed to the dungeon. It was Fiera’s first time, and El offered plenty of support, so they successfully cleared up to the 20th floor.

The next day, she spent time at El’s house, feeling nervous, and quarrelled with him when he attempted to sally out on his own, but they still managed to enjoy their time together.

Additionally, after talking to El’s maid, she recognized that she was increasingly attracted to him, which was a significant breakthrough.

Taking a day off due to El’s considerate nature, they once again challenged the dungeon.

When they teleported to the 21st floor, El proposed the goal of completely clearing the dungeon.

Eager to set off traveling together soon, she readily agreed and began the dungeon run with potions given by El.

Today, El participated actively in the fight, allowing them to clear through the dungeon more swiftly and easily reached the boss room of the 40th floor.

Inside the room stood a dragon made of ice, and despite her hitting it with all her might, her attacks didn’t leave a single mark.

Not only that, but her hands also became painful from the impact, causing her to momentarily stop.

As the dragon attempted to stomp on her, El leaped in to save her.

They continued their attacks, but nothing seemed to affect the beast, and as she began to wonder if she should run away, El urged her to unleash her beastification.

While she was worried about leaving him to face the dragon alone, she knew better than anyone how strong he was.

So, trusting him, she beastified, and it became her versus the dragon.

However, after the initial strike, she couldn’t attack with everything she had, leading to a state where she lacked the decisive blow.

About ten minutes later, fatigue took its toll, and she knelt down, unable to muster strength.

The dragon conjured ice pillars to kill her and launched them in her direction.

(I’m going to die.)

Just as she braced herself for death, El’s back suddenly appeared in front of her, shielding her with multiple layers of barrier magic against the ice pillars.

However, due to an overwhelming number of ice pillars, El’s barriers shattered one after another, and at the moment the last one broke, one ice pillar pierced through his abdomen.

“El!”

Before her eyes, the ice pillar turned red with El’s blood, and drops of blood dripped from the tip.

(No! No! No! El’s going to die!)

Desperate to reach him immediately, her body wouldn’t move as she wished.

As the ice pillars disappeared, El momentarily stilled but soon cast a healing spell on his wound, sweeping his bloodied hands through his bangs.

When she asked if he was alright, he replied that he was fine and told her to head toward the wall.

“Let’s escape together.”

She didn’t know if they could escape, but afraid of losing him, she proposed fleeing.

However, it seemed El had no intention of running; on the contrary, he told her to hurry and go away, filled with a murderous intent towards her.

Overcome by his forceful presence, she couldn’t voice anything further and ended up heading to the wall alone.

What unfolded next was El’s overwhelming battle against the dragon; she couldn’t find an opportunity to intervene.

“Wow…”

How does one develop such combat skills? How can someone dare to challenge such a monster? How could she stand beside him?

She continued to watch his fight against the dragon, engraving it into her memory, filled with a myriad of emotions.

Then, as El and the dragon unleashed their final techniques, his slash cut through the dragon’s breath and cleaved the creature in half.

After confirming the dragon’s death, El collapsed, seemingly out of strength.

“El! El!”

With all her remaining might, she rushed over to El, pulling all the potions she had from her bag and forcing them into his mouth.

“El. Please, don’t die…”

Tears blurred her vision as she trembled with fear at the possibility of losing him, yet she continued to pray fervently with each potion she made him drink.
