The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact

Chapter 29: The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [29]

The winds swirling around Jia Changjiang slowed his fall, cushioning the descent of the warrior who had been critically injured by Stormterror.

Finally, a figure crashed through the roof of the Church of Favonius, landing heavily within.

Jia Changjiang hit the ground with a tremendous force. The impact, combined with his exhaustion from battle, left his body battered and unconscious.

"Ahhhh!"

The sudden appearance of a man crashing into the church sent the people inside into a panic. Their alarm only grew as they noticed his severe injuries and the blood trickling from his mouth and nose, evidence of his fall from the sky.

Barbara, who had been praying before the Anemo Archon statue, froze as Jia Changjiang landed right in front of her. Shocked, she quickly composed herself and hurried over to check his injuries.

After a moment of inspection, she let out a small sigh of relief. Despite the severity of his wounds, none of them were immediately life-threatening.

For someone who had fallen from such a height, his condition could have been far worse.

Without hesitation, Barbara called upon her Vision to summon the healing power of Hydro, manipulating the surrounding water elements to tend to his wounds.

While Jia Changjiang remained unconscious, his system continued functioning in the depths of his mind.

[Quest Objective: Defeat Stormterror, Dvalin!]

[Quest Status: Partially Completed.]

[Rewards: Partial Calculation in Progress…]

[Calculation Complete: Special Weapon Access Granted—12 Hours.]

[Note! This weapon is highly dangerous. Use with caution! Repeat: Use with caution!]

The notification faded into the system logs, unnoticed by the unconscious Jia Changjiang.

Though Barbara's efforts had stabilized him and removed the immediate danger, his recovery would still require time.

At the church's entrance, hurried footsteps echoed as a familiar voice called out:

"This is Jean of the Knights of Favonius! I'm here to check on the man who fell from the sky!"

The door swung open as Jean entered, her expression a mix of concern and responsibility.

"The Knights of Favonius will take full responsibility for the damage caused," she added.

Jean quickly spotted Barbara kneeling beside Jia Changjiang, her hands glowing faintly with Hydro energy as she continued her healing.

"…Barbara."

Jean approached, her usual composed demeanor faltering for a moment as she glanced at her younger sister.

"Thank you for treating him. How is he?"

"Captain Jean…"

Barbara almost called out the childhood nickname she once used but quickly corrected herself.

"His injuries are severe," Barbara explained, steadying her voice. "There's significant damage from wind-element attacks, in addition to the wounds from his fall. I've healed much of it, but he'll need time to recover fully."

"Will he… wake up soon?"

Jean's tense expression softened as she heard that Jia Changjiang's condition wasn't critical.

"Yes, I believe so," Barbara reassured her.

"Thank you, Barbara." Jean gave her sister a small, grateful smile before kneeling beside the injured man.

"I'll take him back to the Knights' Headquarters," Jean said decisively.

Elsewhere, Lumine descended gracefully with her Wind Glider.

Amber rushed to meet her, gripping her shoulders. "Are you okay?!"

"We're fine! But that strange man in the sky earlier…"

Paimon answered on Lumine's behalf, still clearly rattled.

"Captain Jean is already looking for him," a voice interjected smoothly.

Kaeya approached from the shadows, his usual calm smirk in place. "Don't worry; he'll be fine. What surprises me is you two… able to fight a dragon head-on. The outlanders we've been meeting lately are quite something."

After introductions were made and Amber explained Lumine's arrival in Mondstadt, Kaeya nodded in understanding.

"I see… Well then, welcome to Mondstadt," he said. "On behalf of the Knights of Favonius, thank you for helping to drive back the dragon."

"No problem. Now, where's the reward?" Lumine replied without hesitation.

"Reward?" Kaeya chuckled, half-joking. "How about a plate of Mondstadt's finest Sticky Honey Roast?"

"Already got one of those earlier," Lumine said flatly.

"Well then," Kaeya continued smoothly, "Acting Grand Master Jean has taken an interest in you. How about we head to the Knights' Headquarters for a proper welcome?"

---

A while later, Jia Changjiang stirred. His eyes opened to find Jean and Lisa standing by his bedside.

"Jia Changjiang, you're awake," Jean said, her voice warm but noticeably tired.

After retrieving him from the church, she had been using her Anemo abilities to aid his recovery, leaving her visibly drained.

"Is this… the Knights' Headquarters?" Jia Changjiang asked hoarsely, glancing around. He attempted to sit up from the makeshift bed of chairs he had been placed on, wincing as pain shot through his body.

"Yes," Jean confirmed. "You fell from the sky and sustained serious injuries. Thankfully, Barbara was able to heal most of them."

"I see…" Jia Changjiang said, his tone thoughtful. "So, the dragon's been driven back. That blonde girl—Lumine, was it?—I take it you want to meet her?"

Jean nodded, her expression softening.

"Actually," Jia Changjiang said with a grin, "I wanted to meet her myself."

Jean straightened and offered a formal bow.

"Thank you for your assistance, Jia Changjiang. Mondstadt owes you a great debt."

Her voice grew somber as she continued, "It pains me to see how badly you were injured because of this. As Acting Grand Master, I feel deeply responsible. I… I don't know how to properly apologize."

Jean's face reflected a mixture of guilt and gratitude.

"Don't be so serious," Jia Changjiang replied with a chuckle, shaking his head as he eased back onto the bed.

"How about this?" he suggested, his grin widening.

Jean looked at him curiously.

"Consider this a favor between me and the Knights of Favonius."

"A… favor?"

Jean blinked, her usual composed demeanor replaced by a rare moment of confusion.

"Yep," Jia Changjiang said, extending a hand toward her.

Seeing her lingering guilt, he sought to offer her a way out.

"Don't worry—I'll call in this favor when the time is right. That way, you won't have to keep feeling guilty over this."

Jean hesitated, then clasped his hand.

"Alright," she said quietly, a faint smile forming on her lips.

Jia Changjiang leaned back, satisfied. "Good. Now that we've settled that, let's focus on what's next."
