They Call Me Daddy (Honkai Star Rail)

Chapter 2: Character Creation

Wende stared at the virtual screen in front of him, bewildered.

Once the voice spoke into Wende’s mind, the entire observation car fell into a deathly silence. March 7th remained frozen in place, gazing out of the window, while Himeko’s juice stayed motionless in her cup, showing no signs of disturbance. Even the reliable Welt remained still on the sofa, his glasses-pushing motion frozen in place.

Time seemed to be forcibly frozen, leaving Wende as the only one who could move.

[There is one hour remaining until players login. Please finalize your character settings.]

[Note: The more beloved your character is by players, the more unexpected benefits you may gain.]

As Wende remained bewildered, the virtual screen in front of him switched to a familiar interface.

“Wait... isn’t this the character interface from Star Rail?”

Wende looked at the interface he knew well, where a character identical to him stood in the center. Aside from the character’s appearance and name, all other data fields were blank.

“Could it be... I have to turn myself into a playable character?”

An absurd thought popped into Wende’s head, but based on the current situation, it seemed to be true!

“Gulp...”

Looking at the available choices for paths and attributes on the interface, Wende swallowed nervously.

....................

Reality

After it was discovered that some could enter the game early, all players waiting for the Star Rail launch scrambled to open the game on their terminals, each hoping to secure a good UID.

However, when they saw the popup announcement on the game interface, all those trying to seize the opportunity collectively cursed.

“Damn it! What the hell!”

【QQ Group: Astral Express African Division】

【(Group Owner) Major March 7th Fan: WTF? Why was I kicked out! I just saw Kafka!】

【(Admin) Evil Will Bury Me: You bastard! The game isn’t even live yet! You tricked us again! I’m coming for you offline!】

【(Group Owner) Major March 7th Fan: No! Believe me! I really got in just now! And I even went through some of the storyline!】

【Kafka is My Eternal Wife: F*ck off! Wasting my time like that!】

As many QQ groups sighed and cursed the group owner for missing the launch opportunity, in the MiHoYo community, Wende’s face quietly appeared in the character roster of Star Rail.

Back on the Astral Express

Wende began adjusting his character attributes right away.

He had already come to terms with the fact that he had become a game character. Initially, he thought he had crossed over into a game world, but it turned out he had literally entered a "game world"!

However, there was no point in overthinking it now. Time was limited, and he had to finalize his character stats. This was not only crucial for his survival in this universe and for his future!

He hadn’t forgotten the system’s hint that more player attention could bring him benefits.

Wende’s expression grew serious. As a man who religiously followed the game for a whole year, he had memorized all character data, including optimal team compositions and various game mechanics.

According to the system, if he wanted to gain the most attention from players...

[Please choose your path.]

Wende didn’t hesitate and selected the path of “Abundance”.

Everyone knew in the early stages of Star Rail, there were only two healing characters. Most players had only one healer, the four-star character Natasha from Jarilo VI, while the other was the five-star “Dragon Lady” Bailu from the Xianzhou Luofu.

The five-star Bailu was naturally not easy to obtain, and only having a four-star Natasha in the early game was insufficient for progression. At the very least, it would be very difficult to tackle the Forgotten Hall.

Thus, choosing the path of Abundance from the start was definitely a good move!

Moreover, Wende noticed that his character's star rating was locked at four stars. Although the strength of a four-star character could be debated, it also meant that it would be easier to obtain.

As the saying goes, “If you can’t win through power, win with attrition!”

After selecting his path, Wende moved on to selecting his element. Elements were crucial in Star Rail because of the wekness break mechanic, so choosing the right type was essential.

After careful consideration, Wende chose lightning, the same type as Bailu.

Not for any spexific reason, but because being a human defibrillator made him easy to remember. Although he may overshadow the dragon girl, it was a necessary sacrifice! He needed to live after all.

Next came the most tedious part, setting his base stats. This was the most important part next to of the characters skills. Not even the eidolons are as important as this!

However, as a four-star character, the system imposed many restrictions on Wende’s stats, confining them within the four-star range.

Wende used Natasha’s initial health and attack power as a baseline, time flew by as Wende adjusted the data to fit his needs.

After about ten minutes, Wende sighed in relief, looking at the stats on the panel, and couldn’t help but laugh.

Wende set himself to have the lowest base attack and highest base health values in Star Rail. His defense is slightly above average. Essentially making Wende an unkillable healer that couldn’t do damage.

But that’s not an issue for him; having plenty of healing is key! As long as he don’t die, he can heal you from any damage!

With the remaining time, Wende focused all his energy on developing his eidolons and traces, adding some “special features” beyond just healing. He managed to finalize the Eidolons in the last few minutes, all within the system’s allowed range.

As a healer who doesn’t need much strategizing or thought to be effective, Wende set his eidolon attributes to ensure maximum healing and survival, focusing on high healing output above all else!

To this end, the system even forced him to have a nude photo shoot for his eidolon images.

After finalizing all the character attributes, the system prompted Wende to choose his level up materials, most of which were fixed and had the same sources, so Wende followed the system’s guidance.

“Character creation complete. Please wait patiently…”

After submitting everything, the screen in front of Wende displayed only an ellipsis indicating waiting.

At the moment of data submission, a gaze full of affection and vitality, mingled with something strange, was cast upon Wende…
