Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Am I the “Battle Companion”?

The moon shone bright but the stars were few, and the once-bustling University Town was now cloaked in silence.

It was already three in the morning. The windows of the dormitory building flickered with a few sources of light. Only those at the Great Ascension Stage could continue battling at their computers at this hour.

Ning Chu was still sleepless tonight.

Propping his chin on one hand in front of the computer, he wanted to play a game but lacked the motivation. He wanted to sleep, but his mind was filled with chaotic thoughts. So, he aimlessly clicked on web pages, his eyes unfocused on the computer screen.

Knock knock! “Not sleeping yet?”

A raspy male voice floated down, and with a slight shake of the bed frame, a tall and sturdy man descended from the bunk.

Ning Chu merely stole a glance at him and pressed his lips tight without replying.

It had been over a week since he arrived in this parallel world, and he still couldn’t wrap his head around it.

This made him appear unusually introverted in front of his roommate.

“School has been in session for two weeks; why are you always so quiet?” the roommate grumbled softly as he walked to the balcony.

Ning Chu sighed lightly and opened the hard drive on his computer, pulling up a document of his novel.

If there was any benefit to his transmigration, it was probably this.

This was a world of novels, a Small Royal Text, and it was one he had personally typed out before crossing over.

Who knew he would end up in his own novel? If he had known, he wouldn’t have written a Small Royal Text!

After his transmigration, the entire novel came along into this world, and Ning Chu could freely revisit the characters and events described in it.

Wen Yang…

The male lead, Wen Yang, was the roommate who had just gone to the bathroom.

Unlike the brave warrior in the book, the real-world Wen Yang didn’t even have a girlfriend yet and was currently a little virgin.

Ning Chu quickly flipped through the novel, matching the characters with the reality one by one.

“Old Two, Wang Jie.”

Wang Jie, the second roommate, appeared in two chapters of the novel and served as a supporting character to Wen Yang. It took Ning Chu a full two days to locate his parts in the story.

“Old Three… is the villain.”

Old Three, Zhang Shaoqing, with his bleached hair, was a rich second-generation who committed all sorts of evils. He had repeatedly clashed with the male lead, showing no bottom line in morals or laws—he was a villain that even dogs would turn away from.

Ning Chu involuntarily glanced back at Zhang Shaoqing’s bunk.

Though the book’s Zhang Shaoqing was a nefarious character, the real-life yellow-haired roommate didn’t display any signs of villainy. In fact, he was quite generous to his roommates because he had money.

The protagonist and the villain didn’t quite line up with the descriptions in the book. Perhaps it was because the plot hadn’t started yet?

But the issue was that a Small Royal Text had no real concept of timelines; each chapter was standalone, and the plot revolved around the male lead battling various girls.

Who knows when the novel’s plot will actually begin…

There were four people in the dorm: Wen Yang was the male lead, Wang Jie was the tool character, and the yellow-haired one was the villain.

“So, who the heck am I?”

Ning Chu furrowed his brows, quickly scrolling down the document, trying to find his part in the story.

Now, as a member of the male lead Wen Yang’s dorm, he vaguely remembered writing something related to it.

“Where is it…”

“Ning Chu, go to bed earlier,” a teasing voice floated from behind. “Don’t look at stuff like this; it’s bad for your health.”

Ning Chu jumped in shock, hurriedly closing the computer screen and turning his head to find Wen Yang standing behind him, who knew for how long.

His face flushed a deep pink as Wen Yang had seen the Small Royal Text he had written—a mix of embarrassment and awkwardness washed over him.

“You walk like a cat,” he retorted, pretending to be nonchalant. “I’m going to sleep now.”

Fortunately, it seemed Wen Yang hadn’t realized that the main character of the novel was himself.

“Take care of your health.”

“……”

Ning Chu ignored Wen Yang and lowered his head to fiddle with his phone.

In this world of Small Royal Texts, handsome men and beautiful women were everywhere, and Ning Chu was no exception.

He could pretty much be called a pretty boy, looking rather youthful, even though he was already a freshman. Despite being of college age, he still looked like a little boy, standing at only 1.6 meters tall—tiny enough to resemble a little girl.

He could only hope to grow taller over the next couple of years because being a 1.6-meter adult male was honestly kind of ridiculous.

Fortunately, Ning Chu’s sexual orientation wasn’t an issue—if the story had any plot about men on top of men, he would really be in danger with his looks in this world.

Danger?

Suddenly, Ning Chu’s expression froze.

He frantically opened his computer again, anxiously scrolling through the document until he found a chapter in the middle of the novel.

The gist of the chapter was that Wen Yang returned to find the dorm empty and went to the balcony bathroom, only to open the door and see a woman showering inside, leading to a fierce battle naturally commencing.

He had never considered that he might be a “battle companion” type of side character.

This woman… wouldn’t be me, would it?

Ning Chu’s right eyelid twitched a few times, his mouth twitching as he continued to scroll down: the woman lived in Wen Yang’s dorm, but their happy sex life was discovered, and Zhang Shaoqing took the initiative to greenlight the male lead… Wang Jie was the only one who had not discovered that there was a girl in the dorm.

“The plot of the novel isn’t rational; after all, a woman living in a male dorm pretending to be a guy, Wang Jie wouldn’t possibly not know,” Ning Chu mumbled. “I didn’t care about such details when writing it!”

Now that this glitch was effectively patched up…

What if that woman had originally lived in the dorm long-term as a male?

It wouldn’t really be me, would it?

Ning Chu felt a chill run down his spine, hurriedly getting up to run to the bathroom, meticulously checking his gender.

No problem! Male!

“There’s no way something so cliché could happen. It’s simply that I forgot to write about Wen Yang’s fourth roommate. Now that I’ve transmigrated, I’m just filling that vacancy.”

The tension in his mind eased, and Ning Chu felt somewhat calm.

After brushing his teeth and washing his face, he kicked off his shoes and collapsed into bed, exhausted.

Why the hell did I write this kind of stuff? Ugh!

Back then, he really was just bored with nothing to do!

Now he even felt like a pervert for having written such nonsensical content. But honestly, he didn’t intend to post it online; it was just for his own amusement. Who knew I would end up in this book?!

“Don’t think too much; just go with the flow…”

Ning Chu pulled the blanket over his head, hiding his entire face under the covers.

Since there was no plot for him in the novel, even if he wound up in such a strange world, he could still lead a good life all on his own.

Just wait until he graduates to find a beautiful wife~ The average quality of girls in this world was way higher than back in his past life.

There were even half-beast girls he could choose from.

Marry a cat girl…

While daydreaming about marrying a cat girl and leading a happy sex life, Ning Chu’s imagination suddenly shattered.

He bolted his eyes open and murmured doubtfully to himself, “In a Small Royal Text world… my wife might cheat on me, right?”
