"Well, Dinner is ready for all of us," Li said, clearly changing the topic, and I nodded. "I will be there in a minute; let the ladies know in Gabby's room, Victoria and I exited the pods a little later than usual today," I told her, and Li nodded before leaving the room.

I looked at my phone, and I knew that if I told my daughter we were going for a night out to laser tag, she would most likely drop everything to join us. I didn't want her to do that, though. I wanted her to enjoy her university life with both its ups and downs. Projects sucked, as did studying almost every day. But it came with those highs and lows that made the experience worth it in the end.

I sighed, hoping that I wasn't making excuses to myself to not feel guilty for not telling her as I exited the room.
