Chapter 4: Stealing From Thieves.
A month following Viktor's arrival into the DC universe, he had continued to make progress in secret. During that month, he had pushed himself hard nonstop, and in doing so his natural mana reserves continued to increase. As a result of the pressure of containing two Longinus in his soul, he could push his physical abillities beyond that of his Heavenly Restriction.
Thanks to that starting point, his body was already superhuman, and his senses, instincts, and general ability allowed him to learn at an accelerated pace. As a result, in one month he had made considerable progress to reach his current level of ability.
As usual, he had created another Bounded Field around his stolen house where he was in the middle of a spar with his only sparing partner. Yami, the former puppy now double his old size was holding a black sword in his mouth.
As for Viktor, in his right hand he was holding a dark longsword and the two of them were jumping into the shadows before popping out of another shadow. Viktor and Yami charged at each other before they began to swing their swords at each other.
The darkness around Yami's feet burst outward and launched toward Viktor like dark spears. To counter, Viktor's own shadow grew and solidified into a dark shield stopping the spears.
Viktor jumped over the wall of solidified darkness before he kicked off it to launch himself at Yami. The black dog jumped into the air and he moved his sword from the the left side of his mouth to the right.
He jumped into the air and he swung his sword against Viktor's midair. The two leviated in the air, before they disengaged and jumped away from each other. Viktor spun midair before landing on his feet which Yami copied perfectly.
Yami was a much better swords-dog than Viktor was, but then again, Yami was a literal sword in the shape of a dog. Viktor wasn't ashamed to admit that he was only holding his own since Yami was training him.
"Well fought."
Yami and Viktor dropped their swords which burst apart into shadows. Yami launched himself at Vikor who caught the black red-eyed dog in his arms. Yami flipped around showing off his belly for scratches that Viktor gave to him.
"Thanks, pal, your a good dog."
Viktor was proud of himself as in one month thanks to Yami and his Toji ingrained instincts he had gotten the handle of swords faster than normal. He felt pretty confident in going out to face the criminals of this world, but the issue was Flash.
This was Central City and Flash was literally a flash away from being anywhere. That is why he was going to play it smart and act after dark. With plenty of shadows, he could retreat before anyone found him much less the Flash.
Of course, he wasn't going to be Flashy about it either so that is why he decided to take a cue from Batman. He set Yami down before he looked at the watch he stole from a guy who got tossed out of a bar for disorderly conduct.
It was an cheap digital watch, but he just needed it for the time. It was currently 6:30 PM meaning that sunset wouldn't be for another two hours. He put down his arm before he walked back to his house.
After he got inside, he snapped his fingers and brought down the Bounded Field. He walked toward the couch which he dropped onto. He sat himself back on the couch before he focused on the feeling of his mana.
His magic was always flowing through his body, filling him with strength, and energy and increasing his reaction speed. Not just that, it fueled all his abillities from Canis Lyakon to Incinerate Anthem. Speaking of that Sacred Gear, he had made some progress in controlling the flames.
He held his hand up to the air and a light purple fire burned in the palm of his hand. Under his control, it changed form into a serpent which coiled around his hand, to a scorpion, then a dragon.
He raised his right hand where a black cursed fire from Canis Lyakon tried to merge with the flames of Holy Flames of Incinerate Anthem. Of course, problems started as while the two fires didn't clash they didn't mix.
They just swirled around each other, but it was a step in the right direction. For the next two hours, he continued to toy with the flames he could control before he gave up. When the sun finally went down, he stood up from his couch with Yami at his side.
He glanced down at Yami before he smiled.
"Let's see if we can't find some criminals to stop."
Yami barked with an excited bark which made Viktor happy. He focused on his mana and he opened a shimmering magic circle under his feet. Over the last month, he had walked around all of Central City so he teleported closer to the business distract.
Despite the danger of committing crime with The Flash protecting Central City, some still were either desperate enough or simply arrogant and did it anyway. Viktor and Yami appeared on the roof of a jewelry store as some foolish robbers tried to rob the jewels inside.
Their boss was a Meta-Human who thought he was invincible, but the Flash put him down easily. As for his gang, the Flash tied them up and left them for the police before leaving. Flash was always active since The Speed Force caused him to not require 8 hours of sleep.
Flash could get away with very little sleep so he often came out at night when his Police Radio went off. Viktor to hide his identiy waved his hand causing the shadows to rise up his body. Under his control, the shadows solidified into a streamlined set of black armor.
This way, his identity would remain secret even if a camera saw him. Following his example, Yami did the same thing creating a dog shaped set of armor to hide his features. It would be pretty damning if the police recognized Yami so with that, the two of them began their first night patrol.
They used the shadows to travel at a quick pace and they were super humanly fast able to travel across roof tops to keep a high vantage point. For the first hour, they didn't see anything until Viktor spotted something.
He saw a black van driving up to a bank followed by several more. The back of the first van opened up and out emerged 6 men in all black and rifles in their hands. One of them brought out a hand held device which he threw toward the bank.
After a few moments a burst of energy took down the elctronics in the bank and the surroundings. One of the men motioned them to move forward toward the bank. Viktor watched on with intrest as DC criminals had access to some high tech weapons.
When they reached the front doors, he watched as they placed a device on the front door. After getting away from the doors, one of the men walked toward the door and he kicked the doors open.
Once the doors were open the other trucks opened up revealing more men which moved into the bank. This was perfect, so Viktor fell into the shadows with Yami before appearing inside the bank hanging off the ceiling.
He glanced over at Yami who nodded at him so Viktor dropped off the ceiling. As he fell, he focused and he created a Bounded Field isolating the bank and everyone inside. When he fell his heavy armor cracked the marble floor and obviously alerted the would-be thieves.
He did so right in front of them so they all trained their guns on him.
"OPEN FIRE!"
One of them yelled and with that a stream of bullets hurled toward him, but they bounced off his shadow armor. At extremely high speeds he arrived in front of the one who ordered them to shoot before he punched the man in the chest.
He sent the man flying with one punch before he ran toward the next one. His fist connected with his jaw once again launching the gunman away. Yami now at his side charged at one of the gunmen and the man's own shadow betrayed him.
It solidified into a tentacle of darkness which wrapped around his throat before throwing him toward the wall. Viktor clentched his fists and he spun around as tendrils of darkness formed around his arms.
He spun around smashing them into the chests, legs, and bodies of the gunmen who were helpless to stop him. He charged toward the last man and he planted his armored boot into the stomach of the man.
With that, all 13 gunmen who had come here to rob this bank had been dealt with.
"That wasn't bad at all."
Yami jumped onto his shoulder as their first outing had been a success. Sure, they didn't have any money to steal, but he did take their guns. He collected the 13 gunmen before he tied them up with the bank lines together.
After this, he and Yami left the same way they came, by falling into the dark. When the Bounded Field went down, Viktor continued his patroll. That was the only major criminal activity he had to stop as other than a few drug dealers, muggers or a few thieves nothing major happened.
He burned the products of the dealers, tied up the muggers and thieves after taking their money. He continued his activities until the sun started rising which he took as his cue to return to his home.
When he looked at his watch, he saw that it was 7 AM so after finding a quite ally he teleported directly back home. Through out the night he didn't get any chances to use his flames or swords as he wasn't out to kill.
He could probibly have done so, but he knew that would get him labeld a enemy of the League. Plus, his plan was to join the League, not make an enemy of them so he was satisfied with his actions.
When he teleported into his home, he smiled to himself as his armor fell apart into shadows. Yami did the same and if Viktor had to say so, he got a good haul of stolen money. Around 2,345 Dollars across multiple Drug Dealers, muggers and thieves he had punished.
He took what they stole which meant he would be able to keep buying his food to cut his need to steal. After he fell onto the couch, he glanced at Yami with a smirk.
"What do you think those Bank Robbers will say?"
Yami didn't know, but he didn't think anything good.
---
As Viktor asked this, the CCPD had been getting calls of people tied up to poles and streat lights. However, when the employees of the bank arrived for work, they were shocked to find 13 men tied up groaning in pain.
The floor was also covered in bullets which meant a major crime took place. After sending several officers and their forenseic sciencets to see what the heck happen. One of the officers brought up his walkie talkie.
"Were going to need some ambulances out here."
After that, he looked at the state they were in. Some were drooling, others seemed terrifed. He looked for one less injured and found one muttered to himself.
"You, what happened?"
"The dark came, the dark moved. The dark came to life."
The officer looked really weirded out.
"Some check the Cameras. Get these guys to the hospital and get them into custody. Where is Barry?"
As he said that, Barry Allen ran in.
"Sorry I am late, Joe. I am here now."
Joe West, shook his head as he looked at his son-in-law.
"I told you to wake up early, look around. See if you find anything."
"Got it Joe."
With that Barry got to work using his Forensic knoledge to look for clues. From the look of it, some other vigalante had taken action. If Barry was being honest, this work reminded him of Batman's MO.
The talking of the dark, the fear and the injuries checked out. Of course he knew Bruce rarely bothered to leave Gotham so someone else did this, but who?
