Transforming Succubus: Almost Doomsday

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Ling Hansu

Once his tone softened, Zhou Baiyu seemed to have returned to being the gentle Zhou Baiyu he originally was.

Of course, there wasn't really such a thing as "switching accounts."

Whether it was his unrestrained side or the self-disciplined side that appeared later, they were all actually himself.

This wasn't a split personality, but rather "mask" management.

Ling Hansu nodded, she had truly decided to help Zhou Baiyu and planned to withhold nothing and tell all.

But as soon as she began to speak, her brain suddenly throbbed with pain.

The two were sitting on the hotel sofa when the intense pain struck, causing Ling Hansu to clutch her head and lean towards Zhou Baiyu.

Zhou Baiyu was also taken aback; he believed that this definitely wasn't the simple girl's doing because as Ling Hansu held her head, her eyes filled with blood vessels and blood seeped from her ears, nose, and mouth.

A pretty young girl had suddenly turned somewhat ghastly.

"Damn… don't talk, shut up!"

In agony, Ling Hansu nonetheless nodded, signaling she would comply.

However, once she stopped speaking and quieted down, the intense pain quickly subsided.

Zhou Baiyu pulled out some tissues and gently wiped away the blood from Ling Hansu's face—

How did you survive to become a second-phase Sky Eye?

He really wanted to ask her, but upon second thought, it seemed the girl truly had no desire to hide anything, and she was about to divulge everything unreservedly the moment he asked.

So she nearly triggered a "deletion" mechanism.

Lin once mentioned that detailed information for each version, whether released or obtained, required the payment of pre-emptive value.

Forcing a release would result in being erased.

Watching Ling Hansu's pitiful state, Zhou Baiyu felt a slight headache.

On one hand, he felt sorry for the young girl.

On the other, he couldn't afford to be soft-hearted; he had to continue his conditioning, making her trust no one but himself.

"Before the mission, I ought to filter through her previous predecessors' contacts; from now on, this Sky Eye will be serving me. As she is really too naive, I still need to find a way to make her cautious of other people."

After learning the rules from Lin, Zhou Baiyu actually guessed a lot.

Ling Hansu was a Sky Eye, and moreover, a second-phase peeper; no power would take her lightly.

But even such an entity was forced to resort to blindly fumbling for self-rescue.

"But now she's survived, I have to consider her previous masters, who may try to shamelessly take her back."

"That would be a very bad situation because it might expose me as well."

"I must thoroughly sever her ties with those people from her past."

Zhou Baiyu didn't find this to be difficult.

Ling Hansu naturally felt guilty towards him, and he was very clear... the Mutator's abilities seemed to be restricted in the real world.

But their divine characteristics were not.

The Sixth Sense player, the Orator—these two characteristics explained a question Zhou Baiyu had always had—

Why his words were so infectious, capable of easily stirring people's emotions.

With these two characteristics, training... no, educating a young girl, was very easy.

Patted Ling Hansu on the back, Zhou Baiyu poured her a cup of hot water.

"Here, drink some water, take it easy for a bit."

Ling Hansu obediently took the cup and gulped it down, finishing the whole glass.

Zhou Baiyu watched and found it somewhat amusing.

"When you were a child, were you often asked to lend money?"

"Yes... how did you know?" Ling Hansu widened her eyes as she looked at Zhou Baiyu.

The bloodshot in her eyes had receded, and the pain from before was gone, as if nothing had happened.

Zhou Baiyu also secretly breathed a sigh of relief, guessing that Ling Hansu was alright:

"It's not easy that you're still alive and looking well-fed,"

"Because although everyone bullied me at first, they all became very good to me later on."

This answer made Zhou Baiyu startle a moment, then he nodded with deep meaning.

He thought Ling Hansu was foolish... but maybe it was her nearly foolish sincerity that made everyone in her social circle treat her extra well.

Thinking about it carefully, if she could stay so foolish, it meant that not many people had hurt her.

If life had deceived her through and through, perhaps this girl would have grown up to be someone completely different.

Thinking so, Zhou Baiyu actually felt a bit of pity. But he didn't give up on his own ideas.

Seven days ago, for him, the world had completely changed.

This world could turn cruel at any moment, and to safely survive, he needed to erase many unstable factors:

"Ling Hansu, remember this, the first priority is to survive, the second is to be obedient, and to think more. Don't get so agitated that you forget all the rules of the game."

Ling Hansu nodded:

"Okay... alright. I just wanted to tell you some of the most crucial information, but as soon as I started talking, I remembered I'm not supposed to say it, thankfully I didn't actually say it..."

Once said, perhaps it would truly have been erased.

Zhou Baiyu had already realized that this seemingly normal world was now shrouded by a set of extremely abnormal rules.

"Just talk about what you can, before we enter the transfer station, I want to understand a few issues," Zhou Baiyu became serious.

Ling Hansu had completely recovered and also looked earnest:

"You ask."

"First question—what is your exclusive personal trait? You should be able to, like me, check your personal panel, right?"

When Zhou Baiyu said "First question," he paused for a while, but finished the sentence in his mind.

Realizing that there was no intense pain, he was assured that probably, as long as it didn't involve version content, there would be no problem.

So he decided to inquire about other information first, as pre-combat preparation—starting from understanding the strengths of his teammates.

"I can, I can."

Ling Hansu nodded, then continued:

"My trait... it's called... called..."

She suddenly felt a bit embarrassed, although the young girl was very innocent, she had still heard some racy jokes.

"One Shot Soul."

After saying these four words, Ling Hansu blushed, because she didn't quite understand what One Shot Soul meant at first.

After successfully returning to the original world, she looked it up...

Thus for a long time, Ling Hansu thought... she was capable of that something.

Although she later clarified the meaning, she still found the term difficult to speak out loud.

Zhou Baiyu was shocked.

Sky Eyes naturally had an information advantage, as long as they were good at thinking, they could resolve many issues without bloodshed.

He felt... although not smart, he was more suitable to be a Sky Eye.

But he was a shameless Mutator. And this ridiculously foolish girl before him was a Sky Eye.

Yet... as a Sky Eye, she had a Divine characteristic that would be absolutely godly on a Mutator.

One Shot Soul, this damn miracle-working Divine characteristic, the ultimate pursuit of a gambler. No wonder she's so foolish and still advanced to the second tier.

Zhou Baiyu sighed to himself:

"If we switched roles, I'd make those monsters understand what true cruelty is."

But unfortunately, a switch was impossible.

Zhou Baiyu quickly accepted the situation and said:

"Not a bad talent. Do you have any other characteristics?"
