Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 286

Chapter 286: Good News

“How is it!”

As the first class of the afternoon ended, Ning Chu found her mother and Wen Yang standing in the hallway.

She jogged out of the classroom, excitedly rushing to her mother, “Did it go smoothly?”

“The application has been submitted, now we just wait,” her mother said with a smile. “The counselor said they’ll arrange a girls’ dormitory for you next semester, so you won’t have to rent a place outside anymore.”

“This…”

It was clearly good news, but Ning Chu’s smile subtly stiffened.

Previously, she didn’t want to live off-campus because it was expensive and inconvenient for classes, but now, having tasted the freedom and indulgence of living outside, she felt that staying off-campus could be great too.

Feeling a little guilty, she asked her mother, “Mom, what if I want to keep living off-campus?”

“Huh?”

Her mind raced quickly, and Ning Chu defended herself, “I’m not used to hanging out with girls! There might be conflicts!”

Indeed, it had only been a few months since her son became a daughter, and living in a girls’ dormitory could easily cause friction due to different worldviews and habits… but she was adapting slowly to this while being eager to find a boyfriend!

“You still need to interact more with other girls,” her mother said, shaking her head helplessly. “You can’t just hang out with those boys forever, right?”

Whether there can be pure friendships between men and women is debatable, especially when it comes to men and succubi.

“I’ve been talking less with my former roommates…”

As Ning Chu spoke, she suddenly felt a pair of hands wrap around her waist. Yan Xinya poked her head out from behind her.

“Mom, this is my friend, Yan Xinya.”

“Hello, Auntie~ Ning Chu, want to go to the bathroom together?”

“Uh…”

Just a moment ago, she said she wasn’t used to hanging out with girls.

“What’s your mom doing here?” Wolf Girl whispered in her ear, “Your mom is so pretty~ She looks like she’s only in her thirties! Is she a succubus too?”

“What do you think! You go to the bathroom by yourself; I have things to do.”

“Yip!”

Yan Xinya wiggled her big tail and dashed towards the bathroom at the end of the hallway.

“Isn’t this interaction going pretty well?” her mother chuckled, putting a hand over her mouth. “You just don’t want to be apart from your little boyfriend, do you?”

“…”

Ning Chu instinctively glanced at Wen Yang and noticed they both looked a bit awkward.

“I’m not paying for your love life!”

“He is!” She immediately pointed at Wen Yang.

“Don’t come crying to me about money later~” Her mother laughed as she linked arms with Ning Chu and pulled her aside.

After a few steps, Wen Yang scratched his head, realizing this was a private conversation and feeling a bit dejected as he sighed and turned back into the classroom.

Once Wen Yang had left, her mother finally stopped in her tracks and looked towards the classroom, asking, “He doesn’t have a lot of living expenses, does he?”

“Uh… pure living expenses, probably around three to four hundred?”

“Oh, look at you, I’m giving you living expenses to support a boy?” Her mother grabbed Ning Chu’s ear.

Though she wasn’t pulling hard, Ning Chu still tensed up and panicked, “No! He works part-time on weekends and writes online, he can earn quite a bit! It’s enough for his expenses!”

Although she was indeed using the family’s living expenses to support a guy…

But hey, her writing had become stable enough to earn over a thousand a month! What’s wrong with using her own money to support a guy!

Her mother sighed resignedly and said, “Don’t just focus on one guy; looks don’t matter much. He might leave you once he becomes successful, and you’ll come crying to me.”

Ning Chu felt like she was hearing her mother’s life story.

“Mom, back then, was that how you cried to Grandma?”

“Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! My ears are going to split!”

She jumped in pain, covering her ears, “I was wrong! I was wrong!”

“That heartless guy! Don’t bring him up!”

“Wen Yang is different from him…”

Her mother looked at her daughter being stubborn, seeing her own youthful reflection in her.

Her family was one of the wealthiest in the area, a big old family. Yet, she fell for a poor boy from the countryside, going against everyone’s wishes to be together… That boy, with her family’s help, managed to earn some money and start a small business.

Then he disappeared, never to be heard from again…

“Mom, what if he suddenly comes back?”

“He’s long gone,” her mother said tightly-lipped. “I should head back; otherwise, I’ll be late for picking up the kitty from school.”

“When are you going to tell me about your past?”

“Is this gossiping about me now?”

As her mother shot her a glare, Ning Chu immediately cowered, “Forget it… When are you going to introduce me to Uncle?”

For the rare moment, her mother’s face turned slightly red, showing an almost bashful demeanor.

She fussily glared at Ning Chu, “During the New Year!”

“I’m leaving.”

“Bye~”

I wonder what her mother’s boyfriend looks like~

Ning Chu felt a twinge of worry, wondering what that man’s personality might be like and whether he would be easy to get along with.

She rubbed her ears, which were still sore and red from the tug, gritting her teeth, “She really does have a heavy hand~ She looks so weak!”

“Hiss~ Why do my ears feel a bit sharper than before?”

Ning Chu suddenly noticed something unusual, hesitantly touching her ears.

“Did my mom stretch them out?”

The class bell rang, and she rushed into the classroom, too busy to think more about it.

“Did Auntie leave?”

As soon as she sat down, Wen Yang asked impatiently.

“Yeah, she’s in a hurry to pick up Hei Dou from school.”

“Good she’s gone…”

“Why are you so afraid of my mom?” Ning Chu muttered, turning to Lily who was looking curiously at her with that cool profile, “Lily, pull your hair back.”

Lily paused, confused, then lifted her long hair that covered her ears.

“You actually have pointed ears!”

Her ears were small, rosy, similar to those of an elf.

But they weren’t as exaggerated as elves; they had a slight roundness to them, making them even cuter.

Yan Xinya rested her chin on her hands, “Aren’t you the same?”

“I just noticed…”

Ning Chu mumbled, and with her body developing, some details had subtly changed without her even realizing it. As the person involved, she found it hard to notice these changes.

In fact, she knew less about her own body than Wen Yang knew about her; at least, he got to experience it closely every few days.

Meanwhile, when she showered, she always used a loofah; she took a bath daily, just a quick scrub would do.

“Wen Yang!”

“I thought you knew already.”

Wen Yang asked, puzzled, “Isn’t it pretty? What’s wrong with it?”

It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it…

Ning Chu instinctively touched the top of her head.

Thankfully, she still showed no signs of growing antlers!
