Chapter 136
As the night grew dimmer so was the forthcoming invasion of a race of monsters from the shore of Awdita.
The cascading sand was noticeably elevated as it neared the forest, while it dipped lower by the shore where the sand was constantly shifting from the movement of creatures.
While the evening had been so unkind to Naell and the knights, the passing minutes were kind enough to let them identify the monsters' and their rank.
"Shokroi— B-rank monsters primarily found in the deeper part of the sea, known for their numbers and carnivorous nature. Please be advised not to engage their generals known as Sirenas or Sirenos, and or their awakened counterpart, Kataw in the open sea."
The one who read the information aloud was Sead—a marine adventurer whose collection of data stored in his spatial ring proved its worth in that situation.
All truly appreciated it as they quickly came up with a strategy to enact until reinforcements could arrive.
Keeping the element of surprise, the elven knights began their attack; using their mana that could control the trees, and aura that grew stronger under the forest atop the shores. Even with their lesser numbers, they could make an ambush that managed to confuse the enemies.
While doing so Owly and Naell were providing the support, sealing their enemies' movements with [ nightmare ] a spell that temporarily puts those who were affected into a fearful trance, and [ snow road ] that basically makes it hard for those who will walk on it.
"Remember they're quite fast even on land!" Shouted Sead who was currently commanding the small force.
Although it could be said that their attacks were causing minuscule damage to the incoming army, they managed to slow down the advances and prevented casualties on their side.
That much was already fruitful considering how many minutes they were able to hold them off. Yet celebrations were short as the enemies' numbers kept growing.
[ Don't let them enter any further ! ]
Nimbly, the knights and adventurers who were below retreated, while those from above-provided support.
Collectively, that was what they decided as their foes managed to intimidate them with their intense numbers and even the pressuring power.
Naell and Owly even flinched. Yet what made them all agree with the duo flinching momentarily was the realization that they were facing none other than the pieces of Lucile.
Awthra, the Bishop's pawn; and another two unknown figures stood side by side, bathing the sea with their trembling manas and aura.
Naell gazed at the two unfamiliar foes on either side of Awthra: to her left was a tall sturdy man that could be likened to Odino in size. To her right the man appeared lanky and less threatening, yet had round golden frames sitting atop his snub nose and a seemingly annoyed expression. Absurdly, their robes seemed dry despite their previous submersion in water.
Without even a mere second of their full appearance, the bombarding flames of Awthra began its siege towards the knights gathered in the high ground, and Naell's party who was currently retreating.
She then shouted, "Finally, I'll make you pay for everything!"
Due to that, Naell placed his [ Snow fortress ] at the high ground to block Awthra's attack. He also summoned [ snow cannons ] that fired off highly pressurized blocks of ice at the incoming monsters.
Owly in turn used his dark magic to fend off the flame. The elven knights at the high ground and those who were with them including Sead also began using their bows.
"We really need to retreat now! That female mage is tantamount to calamity." Said one of the elves who were terrified of the fiery flame Awthra produced.
Naell couldn't help but agree seeing how she improved her skills and mana. Yet what was more troubling to him was the two on Awthra's side that annoyed him.
Seeing his reaction, Sead then asked, "Do you know her young master?"
In response, Naell then said cautiously, " She was one of the people who invaded Taglagas."
Upon that revelation, Sead and the others became more persistent with their retreat, yet they didn't know that Naell's thoughts were centered far more on the stranger that was beside Awthra.
'He's powerful...'

When Lady Fle and Queen Sevle heard of the news, they immediately deployed their armies, but what they prioritized was the evacuation of their kin.
Although it was an abandoned shoreline, there were indeed still elves living in that area. They were often the secluded ones that were really hard to bother.
The two were currently awaiting the status of the invasion. As much as Fle wanted to help out she chose to stay in the castle to protect her cousin and queen.
Recalling the Taglagas invasion and the attempted assassination of the king, it was not outside the realm of possibility for Reyna to do the same in Awdita, and invade the palace. Hence the two could only believe in their knights, deployed adventurers, and of course, Naell and Owly who were in the middle of the fight.
The last news they heard was that the duo, Sead, and some selected elven knights were still outside of the fortress Naell made. They were currently fending off the identified student of the bishop of Lucile—Awthra, and her two unknown partners.
Young master Naell and his company were able to preoccupy the trio but they were having a hard time retreating to the high ground."
Telepathically relayed one of the captains overseeing the battle. One of the advantages of being born among, and as one of those blessed by nature, was to have the ability to learn a wide range of telepathic communication.
So long as there was a forest nearby which was Awdita itself; and further, since it was a national secret, only high-ranking knights could perform such feats.
And on the off chance where the secret could be leaked, elves undoubtedly would not use it until they are certain no one else is using it.
Hence why a knight immediately ran off upon the monsters' arrival. It was not to arrive in Awdita faster but to make haste and share the news reliably by word of mouth.
