Chapter 75
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 75: The Person I Don’t Want to Meet
On the night Shuvina became able to use Fighting Spirit, Fiera held a dinner party to celebrate her joining the group.
It seems that over the past three months, Fiera had grown quite fond of Shuvina, and knowing that she had been suffering, she was unusually proactive in her efforts.
Perhaps now that Shuvina’s worries had vanished, she felt lighter, ordering an astonishing amount of food that promptly disappeared into her stomach.
Just watching her made me feel full, so I kept my meal light and relaxed with a drink in hand.
“Ahh, that was delicious!”
“Mm. I’m satisfied.”
“Oh, I’m glad to hear that!”
Before me were two beautiful girls, their plates piled high, looking thoroughly satisfied and full.
It was a scene that was hard to describe, and the other customers around us were wide-eyed in astonishment.
As I sipped my seemingly endless tea, now that the meal was over, I shifted the conversation to our plans for the days ahead.
“So, about tomorrow and beyond…”
“Mm?”
“Where are we headed?”
“We’re going to the Magic Kingdom Falmel.”
“The Magic Kingdom?”
Falmel, as the name suggests, is a land filled with magicians, founded by a great mage known as the Sage about 500 years ago.
Afterward, the Sage, uninterested in running the country, entrusted it to one of his disciples, whose descendants still govern the Magic Kingdom under the title of Sage.
Many people in Falmel are passionate about researching magic, and the technological prowess involving magic and magical tools is far beyond that of our Empire.
“What are we going there for?”
Being an elf, Shuvina’s eyes lit up at the mention of Falmel.
“Of course, to study magic.”
Even though I’ve rewound my life many times, I had little experience traveling to other countries. I was interested in Falmel but had never been there.
As a Magic Kingdom, Falmel is overflowing with countless books and papers on magic. I thought that perhaps I could learn about magic I didn’t know or more efficient ways to wield it, so I decided to go.
“But, there’s one problem.”
“You mean Fiera?”
“Yeah.”
As Shuvina and I looked towards Fiera simultaneously, she tilted her head in confusion, seemingly unaware of the reason.
In Falmel, many view magic as an absolute power, and as a result, they fail to recognize beastmen, who cannot use elemental magic, as equals.
They merely see them as experimental subjects, magic practice targets, or slaves to offload their menial tasks.
So, I explained to her that taking Fiera along could lead to troublesome situations.
“Can’t you use El’s magic to change your appearance like El does?”
“Huh? Eir can change his appearance with magic?!”
“It can be done, but it probably won’t mean anything. They pass through a gate that nullifies magic before entering the country, so the magic would wear off immediately. Also, don’t ask about my appearance.”
“Why not?! If Fiera knows, I have the right to know too!”
“Sooner or later, maybe I’ll show you when I feel like it.”
“I like the current El, but I like the original El even more!”
“Grrr… I will definitely make you show me one day!”
With that, Shuvina sulkily puffed up her cheeks slightly and turned away.
Finding it tedious to deal with, I turned my attention back to Fiera to get back to the topic.
“Anyway, to put it simply, you’ll have to go in as you are. It might be unpleasant for you once we get to Falmel, but what will you do? If you don’t want to, we can go our separate ways.”
“Don’t worry about it. I want to be with El, and I don’t care how others think of me.”
“Okay. Well, if you change your mind, just let me know anytime. We’ll go our separate ways then.”
“Got it.”
So, we decided that in two days, we would finally leave the Ruzenia Empire for another country, each of us taking the day to rest in our respective rooms.
The day after Fiera’s welcome party for Shuvina was spent gathering supplies needed for our journey, and the following day would finally be the day we head to the Magic Kingdom Falmel.
When it comes to preparation, mainly we stocked up on food, needing even more than usual because of our big-eating elf.
As we were walking out of Safari, we noticed that the center of the city was bustling for some reason.
“Did something happen?”
“Who knows? Anyway, it’s not our concern. Let’s go.”
Just as I tried to walk away, I heard something I couldn’t ignore and halted.
“Hey, that’s the new Saintess, I hear.”
“Oh wow, she’s young but has a certain dignity.”
“Plus, she’s incredibly beautiful.”
(Huh? A Saintess?)
Hearing about the Saintess made me involuntarily look towards the crowd.
Then, through the gaps in the crowd, I caught a glimpse of a girl’s face, and for a moment our eyes met. My heart raced, and I felt overwhelmed with the desire to flee from the scene.
The girl I locked eyes with had pink-blond hair that reached just past her shoulders and silver eyes that seemed to reflect everything around her.
(Damn it. This is the worst. Why is she here?)
A Saintess is a chosen representative of the divine, the only being in the world capable of wielding Holy Magic.
Holy Magic is superior to Light Magic; while the limit of Light Magic is to regenerate missing parts, Holy Magic can even bring the dead back to life, albeit with conditions.
Moreover, unlike the necromancy used by monsters, this is a perfect resurrection—truly a divine miracle.
The role of such a Saintess is to convey the words of God to the people and guide the so-called Heroes in accordance with the will of the divine.
So, normally a Saintess should be raised with great care in the grand cathedral of the Holy Country Ishtarika, but for some reason, she was now away from there and in such a place.
Other people seemed to gather out of curiosity to see the rare Saintess, but for me, this particular Saintess was the second person I disliked the most in the world, and I wanted nothing to do with her.
“Excuse me, miss! Please wait!”
“We’re leaving.”
As the moment the Saintess locked eyes with me, she hurriedly wove through the crowd and tried to rush over to us, so I started walking quickly with Fiera and the others to escape.
“El?”
“Ignore her.”
After walking a bit, suddenly a group of armored men appeared in front of us, glaring down at me.
“The Saintess requests that you stop, young man.”
These knights, dressed in pure white armor and cloaks, were called Holy Knights, selected to protect the Saintess.
I tried to ignore them and leave, but one of the knights grabbed my shoulder to stop me.
“I said stop!”
“Shut up.”
“Ughhh!!!”
In an instant, I drew Ignid and sliced off the arm that gripped me, then swept their legs out from under them and pressed my sword to their neck.
“I’ll kill you next.”
The other knights were momentarily paralyzed by the sudden chain of events, and the knight who had lost his arm trembled, beads of sweat pouring down his face.
“Please stop!”
However, the Saintess stepped in, trembling slightly yet fixing her gaze on me.
“Please excuse our rudeness! They were only acting on my behalf! So please, put down your sword!”
“… Tch. Make sure they’re trained properly.”
I sheathed my sword and attempted to leave, but the Saintess stopped me again.
“Wait! Please… please let me speak to you just once! Luis-sama!”
“Huh?”
Her calling my name when I originally shouldn’t have been acquainted with her made me instinctively turn towards her.
“Please. Just a little bit is all I ask. Let me speak with you.”
The Saintess said this and, unbelievably, bowed her head toward me.
As a result, the onlookers around us didn’t disperse and just stared at us, leaving me unable to leave.
“… Fine. Just a little. Fiera, sorry, but could you stay here with Shuvina?”
“I want to go too.”
“Sorry, but not this time.”
“…I understand.”
After leaving Fiera, who looked like she wanted to come along, with Shuvina, the Saintess and I headed toward the carriage she had arrived in.
