Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 301

Chapter 301: Midnight Snack

“I wonder how things are going with Shaoqing.”

After finishing her typing, Ning Chu opened the backend of the novel website to upload the freshly written chapter, but then she raised her eyebrows and asked, “Could you send a message to Shaoqing and ask?”

“If I ask, he won’t tell the truth for sure.”

Her expression froze for a moment, then she rested her chin in her hand, staring at the screen with big eyes.

This chapter didn’t have much to focus on, so what title should she pick?

After thinking for a moment, she just casually typed “Daily” as a title.

After all, no readers really cared what the title was.

Wen Yang got up from the sofa, walked over to Ning Chu, leaned on the table, and handed her his phone, “Uh, not looking too optimistic.”

Ning Chu glanced at Wen Yang’s chat with Zhang Shaoqing, muttering, “Looks like he’s being treated like air~ that’s pretty normal.”

If it were up to her, she would certainly hope for Zhang Shaoqing’s pursuit to be successful, but if it fails, she wouldn’t mind becoming the comedic relief.

“How pathetic! I told you he was just carrying bags, and he didn’t believe me.”

She could already imagine Zhang Shaoqing, all honest and awkward, trying to help carry things, only to find himself trailing behind two girls, unable to say a word to Qian Qian.

Although online he could talk to Qian Qian under the guise of asking for advice, in real life they were still complete strangers.

Ning Chu stretched, grabbed the pile of books on the corner of the table, “I’ll just review the material for next year’s exam to avoid forgetting it.”

She had been reviewing lately, and the advanced math exam this afternoon wasn’t too bad—she thought she could pass. The only thing worrying her was the English exam in the morning.

She could barely understand those words, and her final English essay had drained her entire vocabulary, barely scraping out two lines.

Just passing one makeup exam would be fine, but two would be unbearable.

“I’ll go take a shower first.” Wen Yang glanced at the time, “By ten you should be sleeping; you said you’d sleep early today so you won’t struggle to get up tomorrow.”

“Mm.”

For some reason, she was always full of energy at night, but mornings had her feeling drowsy.

Today during the English exam, she almost fell asleep while taking the test.

Ning Chu leaned back in her chair, stretching her long legs and crossing them on the table.

With the books and Wen Yang’s notes resting on her thighs, she leisurely flipped through them.

“I don’t know how many times I’ve looked at this…” She quickly skimmed through and sighed, “I’ve already gone through university once; now I have to do it all over again after time traveling.”

Sadly, her major was different, so she had to relearn professional courses.

She let out a soft sigh and, after less than ten minutes, impatiently laid down on the bed.

Covering herself entirely with the blanket, Ning Chu rolled over, curled up her legs, and messaged Zhang Shaoqing: “What’s going on? I heard you didn’t even talk to Teacher Qian Qian?”

“Bullshit! I’m eating a midnight snack with Qian Qian, no time to deal with you.”

Almost the next second, her phone buzzed with a reply.

Ning Chu nearly burst out laughing. If Zhang Shaoqing was really eating with Qian Qian, he wouldn’t be able to reply so quickly.

“Be a bit more proactive, don’t just stand there like an idiot.” She decided to impart some wisdom to Zhang Shaoqing, “From what I see about Qian Qian, she probably likes bold guys!”

“Get lost! You’re just making things worse!”

Ning Chu shot back a middle finger emoji, feeling that this guy totally deserves to be single!

“Aren’t you the one reading?”

Wen Yang, wearing only his shorts and shirtless, walked out of the bathroom, completely unfazed by the cold air.

“Tired!”

“Your shower water was way too hot.” He sat on the edge of the bed, complaining, “I almost got burned and lost some hair when I opened the tap.”

“Really? I thought it was just right.”

Ning Chu didn’t pay much mind to such trivial things and yawned, “Turn off the lights; I need to sleep early.”

“Sure.”

The room fell into darkness as she plugged in her phone to charge, shifting her position slightly to give Wen Yang space. Turning away from him, she closed her eyes, yawning repeatedly: “Don’t mess with me; I’m so tired right now.”

Wen Yang didn’t respond, simply lying down obediently and tugging at the blanket Ning Chu had pinned him under, “Give me some of that blanket.”

Since the weather had turned cold, he woke up frozen every morning, while Ning Chu was all wrapped up like a chicken roll.

Ning Chu relinquished half the blanket, leaning back on her pillow and drifting off to sleep. She could vaguely hear cars and voices outside… Her mind began to drift into a dazed haze, her breathing becoming heavy and steady, until suddenly she heard a soft snore that jolted her awake.

She had been a bit under the weather lately, and her stuffy nose had led to her snoring a bit too.

Shifting positions, she pulled Wen Yang’s arm over her head as a pillow, finding a comfortable pose to continue her snooze.

Then, in a half-asleep state, she was once again startled awake by the sound of her own snoring.

Ning Chu frustratingly realized that after being startled awake twice, her mind was completely clear, and opening her eyes she found herself wide awake.

She needed to sleep early and get up early; she still had to review for the exam in the morning to avoid feeling sleepy during it.

But the more anxious she got, the less she could fall asleep; with her restless feelings, she felt slightly hot and bothered.

“Wen Yang, are you asleep?”

After half an hour of fruitless attempts to sleep, Ning Chu asked softly, “Are you asleep~?”

“Mm…” Wen Yang replied groggily, turning over to hug the little succubus in his arms.

“Get up, it’s time for a midnight snack~”

“……”

“What? You fell asleep so early.”

Ning Chu, feeling hopeless, picked up her phone to read a novel, trying to rekindle her drowsiness.

But by midnight, she still felt no drowsiness at all; instead, she felt more awake and even thought of writing a couple of chapters.

“Oh no, there’s an exam tomorrow~”

“If I’m still tired and don’t do well on the exam, then I’ll have to retake it next semester!”

Does this mean a backup plan really has to be initiated?!

Ning Chu suddenly sat up, turning to look at Wen Yang lying beside her.

But Wen Yang had already fallen asleep! The backup plan was useless…

However, Wen Yang was awakened by her sudden movement. He yawned and asked, “Aren’t you going to sleep?”

“I can’t sleep!”

He rolled over to continue sleeping, but suddenly felt a soft weight crash onto him.

“Wen Yang~”

Wen Yang opened his eyes, and in the dark, he could only see the outline of Ning Chu’s face.

“Don’t mess around; I’m really tired.”

“Are you really tired?”

He could clearly detect the innocence in Ning Chu’s words; his body was forcibly awoken by the succubus’s presence.

Wen Yang couldn’t help but chuckle, “Nope, I was asleep.”

“Doesn’t matter, it’s better to sleep comfort after being tired.”

Ning Chu’s face flushed, hidden in the darkness, she found a boldness she had never shown before, brushing her hand along Wen Yang’s body, letting her little head move downwards.

“What are you doing?” Wen Yang asked, bewildered.

“Initiating the backup plan.”

“Mm?”

“Having a midnight snack.”

“Hiss~”
