Chapter 12
The forest in the dark was quiet and dangerous. There was a bonfire to keep the beasts away.
About several hundred people were stationed here. There were strong warriors armed with weapons guarding them. Those creatures in the dark did not dare to act rashly.
“How many days will it take to reach the Black Forest?” The man who spoke was tall. His brooding eyes reflected the flames. There was no emotion in them.
A tiny man next to him thought for a moment and answered, “About in six days.”
“That’s too slow. We need to pick up the pace tomorrow.” The tall man with tight muscle expressed his dissatisfaction.
The skinny man did not agree. “Hei Lie, we still carry a group of ordinary people and wounded people. They will not be able to bear it if we move too fast.”
Hei Lie got silent but was still very anxious and fretful.
“I know that you are worried about Jing and others.” The skinny man patted Hei Lie’s shoulder.
“But you have to be prepared. When he left the tribe, he already lost his eyes and his right hand. It is very likely…”
“He must be alive!” Hei Lie shot him a grim look.
The skinny man sighed deeply. “We all hope so.”
Hei Lie pressed his lips. He knew very well that Jing was unlikely to be alive.
Jing lost one eye and his right hand. Moreover he hurriedly left the tribe with others. Although he was a third-level fighter, his chance of survival was still very slim.
Their journey toward Black Forest was very dangerous. They lack food, weapons, and fighters. Moreover they took a group of old, weak, sick, and disabled. When catching up with them, Hei Lie couldn’t imagine how many people they would have.
“Don’t be so pessimistic.” Tu came over and sat next to Hei Lie and Xi Hou.
“Chi and the others convoyed them for a long time. When they were separated, Jing was still in good shape. Jing was not easy to defeat. Moreover they were not as weak as the chiefs said when they left. ”
Hearing ‘this word’ of the chief, Xi Hou’s mouth twitched.
“They have too little food. Even if they travel as far as the Black Forest, they would probably be starving to death.”
Tu stared at him, “Can’t you think of the good end?”
“You can’t pin the blame on me. If not for the chief, such a thing would never happen!”
Xi Hou was indignant and bottled up his anger inside all this time. The more he said, the angrier he was.
“He (the chief of the Blackrock Tribe) said don’t raise the rubbish, but his son is the most good-for-nothing. Why don’t he expel his son?! Even if he is the chief himself, how many times had he not been hunting? Still, they enjoyed the best things in the tribe!”
They(Hei Lie, Xi Hou, Tu and etc.) exchanged salt through countless risks, but when they came back, they found the situation in the tribe was completely different.
When Hei Lie left, he was worried that the chief would cash the chance to pickle his people and sell those sick, old, weak, and ordinary people like meat/food/domestic animals/slaves.
He specially left some people to stop him if such a thing happened.
He didn’t expect that Jing, the leader of the people he left, would arrange a strange place to hunt after he departed soon. Worst of all, there was a fierce thorn dragon!
Thorn dragons had an aggressive and ferocious nature. Their saliva also contained highly toxic venom. The best way to act when meeting them is to avoid them.
But if you had to face them, you have to be prepared for a battle with your life on the line.
In the end, Jing led the people to successfully beat this dragon, but they also suffered heavy casualties, himself included.
After returning to the tribe, the shaman dug down Jing’s eye and cut down his right arm because they were all infected with venom. That said, Jing would die if he didn’t remove them.
Before that, Hei Lie heard that shaman had got the medicine from the Western Continent caravan that was able to treat the injury caused by the thorn dragon, but he was actually unwilling to give a third-level fighter.
The third-level fighters were rare in the Blackrock tribe; these precious medicines should be given to the Warriors.
But he didn’t expect that shaman didn’t want to, which led to Jing to lose one eye and one arm.
This was a huge loss for the entire tribe!
After Jing was crippled, naturally he couldn’t be serving as the temporary leader of the hunting team. Those people who supported him were also arranged to the best dangerous places to hunt.
In the end, no one dared to stop the chief and the shaman again. They could watch as their brothers and parents were driven away.
Because this group of fighters of Chi and etc. were insisting to convoy those people who were driven away, they were also arranged to the dangerous place to hunt after returning. If it’s not because Hei Lie returned in time, they all probably had died.
Tu was also angered by these words and could not help but complain:
“I really don’t understand what they(Chief and Shaman) think. Our tribe is already very rich, and we can even exchange a lot of useless things with the Western Continent caravan that couldn’t be eaten and worn. Why do they always like to sell people as meat?! ”
