After Dinner

"That's enough for today, Kate," Ruth said firmly. "Tanya, take both your sisters and go to your room. It's time for sleep."

The three sisters exchanged brief glances, but Ruth's tone left no room for argument. They reluctantly made their way to their shared quarters.

As soon as the door closed behind Ruth, Kate turned, her voice eager and defiant. "I don't care what he says about traditions—I'm going in there tonight. We need to see his face."

Irina, who had been sitting on her bed with arms crossed, raised an eyebrow. "You really think he'll let us sneak in like that? What if we get caught again?"

"And what if what he said is true?" Tanya added thoughtfully.

Kate dismissed her concerns with a wave of her hand. "Oh, please. He's just a man hiding behind a cloak. What could be so dangerous? We just need to be quick—get in and out."

Irina's lips curled into a mischievous smile. "And who's going to be the one to go first, Kate? Are you volunteering?"

Kate smirked, standing taller. "I'll go first if it gets us what we want. But we're all going in there together. We've got this."

Irina nodded with a sly grin. "Exactly. He's been teasing us all night. And that ridiculous talk about only his fiancée seeing his face? Please. We can't let him keep playing games like that."

Tanya leaned back, her expression turning more serious, her voice quieter. "I agree. But we need to be quiet. We can't risk getting caught. If anyone finds out, we're in serious trouble."

Irina's tone softened as she agreed. "Let's wait until everyone's asleep. Then we'll go in, do what we need to, and leave."

Kate's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Then, we'll sneak in, see what's under that cloak, and get out before anyone notices."

Irina stretched lazily and yawned. "We've got some time. Might as well rest up. We'll need all the energy we can get tonight."

Tanya smiled faintly, her tiredness apparent but overridden by her determination. "Agreed. Let's rest, then we'll make this happen."

The three sisters lay back, the excitement still lingering, but for the moment, they allowed themselves to drift into a light sleep, preparing for the clandestine adventure ahead.

Midnight: The Plan in Action

A soft moonlight streamed into the room, casting a faint glow on the sisters as they lay in their beds. Irina, the youngest, was fast asleep, her long blonde hair spread out across the pillow like a cascade of silk, her face serene in sleep—almost ethereal. She looked like a sleeping beauty, her delicate features softened by the quiet of the night.

"Irina... Irina, wake up," Kate whispered, nudging her awake.

Irina's eyes fluttered open lazily, her soft lashes brushing her cheeks. She blinked, disoriented for a moment before realizing the time. "What time is it? Did I fall asleep?"

"Not just you," Tanya answered with a rueful smile. "Kate and I both nodded off too."

Kate sat up with a guilty but playful smirk. "I didn't fall asleep. I was the one who woke you up."

Tanya chuckled. "Right, sure. Let's discuss that later. Falling asleep was probably a good thing. We can be sure he's asleep now too. It's almost midnight."

With that, the three sisters exchanged a knowing look. It was time. The house was silent, save for the occasional creak of the old walls and the soft rustling of leaves outside.

Kate's voice lowered to a whisper, excitement evident. "This is our chance. He's probably asleep by now. We'll finally see what's under that cloak."

Tanya's brow furrowed slightly, doubt creeping in. "This still feels wrong. What if he wakes up?"

Irina, always the most daring when the moment called for it, flashed a grin. "If he wakes up, we'll just tell him we were checking if he was comfortable. He seemed to believe it the first time."

Kate rolled her eyes. "He didn't believe us. He was just being polite. Now, come on!"

Tanya hesitated, but the allure of the mystery before them was too strong. Reluctantly, she followed her sisters as they crept down the dark hallway, hearts pounding in anticipation. The barrier Dave had set earlier was gone, the hum of magic absent. Clearly, exhaustion had overtaken him, and he hadn't bothered to renew it.

Kate reached the door first and gently pushed it open. The hinges creaked faintly, making her wince as they stepped inside, the air thick with anticipation.

The Reveal

Dave lay on the bed, cloaked as usual, the deep shadows hiding most of his form. His hood had slipped back, exposing the sharp line of his jaw and a subtle glimpse of his cheekbone. His breathing was slow, steady—he seemed deeply asleep.

"He's asleep," Irina whispered, her voice hushed with excitement.

Kate grinned. "Perfect. Let's see what's under that cloak."

Tanya, still near the door, grabbed Kate's arm, concern written across her face. "Wait! We can't just—what if there's a reason he keeps it on? What if it's dangerous?"

Kate shook her off, her voice firm and confident. "Oh, please. He's not some cursed prince from a fairy tale. He's just... mysterious. And besides, we've come this far. Don't chicken out now."

Without waiting for further hesitation, Kate stepped closer to the bed, her fingers brushing the clasp of Dave's cloak. Irina, too, stepped forward, her eyes wide with a mix of wonder and curiosity. Tanya lingered, her thoughts torn between caution and the growing excitement.

Kate carefully undid the clasp, the fabric falling away slowly. The sisters froze as Dave's face was revealed fully for the first time.

His features were nothing like they had imagined. He was impossibly handsome—his face a striking blend of sharp angles and subtle softness. His skin almost glowed in the moonlight, giving him an otherworldly appearance. His dark lashes lay against high cheekbones, his mouth set in a neutral expression, yet something about him radiated an ethereal charm, like he belonged to a different realm altogether.

"Oh... my…" Kate gasped, her hand flying to her mouth.

Irina, usually the boldest, found herself speechless, her cheeks flushed. "He's... he's…"

Tanya, standing closest to the door, whispered breathlessly, "Beautiful."

The word hung in the air, a heavy silence following as the sisters tried to process the breathtaking sight before them.

Suddenly, Dave shifted slightly, a soft groan escaping him. The sisters froze, their hearts racing as his eyes fluttered open.
