Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 33

Chapter 33: You Are the Protagonist!

This café off-campus has been around for several years and is renowned among students for its affordable prices and great taste.

“So you’re not poor? You can still afford coffee? How do you know the owner?”

“It was really hot on the first day of school; I was just chilling in there to enjoy the AC, and we struck up a conversation.”

“Oh~”

Ning Chu followed Wen Yang into the café, pushing the glass door open to be greeted by the rich aroma of roasted coffee beans.

His gaze immediately fell on the owner.

This owner was actually his senior, and she was nearing thirty. Unlike the naive college girls on campus, the mature café owner exuded an air of sophistication, her every smile and frown dripping with allure. To top it off, she wore a café maid’s short skirt and black stockings, with a chest that was impossible to ignore…

Ning Chu instantly went on high alert!

He admitted the owner was charming; that kind of mature charm was lethal to a small virgin!

He hoped the plot wouldn’t get too crazy and leave Wen Yang in a tight spot!

“Hey sis, I’m here! I brought my roommate along.”

He quickly glanced at Wen Yang, noticing a hint of blush creeping up on his friend’s face. The little virgin couldn’t even bear to look directly at the owner, his eyes darting around, unsure of where to land.

“You came all this way in such heavy rain.” Her voice was so gentle it could melt bones. The owner paused her busy work and warmly welcomed them, “You two sit down; I’ll wipe down the last two tables.”

“There wasn’t any army training this afternoon, so I had some free time…”

Wen Yang stiffly sat at the bar, stealing glances at Ning Chu, whispering, “Just call her ‘sister,’ definitely don’t call her ‘aunt.'”

“You think my EQ is that low?” Ning Chu shot him a glare.

The owner quickly finished cleaning, sauntering over with a smile, her gaze moving between the two before finally resting on Ning Chu’s face.

“What a cute little boy~” She leaned forward, propping her chest with her hands on the counter, “What would my little brother like to drink? Sister’s treating you.”

The even more noticeable cleavage made Wen Yang squirm uncomfortably, and even Ning Chu felt a bit shy, mumbling, “I, I’m fine with anything.”

“Then you can try my new product, plus a small cake.”

“Um…”

“And then you write me a 600-word review on the new product experience.”

Ning Chu froze for a moment. Just as he was about to protest, the owner lightly poked his cheek with her long finger, deliberately caressing his skin before she walked away.

“Just kidding~”

Wait a minute! This doesn’t seem right!

He was left dumbfounded, looking over at Wen Yang with wide eyes full of panic and confusion.

Wen Yang lowered his head, stifling laughter: “You’ve been flirted with.”

No! I know!

But why is it me?! You’re the protagonist!

Ning Chu considered that maybe the owner was just interested in Wen Yang and wanted him to try the café’s new offerings. Perhaps, like a side character in a plot, the owner was luring Wen Yang into her trap under the pretense of the tasting…

But he never considered that he might be the lamb!

As the owner turned to brew coffee and make small cakes, Wen Yang, with a grin plastered on his face, leaned in closer to Ning Chu.

In a devilish whisper that sent shivers down Ning Chu’s spine, he said, “The owner clearly likes you.”

“She seems pretty wealthy. If you work hard, maybe you won’t have to worry about food in your next life?”

Ning Chu panicked even more, his youthful face turning bright red.

Though he was indeed not suited for hard work, this was a small royal text! Can you really live off someone here? Who knows how twisted the games could get!

Just thinking about keywords like steel wool, master, and M made his lips pale.

“Here you go, this is a latte art coffee, pretty, huh? Sister specially learned for a month~” The owner placed several new items in front of Ning Chu, “And strawberry small cake~”

She leaned forward onto the counter again, unabashedly flaunting her assets: “Little brother, I also have takeout; you have to help support sister’s business more.”

“Ah? Sure!”

“This is your portion.” She placed another set of coffee and cake in front of Wen Yang, “You try too; they’re all new products that haven’t launched yet. If they don’t taste good, just say so.”

Wen Yang looked down at his coffee: “Why doesn’t my coffee have any latte art?”

“That’s just for my little brother~”

“Oh~” He nodded knowingly, his smile deepening.

He was genuinely happy for his roommate, relieved that Wen Yang’s future looked bright, and found Ning Chu’s flustered demeanor quite adorable, making him want to see the owner tease him more.

Meanwhile, Ning Chu was trembling, stuck between sitting and standing, unsure of where to put his hands and feet.

He finally experienced what it felt like to be pursued by a girl.

Anticipation mixed with panic, yet the girl’s sweet and gentle requests were hard to outright refuse.

“Try it.”

“Okay!” Ning Chu took a deep breath to calm himself, picked up the coffee, took a small sip, and frowned, earnestly suggesting, “Isn’t it a bit too sweet?”

Gotta finish this official business and run; tasting products is my mission for today! I can’t let the owner keep teasing me like this!

“The cake gets a bit rich after a couple bites; maybe there’s too much cream…”

Ning Chu slyly glanced at Wen Yang, who was shamelessly enjoying the scene.

“Mm, good point. These days, people are all about health; too sweet really isn’t good.” The owner tapped her chin in thought, “How about this, I’ll do more research.”

“Cool!”

“Let’s add each other on WeChat. Next time, sister will call you to come and try some more?”

Oh wow! She’s going straight for WeChat?! Can’t a girl be a little more reserved?!

“Sis, don’t you already have my WeChat?” Ning Chu didn’t have time to shake his head before Wen Yang chimed in, “Next time, just call me directly. If we’re both free, we’ll come.”

Wen Yang… you traitor! How could you backstab me? What benefits did the owner give you that you’d want to be her wingman?!

The owner nodded happily, “Alright.”

“Then we have to go; we’re in a hurry?”

“So soon? Why not wait until the rain eases up?”

Wen Yang shook his head in defeat: “We have something planned; it wouldn’t be good to be late.”

“Alright, be careful on your way. Come visit more~”

If it weren’t for the owner being present, Ning Chu would have already exploded in anger.

Who sends their roommate into the fire like that?!

Fuming, he followed Wen Yang out of the café, standing under the eaves, glaring with wide eyes at Wen Yang: “What do you mean?!”

“Why are you so mad?” Wen Yang was smug, grinning. “Aren’t you always finding excuses not to let me go on dates?”

“Even if they’re legitimate reasons, it’s not wrong to get a little revenge, right?”

“???”

So you weren’t planning on being the owner’s wingman but instead purposefully keeping her from getting my WeChat?!

Well done!
