Trap Online

After a trip, I arrived at Lady Yancy's massive tower. I walked in, and Ryan stood looking at me with a neutral expression. I almost blustered for no reason as I brought myself before the well-suited butler. "I have something to present to Lady Yancy, although I am unsure if she would be interested," I told Ryan, and he raised an eyebrow at me.

"Is whatever you are presenting the reason you have not been around?" Ryan asked, his voice neutral.

"Yes."

"Then follow me; I am sure that Lady Yancy will find time for you soon."

Ryan didn't show much emotion as he started to head to one of the transporters, which I was sure went up to Lady Yancy's waiting room. For some reason, I was feeling nervous as I had not been here for a couple of days as I was seeking out the cure. I thought I could take days off, and I informed Ryan that I had some things to take care of beforehand. It wasn't like I did not just show up for a couple of days.

Now, I was questioning if that was okay.

When we arrived at the transporter, we were swiftly brought into Lady Yancy's room, and I gulped for some reason. I was a damn negotiator for a decade. I could handle myself in negotiations. I shook my head to dispel the nerves and stepped forward and toward the couch of the room to wait. 

"Lady Yancy is ready to see you, Elli," Ryan suddenly said as he reached the door and opened it for me. 

Without having time to sit, I moved and realized this also got rid of my time to think about things. Then again, I didn't really have any plans at this point. I didn't know Lady Yancy's plans or the organization behind her or their plans. I was a frog at the bottom of a well looking up. I was so tiny and inconspicuous while giants roamed around getting real things done.

In real life, I was a major player that maintained neutrality in these major games. I could affect Elections for the presidency and state legislators with the wealth I had in my hands. That equated to real power if I started to make moves. I never had, though, and it would take time to build that.

Grand Adventure Online seemed to have hundreds if not thousands of organizations, all partitioned into three main groups. I had no idea what games were being played. All I knew was that my backer was Mistress, and she was a major player from the Demon affiliation.

As I stepped into Lady Yancy's office, I saw her picking a book from her bookshelf, but I could not see the name of it as she pulled it down. She walked steadily toward her desk as I walked toward her desk myself, and she sat down in her chair. I reached the desk and put the book down without saying a word, and started to eye me up.

"So you have not been here for a couple of days," Lady Yancy said, her voice seeming Carefully neutral. "Lady Greencloak missed you yesterday; she was hoping to have your services soon. She told me that the next time you were in, she would make some time to enjoy your services thoroughly. Even had something that she wanted to discuss with you personally," 

I shivered at the mention of Lady Greencloak and her almost infinite stamina and her rough treatment of me. I nodded, though, as Lady Greencloak was a good experience as well. "I understand; I will be back soon; I just need to complete something," I told Lady Yancy, "In fact," I pulled out the antidote to the upcoming plague, "This is the reason that I have not been around for the last couple of days."

Lady Yancy reached out, took the bottle in her hands, and looked at the liquid inside before putting it down. "What is it, and is this what you intend to present me with?" Lady Yancy asked, her voice sounding weird to my ears. 

Something about her tone was off, but now she was looking at me, and I took a moment to breathe. "There are rumors in the slums that a plague is about to break out," I told her. I saw her raise an eyebrow, but that was it, "My Sisters requested me to help them find a cure as it was said that some of the righteous affiliated churches in the slums already had a cure," Lady Yancy's eyes narrowed. I could see her looking at the liquid in the bottle, "After a couple of days, I got that," I said, pointing to the liquid, "With the Brotherhood telling me that it will help with the illness, although not exactly in those terms." 

Lady Yancy now looked intrigued and looked down at the liquid, then up at me, "Interesting, a little business opportunity here if we were interested in such low gains," Lady Yancy said slowly. "I am happy that you offered this to me, Elli," Lady Yancy said, "This shows that you are thinking about this place as a place to stay long term instead of short term. Still, to turn my resources to making something so small and insignificant as a cure to this plague where others already have a cure? Too small of a profit incentive," She concluded.

"I believed it was prudent as someone who has benefited from your," I paused to think of the right words, "Agency, it would be in my best interest to bring you the opportunity at least," I finished.

"Good, I would rather you bring something like this to my attention so I may decide for myself," Lady Yancy said, and suddenly, Ryan came into the room. "Ryan," Lady Yancy said, turning to the butler, "Please take this to Ben; he will be interested in seeing what the churches are cooking lately."

"Certainly, Milady," Ryan said, took the cure, and left the room quickly.

Seconds later, I was alone in the room with Lady Yancy again, and she leaned back in her chair, "Hm, For now, I have no clients for you as you informed me you are taking some days off. I assume for that project, but Lady Greencloak has only so much patience, and she does enjoy your presence," She told me, "Please drop by within the next two or three days, Elli; you may leave now," Lady Yancy dismissed me, and I left the room.

I had no idea if I would get anything out of that in the end, but it was a good choice. I wonder when we will get a quest completed sign?

I headed back to our place to hear what happened with everyone else when they turned in their cure.
