Transmigration: The Peerless Immortal Husband

Chapter 6 - Past Events

As Chi Changye and Gu Yao had predicted, when Tian Feirong returned late at night and reported the matter of the Changxian Sect token, the Tian family’s main residence was lit up throughout the night. No one in charge could sleep.

“Gu Wenhai, that old bastard, is really slippery and hateful!” The Tian family head’s eyes nearly bulged with rage. He raised his hand and threw a tea cup nearby, smashing it on the ground. “That little bastard Gu Yao has suffered so much humiliation, yet he’s still willing to hand over the token?”

Tian Feirong’s father, Tian Qishan, said, “I’m afraid Gu Yao had no choice. To protect himself, he had to hand over the token. Otherwise… Father, in another six months, the Immortal Ascension Conference will be upon us.”

The Tian family head certainly had not forgotten about this matter, but he was seething with hatred. “Gu Wenhai, like his son Gu Zhiming, is an ungrateful dog. They must have received many good things from the Feng siblings back in the day. Feng Yunting died trying to save Gu Zhiming, but how did the Gu family treat Gu Yao?”

The Tian family head hated Gu Yao, feeling like he could not bear to see how the Gu family had bullied him and yet allowed him to hand over such an important item!

Tian Feirong, not knowing much about the older generation’s affairs, was curious. “Who exactly were the Feng siblings? How did Gu Yao’s uncle come to possess something as valuable as the Changxian Sect token?”

Tian Qishan replied, “As for their exact background, even the head of the Gu family may not know. Feng Yunting’s cultivation wasn’t impressive, but her brother, Feng Yinhua, was a master comparable to the ancestors of our three families. Back then, Feng Yunting was mesmerized by Gu Zhiming’s appearance and married into the Gu family. Because of that, Feng Yinhua stayed in our town for a while. But before he could see his nephew born, he disappeared without a trace. Feng Yunting died without ever seeing him again, and we all thought that Feng Yinhua had met with misfortune. Their bond must have been strong, or perhaps he’s trapped somewhere and can’t return.”

“Hmph, there was something else from back then. Actually, Feng Yinhua’s strength was far beyond what he let on. He was injured. When he left, he was intercepted by two Foundation Establishment cultivators on the road. Even so, Feng Yinhua still managed to escape,” the Tian family head said, somewhat uncomfortable as he mentioned this, but then he gave up on hiding the truth. “Now, this matter can’t be kept quiet anymore.”

Tian Qishan was shocked. “Could it have been the two ancestors of the Gu and Lu families who made a move?”

At this, the Tian family head no longer tried to hide it and continued, “Exactly. That year, the ancestors and I were hiding in the shadows and saw the two families make a joint move against Feng Yinhua. However, Feng Yinhua saw through them and overheard their conversation, which is how we found out that he was injured. That was when the Gu and Lu families harbored ill intentions and tried to capture him when he was leaving. Feng Yinhua had a lot of valuable things on him.”

Though the Tian family might have considered the same idea, they were more cautious. When they saw how powerful Feng Yinhua was, they didn’t dare to reveal themselves. The ancestors speculated that Feng Yinhua might have noticed their presence.

“The battle was intense, but because it took place far from our town, it didn’t alarm the people here. In the end, Feng Yinhua managed to escape, and the two old bastards were wounded,” the Tian family head continued. “At the time, the ancestors of the Tian family wanted to take the opportunity to eliminate those two old men, but unfortunately, he was alone without any backup, so he could only retreat with regret and return to the town. From that time on, the Gu and Lu families grew even closer.”

Tian Feirong was stunned, not expecting that Gu Yao had such a powerful uncle. It was a pity that he had ended up in such a predicament. “So, is it because of this that Gu Yao and Lu Minzhu have a betrothal? Could it be related to this matter?” The two families were getting closer, and the Tian family had suffered a lot from their combined pressure.

The Tian family head stroked his beard and said, “I suspect so. Only through a marriage alliance can the two families be bound together. Besides, one of them is Feng Yinhua’s nephew. Even if Feng Yinhua returns safely in the future, out of respect for this marriage, he may not hold any grudges against the Lu family.”

“What about now that the Gu family has obtained the Changxian Sect token? What are we supposed to do?” Tian Qishan asked, worried.

The Tian family head sighed, “Now, we’ll have to see how things unfold with Ruer. She sent a message saying that she plans to enter seclusion soon to attempt Foundation Establishment. If she succeeds, even if that little brat from the Gu family joins the Changxian Sect, it won’t matter. The Gu family wants to dominate, but they’ll have to wait until Gu Yan establishes his Foundation at Changxian Sect before they can do anything.”

“Ruer is attempting Foundation Establishment?” Tian Qishan asked in surprise.

The Tian family head nodded. “She had planned to wait until the end of her seclusion and see the result before announcing it, so we didn’t make it public at home. She said she has a 60% chance of success. As her father, I hope everything goes smoothly for her. But for now, let’s keep this matter quiet.”

With a 60% success rate, there was still a 40% chance of failure. If it failed, it would be a big embarrassment. The Tian family head’s anticipation for his daughter’s Foundation Establishment grew even more.

“Yes, Father.”

“Yes, Grandfather.”

“Feirong, since Gu Yao is with you, take care of him. Whether Feng Yinhua is alive or dead is still uncertain. When Feng Yinhua left decisively back then, he might not have left without precautions.” Moreover, Gu Yao, who was driven out of the Gu family, was now being cared for by his grandson. Others might think that the Tian family had higher morals than the Gu family. It would be a chance to slightly embarrass the Gu family. The last time the Gu and Lu families joined forces to seize a mine from the Tian family, it made the Tian family head furious.

“Yes, Grandfather, I understand,” Tian Feirong replied, feeling quite pleased with himself. Exposing the “Drunken Beauty” and taking in Gu Yao was largely because the Tian family and the Gu family were at odds. The rest of the reason was that he found Gu Yao quite interesting that day.
