The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 70: The Unknown Him

~side Iris~

It has been a few months since Lord Lewis vanished. During this time, I have been polishing myself more than ever, putting effort into my studies, and practicing magic diligently.

Among all this, I particularly focused on self-improvement and magical training. It’s a bit embarrassing to admit, but I think I inherited a decent appearance from my mother. However, there was one part of me that might shrink in the future.

It’s something genetic; both my mother and older sister aren’t notably large either.

But I’ve heard that men prefer bigger ones, and the Fiera I met before, despite being my age, was bigger than me and quite promising for the future.

So, to not lose to her, I’ve been doing massaging and exercises to grow bigger, plus I’ve been drinking cow’s milk to support my efforts.

As for magic, I felt regretful for being left behind this time, and I couldn’t forgive the fact that only Fiera was taken along. Wallowing in my powerlessness, I threw away the thought of being bad at it or lacking talent and stubbornly practiced magic.

My teacher praised me for being capable of using magic at my age, but I know of Lord Lewis, the genius.

Compared to him, my magic is still lacking, and with this level, I can’t stand by Lord Lewis.

Moreover, I’ve been experiencing many unsettling things lately. Whenever I think of Lord Lewis, I get this strange uneasy feeling in my chest, and I keep having bizarre dreams.

In those dreams, I’m bullied by Lord Lewis or I fall in love with other men—such puzzling dreams.

Just imagining being touched by a man other than Lord Lewis makes me feel sick, yet I keep having such unpleasant dreams.

And invariably, those dreams end with Lord Lewis dying, and when I wake up, my chest feels tightly pained.

Because of this stress, I asked my father to let me go monster hunting, even pretending to cry to gain his permission.

However, my father, worried as always, assigned particularly strong knights to guard me, and let my magic teacher accompany us as well.

The location was a rocky area not far from the marquis territory where I lived, and it seemed that there were many low-ranked adventurers active there since there weren’t many strong monsters.

At first, since it was my first battle against a monster, I was nervous. My chest filled with aversion and guilt over taking a life, but after several experiences, I managed to adjust.

“Milady, shall we head back soon?”

“No. I still have some magic left, so let’s go a bit further.”

“As you wish.”

Wanting to get a little closer to Lord Lewis, I continued to defeat the attacking monsters, and when we reached the midpoint, it was time to return.

However…

“Graaaaaah!!!”

“W-What is that?!”

“Milady! Please step back immediately!”

The moment I heard that monstrous roar, my whole body shook.

The knights and my magic teacher stood in front of me protectively, readying their swords and staffs.

What appeared was a monster with the head of a lion and a goat, with a lion’s body and legs, glaring at us with a snake-like tail.

“Is that… a Chimera?”

“No, this is a King Chimera, an upper species of Chimera. Look, it has wings on its back. That’s proof it’s a King Chimera. Milady, we’ll distract it, so you must escape!”

It seemed that a regular Chimera wouldn’t have wings, but the upper species, the King Chimera, did.

I was told to run by the knights, but I was so terrified that my legs wouldn’t move.

“Lord Lewis…”

Just seeing it sent images of death racing through my mind, and I couldn’t help but murmur the name of my beloved.

(If possible, I would have liked to die knowing I was loved by him.)

Even though Lord Lewis never looked at me until the end, I couldn’t help but think that if I were to die, I wanted to be loved and sent off by him.

Then, after the King Chimera roared again and kicked the ground ferociously to attack us, something came flying in from the side and sent the King Chimera tumbling.

“…Huh?”

As the King Chimera crashed into a large rock, everyone—myself, the knights, and the teacher—was left speechless by this sudden event.

“Hmm. Lighter than I expected.”

Then, where the King Chimera used to be, appeared a boy with long dark blue hair swaying in the wind, staring at the King Chimera with blue eyes.

(Is that… Lord Lewis? But why is he here…?)

I had so many questions, yet more importantly, what mattered now was that he had saved me and that he was going to fight the King Chimera.

“Lord Lewis! That’s a King Chimera! It’s not an opponent we can defeat, so let’s escape quickly!”

When I called out to him, Lord Lewis turned toward us, looking confused.

“I know, right? I came all the way here to take this thing down, so you all can just escape without worrying.”

He said it as if it were no big deal, but the opponent is an upper species of Chimera. Even if Lord Lewis is strong, he can’t defeat it alone.

“It’s impossible to take it down alone! You might die! If you’re going to fight, we will help you, so please…!”

“Huh? Don’t do anything unnecessary; you’ll just get in the way.”

I proposed to fight together, but Lord Lewis told me not to do anything unnecessary and gave off a hint of killing intent.

Just that made me tremble, and suddenly Lord Lewis appeared more monstrous than the King Chimera.

“Me die? Well, if that happens, so be it. Death is just that, right? Just don’t take away my only enjoyment.”

(Is this really the Lord Lewis I know…?)

The Lord Lewis before me looked like the beloved one I knew, yet his eyes held a hint of anger and hostility directed at us.

Moreover, there was not a shred of fear toward death; rather, it felt like he might even welcome it.

(When I last saw him, he seemed indifferent to everything, but could this be the true Lord Lewis?)

If that’s the case, the Lord Lewis I knew was merely skin-deep, and I knew nothing of his true essence.

(Does Fiera know this? No, she probably does. I’m sure she’s aware and is acting alongside him.)

Just thinking about that made me bite my lip in defeat and frustration, the taste of blood spreading in my mouth.

“Milady! We’ll handle that monster! Escape with the magician while you can!”

The knights continue to warn me to escape even after the King Chimera was blown away, but Lord Lewis looked at them with an exasperated expression and spoke.

“Were you listening to me? This is my prey. Can you please not get in the way?”

As he said that, he turned his gaze toward the recovering King Chimera and smirked like a ferocious beast.

“Heh. Let’s see just how far I can go against you now.”

The King Chimera seemed to have sensed Lord Lewis’s unusual aura and glared at him, recognizing him as an enemy rather than prey.

Then, a brief silence enveloped the area before the battle between Lord Lewis and the King Chimera began.

By the way, witnessing this battle would bring about a significant change in my feelings for Lord Lewis.
