The Walking Dead: Warlord

S1E27 – Camp Attack

“AHHHHHHHHH!”

I hear Amy yell out in pain as a walker bites down on her left forearm. Without a single thought, I pull out my pistol and shoot, blowing the walkers brain out onto the outside of the RV.

[Walker [26/50] - 10p]

[1350p]

I run towards Amy, who has another walker scrambling towards her. Pulling out my dagger, I stab the walker in the back of the skull before yelling at Shane and them,

[Walker [27/50 - 10p]

[1360p]

“EVERYONE GATHER UP IN A LINE! TAKE THEM OUT AS THEY GET CLOSER! ANDREA COME HERE!”

Andrea runs over to me, taking out a walker along the way. The group of survivors all run towards each other, including a couple of the extras. Andrea starts freaking out seeing her sister bitten. I grab the sides of her head and make her face me,

“Andrea, listen to me. This is gonna hurt her a lot, but it could potentially save her life, okay? Hold her arm out and whatever you do, do not let go, okay?”

She nods her head,

“Okay… okay…”

Amy cries in pain as she holds it. I look Amy in the eyes and say,

“I’m sorry, but I hope this saves your life.”

I unsheathe my gladius, which shines in the light of the fire, and hold it above my head. Amy looks at it with fear as I swing it down, making sure the edge is completely aligned.

*SHING!*

“GAAAAAAAAAH!”

And it slashes straight through her arm in one go. I grab Andrea, who cries out seeing her sister in so much pain, and I say,

“GO IN THERE AND STOP THE BLEEDING! SHE ONLY HAS ONE CHANCE!”

I practically throw the two sisters into the RV before throwing my shotgun and a box of twelve gauge in with them. Then, I shut the door. Looking out at the group, I see them in complete disarray again. Each fighting their own walker like a fantasy battle. I yell out, authoritatively,

“HEY! EVERYONE! LINE, NOW!”

Seeing as nobody listens to me, I decide to say fuck it. I charge over towards Morales and his family, as they’re the closest. I take my bloodied gladius and stab it into the walkers temple. I then flip around and slash the head off another one that’s coming up. I face towards Morales and his wife and say,

“Both of you, get to the side of the RV and put the kid behind you two, I’ll send others with you soon.”

Without waiting for an answer, I run towards Jim, who’s about to be bitten. I take out my gun and fire off two shots, hitting the walker once in the shoulder, and another time in the head. And I tell Jim the same thing.

Eventually, I get everyone to listen. We all gather up outside the RV. A total of 23 people. Only a couple extras survived. Luckily, Ed is dead.

More walkers begin to pour out of the woods, which we begin to fire on. As I go to fire on one, I see a crossbow bolt sail straight through its head, and embed itself in the ground. I yell out,

“HOLD FIRE!”

This time, they listen to me, for the most part. Coming from the forest is Rick, Glen, T-dog, and Daryl. I yell out at the group,

“COME GET IN LINE! WE GOT MORE COMING!”

Without a single bit of hesitation, the group runs up with us, firing at walkers as they do. As they get in line, I yell out,

“ALRIGHT! LIGHT EM UP!”

*BANGBANGBANGBANG!*

[Several hours later]

[Walkers [37/50] - 130p]

[1490p]

I finish killing off the last walker as everyone gathers up corpses. Starting today, we’ll be leaving this camp. I can guarantee that. As I pull the dagger out of the walkers skull, I feel someone looking at me and spit Jim walking over to me. He speaks to me while looking at the ground,

“Hey, ah… Thanks… for saving the group. A lot more of us woulda died if you hadn’t gotten our heads outta our asses.”

I put my hand on his shoulder,

“It’s no problem. You guys are part of my group, of course I’m gonna make sure you guys survive.”

He nods his head and goes to get back to work. I decide to head and check on Amy. I walk past Morales, who I can see is having a chat with his wife. She seems to be arguing with him about something. I can guess what. But, no need to push myself into their conversation. I do want them to stay, so I’ll definitely try to convince her. Even if I have to lie.

I walk over to my truck and grab my backpack out of it, to get a medkit out. After that, I head to the RV.

I walk up to the door and knock on it. I hear a stuffed up voice call out,

“Come in.”

I walk in and see Amy asleep on the couch with her arm up on the table. On her arm is a bloody towel, which seems to have been soaked in blood. I speak to Andrea, whose tears have mostly dried,

“How’s she doing?”

She speaks to me with a stuffy nose,

“Haaah… She’s doing better. But, I can’t get the bleeding to stop.”

I notice that she doesn’t have a tourniquet on.

“Ah shit, can you hold her arm up? I need to get a tourniquet on her.”

She nods her head and lifts up the stump. I reach into my backpack and pull out a large red case full of emergency medical supplies. Looking at her injury, I decide to check for a first aid skill in the store.

[First Aid 1]

[-1000p]

I get a bit of a headache as the information enters my brain.

“Shit. Alright. Andrea, I’m gonna need your help, alright?”

She nods her head. I take out a bottle of rubbing alcohol,

“Alright, come wash your hands with this. We’re gonna put on gloves, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.”

She nods her head and comes over to the sink with me. The sink doesn’t actually work, so we’re just pouring the alcohol on our hands. I hold the bottle for her, and she holds it for me. After cleaning our hands, we put on a pair of vinyl gloves. Andrea goes to grab the bottle but I stop her with my elbow,

“No, now that the gloves are on, you don’t touch anything but her and the packaged supplies. If she gets an infection in her arm, she could die. Also, we don’t need the rubbing alcohol anymore.”

We go over to Amy, who is still knocked out on the couch. I say,

“Alright, I need you to remove the towel from her arm slowly. We don’t wanna reopen the wound. We’re gonna replace it with bandages.”

She starts removing the towel slowly, trying her best to keep her shaky hands steady. When the towel is removed, I inspect the cut. Luckily, I’m able to just barely spot the brachial artery. I take out the suture needle and speak to Andrea,

“If she wakes up, you have to keep her still, okay? I’m not a surgeon, so if she moves I could fuck up and make it worse.”

She nods her head and watches me. I insert the polypropylene thread into the suture needle. Luckily, the needle was packaged so it’s already good to go. I get to work on the suture, which is rather easy. Luckily, I’m able to get it done without much drama because Amy manages to stay asleep. I give Andrea a smile, which she returns with her own tired smile. All that’s left is to bandage up the wound. I’m rather impressed with myself, as it’s a pretty clean cut down the arm. Even the bone was severed smoothly.

I get Andrea to hold up the stump as I put the tourniquet on, tying it up as tightly as possible. After that, I start wrapping it up in sterile bandages. After it’s fully wrapped, a screen pops up in front of me,

[First Aid 1 level up!]

I smile and look at Andrea,

“Alright. She should be good so long as it doesn’t get infected. After about three hours, we’ll need to take off the tourniquet. I’ll put an alarm on my watch for it. You should get some sleep. I’ll have someone else come watch over her, okay?”

She goes to refuse, but I stop her,

“Look, she’ll want to have someone to talk to when she wakes up, alright? And I’m sure she wouldn’t wanna talk to me first, it would be you. You won’t exactly make for good conversation if you’re dozing off, now would you?”

She nods her head and says,

“Yeah… I just don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep…”

I motion for her to give me a second, and step out of the RV. I look around and spot Dale helping the group move one of the dead over to the bury group. I jog over to him and he instantly spots me, coming up to me and asking,

“How’s Amy? Is she doing good?”

I nod my head,

“Yeah, she should be fine as long as we keep that wound clean. Do you mind if Andrea sleeps in the RV?”

He shakes his head,

“No! Not at all! I was actually planning on letting the both of them sleep in it, and I’d take the tent!”

I shake my head,

“Yeah, I think we’ll be packing up soon. We can’t stay here any longer. I should’ve mentioned how unsafe this place was sooner. But, we’ll talk more about that after everything is taken care of. I’ll go let Andrea know. And could you send Jaqui my way? Amy’s gonna need someone to keep an eye on her for a while.”

He nods his head and heads off to grab Jaqui. I walk in and let Andrea know, and sit with Amy while Jaqui finds her way over. I manage to jerry-rig a sling to keep her arm elevated, as well. As Jaqui arrives, I head outside to help with the corpse retrieval.
