Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 43

Chapter 43

“Woke up this early?”

As Wen Yang stretched and got out of bed, he immediately spotted a frail figure sitting in front of the computer.

Rubbing his sore shoulders, he stood up and glanced around but his gaze stopped at the next bed, which remained tidy and untouched.

“You didn’t sleep all night?”

“Why are you ignoring me?”

He mumbled as he walked over to the computer, bending down to see Ning Chu’s delicate, pale feet resting on the rattan chair, her body curled up, head drooping—fast asleep.

With those slightly reddened eyes, she must have stayed up late last night.

Wen Yang glanced at the computer screen, which was automatically playing a romance movie—so serious.

“Can’t believe you enjoy this stuff.”

He looked at the computer desk, noticing several small cards showing heart-fluttering pictures and text.

Whoosh! He casually gathered the cards, tossing them into the trash can, and knocked on his sore head before heading into the bathroom to freshen up.

Even though he fell asleep quickly after drinking, his sleep was restless; waking up, he felt a headache and body aches—and, heaven forbid, maybe even a sore bottom.

It was only six in the morning. After washing up, Wen Yang found himself with nothing to do. He turned on the TV and set the volume to the lowest, but his eyes kept darting to that petite figure.

He hesitated, unsure whether to carry Ning Chu back to bed.

But was it necessary? It felt a bit… well, too intimate.

What if someone misinterpreted it?

But they were both guys, so what’s there to misinterpret?

Ruffling his messy hair, Wen Yang recalled how Ning Chu had taken care of him recently. He stood up, gently nudging her shoulder, and whispered, “Wake up, let’s sleep in bed.”

“Wake up?”

No response.

Seeing this, Wen Yang had to take action. He placed one arm behind Ning Chu’s head and carefully maneuvered his other hand under her folded legs, hoping to move her to the bed without disturbing her.

He lifted her slightly and, unexpectedly, she was light as a feather.

“Definitely under a hundred.”

Although Ning Chu looked small, her body was soft and her skin was a delicate, cool texture, almost like flour.

Wen Yang glanced down quickly; even up close, he could barely see the fine hair on her arms. He moved swiftly but quietly, and in a few seconds, he laid her gently in bed and covered her with a blanket.

“Time to play on the computer!” Wen Yang turned around and sat down at the computer—no more games for now, but he could catch up on some anime or dramas. Anything was better than the morning news on TV.

Finding a show, he stole a quick glance behind him, and seeing Ning Chu still unmoving, he let out a sigh of relief.

After watching a few episodes, there was a gentle knock on the door, followed by Wang Jie’s voice: “Are you guys up yet?”

Wen Yang quickly jumped up to open the door, only to find Wang Jie holding two bags of breakfast.

“Got up too early and couldn’t find anything to do, so I went out to grab some food for you all.” Wang Jie handed him one of the bags, continuing, “Meat buns, soybean milk, and a youtiao. Share it with Ning Chu.”

“Thanks.”

“Has Ning Chu woken up?”

“Not yet, she probably stayed up too late last night. She might not get up until noon.”

“Shaoqing is the same; it’s the first time I’ve heard him snore.”

Wen Yang suddenly had a guess: “You think those two went off to play while we were drunk?”

“No way! I woke up last night from a particularly loud noise; when I woke up, Shaoqing was still playing his mobile game.”

“Who was it?”

A soft, lazy voice drifted in from the room, and Wen Yang turned to see Ning Chu crawling to the foot of the bed, her confused, watery eyes peeking out and her butt sticking up as she looked toward the door.

“Keeping it down…”

“They brought us food.” Wen Yang waved the plastic bag in his hand, “Meat buns, soybean milk, youtiao—want some?”

“I’m sleepy…”

Her voice was soft like a girl’s, which made Wen Yang feel a bit odd.

Just as he was about to say something, Ning Chu suddenly emitted a sharp gasp.

“How did I fall asleep!”

“Yes, yes, yes! That’s the sound that woke me up last night!” Wang Jie nodded vigorously, peering into the room.

Ning Chu was sitting at the foot of the bed, scaring herself awake. She first looked at her clothes, then glanced around.

Thank goodness, thank goodness~

She breathed a sigh of relief, looking at her two roommates who had just walked in, her nose catching the aroma of the meat buns, which made her stomach protest loudly.

“Let’s eat! After we’ve eaten, then we can sleep.” Wen Yang placed the breakfast on the table, genuinely confused, “What time did you sleep last night? Did my snoring bother you?”

“Not really.”

Ning Chu rubbed her swollen eyes and yawned, slipping on her shoes and getting out of bed. “I’ll wash my face first… Wait! How did I end up in bed?!”

“You were already sleeping when I woke up.”

Of course, Wen Yang couldn’t mention that he moved her just to play on the computer.

He had doubts about whether Ning Chu had a bit of a clingy side since she always stuck to him like glue, not bringing up that he was worried she’d catch a cold or something.

“Really?”

Her memories before sleep were already fuzzy. Ning Chu thought for a moment; unable to recall anything, she could only accept Wen Yang’s explanation and walked anxiously to the bathroom.

“I’d like to play on the computer in the dorm.” Wang Jie sipped his soybean milk, munching on his breakfast while mumbling, “The bar isn’t that interesting; why did Shaoqing drag us here? Playing a couple of games would be better.”

“What if we lose points?”

“Well, the bar is a bit more interesting then.”

In just a couple of minutes, Ning Chu jogged back from the bathroom, running to the table and reaching for a meat bun, her big eyes looking at the two guys on the chairs, suddenly feeling inspired.

“How about we take the bus back first?”

Last night, Zhang Shaoqing mentioned that he would take the roommates for a massage today… this could be a disaster! Who knows if they were serving meat or vegetables.

“That might not be good?”

“He has a car anyway, and we have no idea what time he’ll wake up. We can just send him a text about the situation.” Ning Chu tried to persuade Wang Jie to side with him, “Otherwise, the three of us will have nothing to do early in the morning. Isn’t it better to go back to the dorm and play on the computer than sitting here?”

Wang Jie scratched his head in confusion and looked at Wen Yang.

Wen Yang wasn’t too keen on this “betrayal” either, frowning, “If you want to play games, we could also find an internet café nearby?”

An internet café…

The key point was to avoid letting Zhang Shaoqing lead them astray!

Seeing both of them hesitating, Ning Chu decided to take decisive action. He grabbed Wen Yang’s wrist and Wang Jie’s sleeve, pulling them toward the door, “Let’s go back! If Shaoqing gets angry, I’ll take responsibility, okay?”

He rarely showed such firmness: “I want to catch up on some sleep; I can’t sleep well here at all!”

“That’s not—”

“Don’t ‘that’s not’ me!”
