Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 312

Chapter 312: You Are My Male Lead

Waking up, it was only seven-thirty.

Used to waking up early for class, even during the holidays, she couldn’t adjust her biological clock.

Yawning, she got out of bed carefully, tiptoeing so as not to wake up Hei Dou, who was sleeping on the other side.

This cat snores! That’s why she didn’t sleep well last night!

Despite being so small, her snores could rival Wang Jie.

Thankfully, she was used to the noise from the dormitory, or last night would’ve been a sleepless night.

Stepping out of her room, Ning Chu instinctively glanced towards the living room, only to find Wen Yang sitting on the couch, expressionless as he stared at the morning light outside.

Meanwhile, her brother was still fast asleep on the floor, snoring like a thunderstorm.

Wen Yang was lost in thought, not hearing her open the door.

“Wen Yang~”

Ning Chu greeted softly, “Can’t sleep? Want to come to my room and sleep a bit more?”

Her voice brought Wen Yang back to reality: “No, I’m awake.”

“Then you should be used to waking up around seven like me.” She stretched, her tail perked up behind her.

Though her pajamas were quite loose, her figure was still evident, with the little bump in front, nurtured by Wen Yang, proudly noticeable.

But Wen Yang’s gaze stayed fixed on her face.

Ning Chu sensed Wen Yang’s mood.

Even though she thought her mindset hadn’t changed much after becoming a girl, she couldn’t deny that her feelings, like her body, had become more sensitive.

“What’s wrong?”

At a few meters’ distance, Ning Chu asked with concern, “Not used to being at my house? I can take you to the rental apartment in the morning.”

“My maternal grandfather has a few rental apartments in the city, and I can get you a discount~ But it’s a bit far, takes about half an hour by bus.”

“No.” Wen Yang shook his head.

“You look so withdrawn…”

Usually, Wen Yang wasn’t overly attentive, but he’d definitely greet Ning Chu with a gentle smile and a hint of possessiveness in his eyes.

But today, his gaze lacked emotion, clearly not in a good mood.

She frowned slightly and walked towards the bathroom: “I’m going to wash up and change. How about we go out and clear our minds together?”

“Mm, okay.”

After washing up and changing into her winter outfit, Ning Chu was ready to leave in about ten minutes.

She entered the living room, cautiously stepping over Ning Yuan’s sleeping body, tiptoeing to the door.

“Scarf.”

Wen Yang draped the scarf hanging nearby over her shoulders.

“Okay.” She opened the door, squatting down to put on her shoes while asking, “Feeling down? What’s wrong?”

“……”

“Come on, tell me?”

Wen Yang sighed helplessly: “It’s nothing, just a bit uncomfortable.”

“I already said you’re not used to it, yet you’re stubborn.”

Stepping outside, the cold morning air made Ning Chu shiver. She quickly wrapped the scarf around her neck, covering half her face.

She hit the elevator button and then looked up at Wen Yang: “It’s okay, I also feel uneasy visiting others’ homes sometimes.”

“That’s not it…”

Wen Yang paused, looking into her bright, glistening eyes, offering a bitter smile: “It’s just your home’s atmosphere… I envy it.”

“Ah? What’s so great about a noisy household?”

“I’ve never had parents or siblings… since I was a kid.”

“……”

Ning Chu paused, lowered her gaze, and linked her arm with Wen Yang’s: “Well… when I was little, I envied classmates who had their dads pick them up.”

“When I got bullied at school, others’ dads would show up to defend their kids, but my mom just told me not to cause trouble, that suffering is a blessing…”

She mumbled softly: “Thankfully, my brother protects me. Whenever I got bullied, he’d step in to fight for me, but he’s not much older. When others complained to adults, we were always the ones getting in trouble.”

She merely lacked a father and the protection of her brother and mother, but Wen Yang had nothing.

Wen Yang gently ruffled her hair: “You still have me now.”

“Mm… I guess you didn’t have a good upbringing either?”

They entered the elevator and arrived at the community’s ground floor.

The banyan trees by the roadside rustled with the gentle breeze, their dragon-like whiskers swayed softly in the morning sun as they strolled along the creek path outside the community.

Wen Yang, always reserved, broke the long silence and said simply: “It wasn’t too bad. My uncle’s family took care of me. I could always go there for meals, and my aunt occasionally brought me snacks…”

“But they have their own family. Just getting a meal is good enough.”

“I was pretty much the kid everyone picked on, just sitting in the corner quietly without saying a word…”

Ning Chu listened quietly. As she linked her arm with Wen Yang’s, her mind slowly painted a picture of a lonely child.

Wen Yang was inherently insecure.

Even if he didn’t show it much, she could clearly sense his insecurities about his family background, abilities, and emotions during their time together.

“You’re kinda handsome…,” Ning Chu asked softly, “You should’ve been popular in school, right?”

“After all, I was a wild child.”

“……” She was silent for a moment, correcting him: “You’re my male lead, my boyfriend.”

A warm smile appeared on Wen Yang’s face as he tightly held Ning Chu’s hand, explaining: “Back then in the countryside, no one cared. I was a mess. It wasn’t until I went to county school that things got a bit better.”

“Then in college, I finally blossomed, getting chased by girls every day~”

He nervously avoided Ning Chu’s jealous gaze: “I really don’t know what they saw in me…”

“Don’t think about it too much.” Ning Chu gently tugged at Wen Yang’s arm, “That’s all in the past.”

“Mm.”

“You didn’t have a family before, but now you have me, right?” she said softly, “And there’s Hei Dou—she used to call you ‘dad.'”

“And my mom is really nice. She just thinks you’re too poor… Once she accepts you, she’ll treat you like family~ Just like Hei Dou.”

“Whether I’m poor or not doesn’t matter. She’s just being overly concerned; how could I starve to death following you?”

“Of course not.”

“Well then~”

Wen Yang’s gaze towards Ning Chu softened even more, and recalling these past two months of cohabitation, they were the happiest days of his life.

It felt like having a family.

Sure, they might argue over trivial matters or bustle around, anxious about the future…

But he no longer felt the loneliness of being all by himself, as he had a girl willing to walk through life’s long journey with him.
