The Witcher: Lord of the Empire

Chapter 19: The witcher’s Imprisonment

"This time it was an accident. It was supposed to be a simple bandit suppression. I will tell you about the details during dinner. It will be a perfect dinner table story." Lann explained.

This old man may be one of the few elders in the world who really cares about himself. Although the old man's lectures may be a nuisance to most people, to Lann it means that the old man still cares about him as if he were a member of his family. Even if he will ignore your precautions most of the time, he still has to respond to the other party.

“However, I have taken your words to heart, and I will be careful in the future.”

Enns nodded. Regardless of whether this guarantee was true or not, getting a response would give him some peace of mind.

“Or you can leave an heir first, and then go on those thrilling adventures later.”

“Ahem." Lann said quickly: “We’ll discuss it again; we’ll discuss it again.”

Lann stepped forward and touched Black Wind's mane, and the smooth feeling made him feel better. The old butler stared at Lann's back with an inexplicable expression and sighed softly.

I don’t know what Enns is thinking, but at least Lann’s mind is now full of thinking of a good enough return gift for the little girl.

...

City defense force, dungeon.

On the table where the blood was still wet was a row of knives, bags, and various unnamed bottles and jars. The most striking thing in the center of the table were two sharp swords with steel handles in the shape of a cat's head.

Two sharp swords. A steel sword, a silver sword. The steel sword punishes evil, and the silver sword kills monsters.

These are all rewards obtained from killing the witcher and belong to Lann.

Lann looked at the table for a moment, then reached out and picked up the steel sword. The mirror-like sword spine reflected Lann's profile. He felt that this was a good return gift, enough to match the 'Black Wind'.

However, the shape and weight are not right. Ciri cannot swing it, so it needs to be slightly modified.

Lann couldn't help laughing as he began to sketch out a simple design in his mind.

“She should like it, right?”

Lann is not short of a good sword. This steel sword is not one of those magical witcher weapons with special enchantment effects in the game. It is just a sword made of good material. In comparison, it is equivalent to a rookie's equipment in the game.

To say it is valuable, perhaps it is because of the most exquisite materials and craftsmanship, but that is it. The blacksmiths of the royal court also had the ability to create it. But Lann believed the story of the 'trophy' and the process of obtaining it would make Ciri particularly fond of the gift.

Compared with this steel sword, the other silver sword and these bottles of potions were not available in the circles that Lann came into contact with. Lann kept them all carefully and planned to wait until he was free later. Then see if it has any use.

Now, Lann has more important things.

In the cage behind him, the witcher Jad was tied to a wooden frame, and the wounds on his body were simply bandaged to prevent him from dying without trial.

An interrogator saw that Lann had finally finished counting the trophies and turned his attention to the witcher. Then he cautiously stepped forward and suggested: "Your Majesty, you don't need to do this kind of dirty work yourself. We've been doing it for decades..."

Lann waved his hand, making it clear that no one else was needed here. The winking interrogator quickly lowered his head and shut his mouth. There were also nobles with quirks. Not to mention interrogating prisoners in person, he had also seen people who captured 'prisoners' specifically for interrogation.

In the cell, when he heard the sound of footsteps, the witcher raised his head slightly, with an expected expression on his face:

"Noble kid, you are here after all..."

Lann looked around, pulled up a dirty wooden stool and sat down.

"If I had been in high spirits, I might have said something like, 'I shouldn't have come,' or 'But I came anyway.' But time is precious, and there's a lot I want to know. So, I think we'd better get started.”

“Hehe... it sounds like that kind of aristocratic affectation... more like a dialogue that should appear in the poetry of bards."

Lock me here and treat my injuries without letting the torturer come to question me. Obviously, the noble kid has some little secrets that he wants to get answered, but he doesn't want others to know... tell me, what are they?"

Lann smiled slightly and said: "Will you tell me if I ask you?"

Jad laughed wildly: "Do you believe what I say?"

Lann nodded and confirmed.

"I heard that the magical transformation of the witcher will cause great pain to the body. The process of becoming stronger is a torture in itself. In other words, your tolerance for pain is beyond ordinary people. Is there any truth to that?"

Jad smiled. "This is not something that ordinary people can hear. You have quite big ears."

Even in prison, the captured witcher seemed not to forget to taunt Lann, without showing any sign of weakness.

Lann said doubtfully: "You don't seem to be worried about what I will do next."

"Hehehe... I know that the interrogation techniques of you guys are nothing more than using knives and iron. But you can't imagine the pain I have experienced, physical and mental... I had hope, but it is broken now. And your people disabled my legs and hands again, which makes it impossible to rekindle my shattered hope."

"Hahaha, the reason why I stayed in this dungeon for so long without committing suicide is because I wanted to see the angry and furious expression on your aristocratic kid's face after you tried all your methods on me but got nothing. Tell me, Noble kid, how are you going to get something out of someone who has nothing?"

Crazy voices echoed in the prison, and Lann couldn't help but lean back a little to avoid the saliva sprayed everywhere by the witcher.

Lann smacked his lips. "I have also heard that the witchers of the Cat School are full of lunatics, and today I have seen that the reputation is well deserved. But..."

Lann suddenly turned and drew the long sword, stabbing it hard into the wooden frame between the witcher's legs, and then slowly raised the sword's pommel upward, allowing the cold blade to slowly approach the witcher's skin.

“Are you sure you have nothing to lose?”

The witcher's expression froze for a moment, and his breathing gradually became heavier.

"You seem to want to be a tough guy who uses his little life to resist the powerful. This is unnecessary. Because I am not that kind of noble, and you are not that kind of tough guy. And as a bandit leader, I don't know how many innocent people have been killed. You just make me laugh when you say something like that.”

Lann just held the handle of the knife between his two fingers. He stepped closer, and the sharp blade rotated little by little and tightened towards the witcher's lower body. "Of course, I must admit that you have rich life experience. Every witcher who can be released to live alone is old enough to be my father or even grandfather. You will definitely be able to withstand a normal punishment. I have complete confidence in you, or rather in the witchers."

"But I'm also very confident in my knowledge base. You can't imagine the amount of confusing knowledge I have in my mind, very advanced knowledge on how to make you talk."
