The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 68: Farewell

Starting from the day after Fiera and I conquered the 10 floors of the “Endless Land,” we took a break for a while and, having finished our preparations, we finally decided to leave the coastal city of Minerva.

“Did you forget anything?”

“Nah. I’m good.”

Even though it was still early morning, the streets were bustling with people, and many ships were unloading cargo at the port.

We walked through the busy streets, heading towards the gate, ready to do some light warm-up exercises before taking off.

“Wait a sec!”

Just as we were about to run, we were suddenly called from behind. When I turned around, there was Shuvina, just finished packing and catching her breath as she walked toward us.

I sensed trouble was brewing, but I decided to engage her anyway.

“What’s up? It’s still early.”

“Eir. I have a favor to ask.”

“Ugh… I’ve got a feeling I know what it is, but I’ll hear you out. Go ahead.”

“I want to join you on your journey.”

As expected, Shuvina’s request was about the conversation we had in the dungeon the other day, and it seemed she wanted to discuss it again.

“We already talked about that. You can’t come with us. Our goals, perspectives, and determination are all different. Bringing you along would just be a hindrance, remember?”

“I get that. But I want to go on an adventure with none other than you guys. So please take me with you. I’m begging you!”

Shuvina, with a serious look, maintained eye contact with me without looking away.

“What if I said no?”

“I’d definitely find you and ask you again. Dona can connect with various places through the plants of the world, so I’ll keep chasing you no matter what.”

At first, I thought she was joking, but her earnest eyes made a shiver run down my spine.

(What is it about her that feels so familiar, like Fiera…?)

Feeling a bit intimidated by her intensity, I thought that even if I tried to run, she’d actually come after me, so I reluctantly decided to test her.

“Argh, this is such a hassle. Let’s change places for the test.”

“Got it.”

The three of us walked for a bit until we entered a deserted part of the forest, where we set our bags down on the ground.

“This should work.”

“So? What am I supposed to do?”

“Simple. Just stand over there.”

“Huh?…!?”

Shuvina didn’t seem to understand at first, but when I unleashed a dense aura of killing intent toward her, her expression twisted, and she started to breathe heavily.

The birds sensing my killing intent all fled, and even nearby animals made a fuss and ran away. Yet, Shuvina didn’t faint or flee; she somehow managed to keep standing and looked at me.

“Hmm. You managed to hold up. I guess that’s passing grade.”

“Haah, haah, haah…”

After about two minutes of enduring my killing intent, the pressure lifted, causing streams of sweat to flow from her forehead as she tried to steady her ragged breaths.

“Are you alright? Shuv.”

“Y-yeah. I’m fine, Fiera.”

Fiera approached Shuvina, pulled a drink from her bag, and Shuvina received it and drank it slowly.

“I see your determination.”

“Then! I want to join you!”

“However, you currently lack the strength. So, I’ll decide whether you can come with us in three months.”

“In three months?”

I had no intention of taking her along initially, but it seemed Shuvina neither had the resolve to die yet still endured my killing intent.

Moreover, the elf nation was quite strict about allowing other races inside, requiring either an elf to accompany or to be recognized by one.

If Shuvina could manage that, I decided to allow her to travel with us until we reached the elf country, after which we’d discuss things again.

“Fiera.”

“What is it?”

“You’ll train Shuvina until she’s useful. Until then, you two will operate separately.”

When I said this, Fiera looked like the world was ending, her eyes glistening as she asked why.

“Separate? Why? Did I do something? Are you abandoning me?”

She seemed to misunderstand, so I clarified.

“Calm down. I told you to train her, right? You’re the one who coaxed her into this, aren’t you? So now it’s your responsibility to make sure she can come along with us.”

“You’re not going to abandon me?”

“I’m not abandoning you.”

Once I confirmed Fiera was calmed down, I turned my face to Shuvina.

“You listened, right? From now on, you’re going to act together with Fiera and grow stronger. There are two tasks.

First, you need to raise your adventurer rank to at least A rank. Otherwise, you won’t be able to keep up with our dungeon explorations.

Second, learn to fight without relying on spirit magic. Saying, ‘I can’t fight because I’m out of magic’ won’t cut it.”

“Got it. But how do I fight without magic…?”

“From what I can see, you can use a bow, right? That’s fine.”

“But a bow doesn’t do much damage without magic. The effectiveness comes from infusing arrows with magic.”

Sure, you could probably kill common humans without the infusion, but against monsters or magic-using humans, normal arrows might not deal any damage.

“Ugh, fine. Let’s get you a bow and arrows.”

“I-I understand!”

I borrowed a bow and arrows from Shuvina, nocking an arrow and taking a deep breath.

“Since you’re a young elf, you might not be aware, but in the world, there’s strength other than magic.”

Holding my breath, I eliminated even the slightest body movement to infuse fighting spirit into the arrow.

When released, the arrow pierced through several trees, blowing off the head of a goblin fifty meters ahead.

“…No way.”

“This is fighting spirit. I don’t think any elves could use it since you’re more adept at magic, but it’s different from the magical powers mastered by martial artists. Infusing this into an arrow will allow you to shoot with the same power as just now, even without magic.”

Shuvina, shocked, looked as if she couldn’t find the words, her mouth slightly agape as she blinked rapidly.

“If you can do that, then even if you run out of magic, you’d still be able to fight, and you could even conserve magic for battle.

You have three months. In three months, I’ll check your progress in the western town of Safari. If you haven’t completed at least one of the tasks I set, then I won’t take you along.”

“Wait, won’t you train me?”

“I said it, didn’t I? I’ll be acting separately. I’m not free enough to train you. Besides, Fiera can use fighting spirit too, so it should be fine.”

“Leave it to me.”

Glancing at Fiera, she nodded confidently.

For some reason, I felt a bit uneasy, but for now, I decided to leave it to her.

“That wraps it up. You two can discuss and decide things from here. Fiera, I’m entrusting you with the magic bag. It has a decent amount of money and food, so use it as you like.”

“Is that okay?”

“No problem. I have other arrangements.”

“Got it.”

“Alright then, let’s meet again in three months.”

With that, I grabbed only the necessary belongings and left the spot, breaking into a sprint after exiting the forest, using my body enhancement skill.

I hadn’t decided on a specific destination, but I knew what I needed to do.

That was to defeat monsters ranked A or higher and consume their magical organs.

When I was with Fiera, I hadn’t actively fought high-ranked monsters outside dungeons, but now, being alone, I could move freely.

“I need to hurry and learn space-time magic.”

After that, I set out to search for high-ranked monsters, moving from town to town.

~Fiera’s Side~

After Lewis left, Fiera turned her attention back to Shuvina, her mind set.

“Let’s go, Shuv. We don’t have time to waste!”

“W-wait, Fiera!”

As Fiera was about to start walking, Shuvina hurriedly grabbed her arm with a look of regret.

“Um… I’m really sorry. I made you and Eir separate because of me. You wanted to stay together, didn’t you?”

Shuvina, aware of just how deeply Fiera loved Lewis, felt guilt over separating her from someone so important due to her selfishness.

“You don’t need to worry about it. We’ll meet again in three months. Also, I’m just happy that Eir entrusted you to me.”

This was Fiera’s genuine emotion; she was glad Lewis, who usually did everything on his own, had entrusted Shuvina to her this time.

“More importantly, we need to hurry. We have a lot to do.”

“Got it!”

Shuvina sensed Fiera’s determination to genuinely train her and increased her own motivation.

After that, the two of them exited the forest and returned to the coastal city of Minerva, heading to the Adventurers’ Guild to search for quests to raise their ranks.
