Chapter 12
Promise
The doctors who had gathered around for curiosity’s sake departed, leaving only Bo Yi and his team of specialists, along with Professor Wang and the other doctors.
“I will escort Old Master back to the ward first,” Yang Chen said to Fang Yuan. “I’ll be back shortly.”
Fang Yuan nodded, removing her mask to reveal a bright and lovely face. Her attractiveness wasn’t something she deliberately showcased; it simply radiated naturally.
“Who is the patient’s family?” Fang Yuan inquired, looking up. She had something to discuss with them.
The man at the forefront approached her.
Fang Yuan felt her vision darken as she raised her gaze, meeting the man’s deep, black eyes. Towering at almost 1.9 meters, he made her 1.7-meter frame appear petite. His facial features were sharp and well-defined, while his eyes followed the golden ratio precisely.
“Mr. Bo, here’s the situation. Old Master Bo is in critical condition, and I assure you, if this girl can save him, compensation won’t be an issue…” Professor Wang, who stood by her side, began to discuss compensation on Fang Yuan’s behalf.
Bo Yi studied the girl before him and then exchanged a glance with Mu Qing.
Mu Qing withdrew a checkbook, tore off a blank check, and handed it to Fang Yuan. “Thank you for saving us, Miss Miracle Doctor! This is a small gift from my Master Bo. You can fill in any amount you desire.”
Fang Yuan looked up, her surprise evident. Who was this Master Bo, and why was he so generous?
Those around her looked on with envy or experienced eyes. Receiving a blank check not only meant financial freedom but, more importantly, it opened doors for her to further develop herself by boarding the Bo family’s ship. A bright future awaited her.
“Very well,” Fang Yuan smiled, pocketing the check without hesitation. She didn’t refuse, accepting it straightforwardly.
“Old Master will be able to come off the ventilator tomorrow,” Fang Yuan began to speak, but her words were interrupted by a sneer from nearby. It was Su Jing.
Fang Yuan noticed the smirk on Su Jing’s face. Raising an eyebrow, she spoke casually, “It’s time to fulfill your promise, Deputy Director Su.”
So consumed by jealousy, Su Jing had momentarily forgotten about their bet.
With Master Bo present, Su Jing didn’t want to make herself look bad. Absolutely not!
She shamelessly retorted, “What promise? When did I say that?”
“Deputy Director Su, how can you deny it…” The nurse beside her couldn’t help but interject. “You said that if this lady could save the old man, you would kneel down and acknowledge her as your ancestor. You even said you’d relinquish your position as deputy director…”
“Did I really say that? Is there any evidence?” Su Jing refused to admit her previous words.
Another doctor couldn’t tolerate it any longer. “You did say it. Everyone here heard you. Even if you don’t want to kneel down, at least apologize to them.”
After all, her earlier statement had been quite appalling.
“Why should I apologize?” Su Jing remained utterly shameless. She was convinced that a mere girl couldn’t do anything to her.
Just as everyone felt exasperated by her audacity, Fang Yuan swiftly approached her and delivered a swift kick to her knees.
Su Jing fell to the ground, her knees in excruciating pain.
No one saw exactly how Fang Yuan executed the kick. They merely heard the sound of knees hitting the floor—a sound that resonated with agony.
“You… you…” Su Jing trembled with anger, her lips quivering as she struggled to exert any strength in her knees.
“As a doctor, it is your duty to save lives,” Fang Yuan’s eyes bore a significant meaning, her voice icy cold. “The scalpel in your hand is meant to heal, not harm.”
“You!” Su Jing seethed with fury. “Don’t you dare slander me in front of Master Bo. I’ve done nothing wrong!”
Fang Yuan’s voice remained cold as she replied, “We all know their intentions.”
Just then, the dean hurriedly approached. “Mr. Bo, is Old Master doing well? I apologize, I just returned from an academic exchange. What’s happening here? Su, why are you kneeling on the ground?”
Witnessing the dean’s arrival, Su Jing burst into tears. She held high aspirations for his approval. He had spoken highly of her in front of many doctors, even commending her as a role model. She was about to voice her complaints when she heard the dean’s astonished voice.
“Yuan, what are you doing here? And why are you dressed in sterile attire? You’re the high school student who performed the surgery on Old Master Bo? I heard about it on my way back. It seems Old Master Bo is alright, isn’t he?”
The revelation left everyone stunned. Not only did Dean Zheng know this girl, but he also endorsed her medical skills?
As silence hung in the air, Dean Zheng grew even more perplexed. “What’s going on? Yuan, explain it to me.”
