Versatile Mage: White Tiger Pendant

Chapter 4

Chapter 4: White Tiger of the West, Gold Type?

Lu Jun realized that being born with dual lines and having dual systems at each level were two distinct concepts.

Being born with dual lines meant awakening two magic systems at the initial level but returning to the norm at the intermediate level, with one system at the first level—essentially one extra system compared to others.

On the other hand, having dual systems at each level meant that, at the peak of cultivation, five additional systems would be available. This wasn't a simple addition; it was a multiplication.

Lu Jun's guess turned out to be correct. The fusion of parallel time and space entities wasn't just about time travel; it was about combining two origins, effectively doubling one's potential. Mo Fan possessed such an ability, and now, so did Lu Jun.

While on the playground, he couldn't contain his excitement. The magical world was perilous, and there was no such thing as too much power. For instance, Mo Fan, who wielded all forbidden spells in the future, was considered the strongest human, yet against other monstrous foes, he only ranked in the top twenty.

Demons from the Far South, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Kunlun Demon, the Ancient Capital Demon, the North Asian Snow Demon, the Egyptian Demon, the Sahara Demon, the Amazon Demon—all were so formidable that even the protagonist, Mo Fan, couldn't handle them.

But before Lu Jun could revel in his newfound power, the [White Tiger Pendant] hanging around his neck emitted a brilliant platinum light. An intense force overcame the energy transmitted by the Awakening Stone, replacing it and entering his mind along his arm.

Buzz!

A sharp white-gold light flashed through the spiritual void, resembling a supreme flying sword that cleaved through the world, revealing a radiant white-gold stardust from thin air.

Caught off guard by this sudden development, Lu Jun was dumbfounded. His knowledge couldn't immediately determine the nature of this unexpected platinum stardust. While it resembled a summoning-type of dimensional magic due to its white color, its luster was brighter.

Soon, he received an explanation. A series of messages came from the White Tiger Pendant around his neck. This system was a new magic system that hadn't existed in the original timeline—a [Gold System]. Gold, representing metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, should be classified within the general category of elemental magic.

"That's right, the White Tiger of the Western Sky corresponds to the metallic element, and the planet's composition is primarily metallic. The original timeline featured many magical metals, even thunder systems, but there was no [Gold System]. It's indeed peculiar."

Lu Jun struggled to regain his composure as he observed this unexpected system.

Outside, his entire class could see that he was surrounded by a misty water element, but the metallic element remained concealed due to restraint.

Seeing this, Lu Jun glanced around and breathed a sigh of relief.

Indeed, the most frustrating aspect of the magical world was the infighting among humans. Talented individuals were either targeted by dark forces like the [Black Vatican] and aristocratic families or were considered heretics by totalitarian regimes and magical associations, often dealt with directly. Lu Jun's unique gold element only exacerbated his predicament.

Being born with dual elements or having the metallic element was like stepping into a minefield.

Both light and dark magic factions would try to exploit such genius individuals. They were simply driving gifted mages to their deaths. No wonder he couldn't stop the demon.

Seeing Lu Jun's changing expression, Xue Musheng tried to console him, "The water system isn't bad. It has the basic magic [Water Defense], and its defensive capabilities are commendable." As he spoke, he had a premonition that he was setting himself up for embarrassment.

As expected, Lu Jun smiled and replied, "The water system is indeed good. Coastal areas are rife with sea monsters, and it's a popular element in places like the magic capital and Hangzhou." He felt a hint of happiness, knowing the future trend—water and ice systems were the way to go.

In another ten years, as Antarctic glaciers melted, global sea levels would rise, coastal regions would be submerged, and hordes of oceanic monsters would invade. Mo Fan might delay, but he couldn't handle the sea. When he awakened the water system, gold would become plentiful along the coast, with abundant water system resources emerging, ensuring a higher chance of survival.

However, for now, at the initial level, water magic wasn't particularly powerful. To gain a half-control, half-destructive skill, he'd have to reach the intermediate level.

Of the seven elements, only the thunder and fire elements offered destruction skills from basic to super levels. Destruction was the most straightforward manifestation of extraordinary power, which explained their popularity.

It was akin to the "Carry" role in gaming, where everyone fought for the position. This was no different in reality.

Lu Jun chuckled, "When I reach the late stage, Leihuo will be calling me 'Daddy'."

Lu Jun encouraged himself, hoping that the gold element, which had never appeared before, would bring him a pleasant surprise.

Soon, the entire class had awakened, and it turned out that Zhang Xiaohou still had the wind element, a magic system known for its agility.

The last to awaken was Mo Fan. Lu Jun paid special attention to him. True to his expectations, purple lightning and fiery red flames manifested simultaneously. He was born with dual elements—thunder and fire.

However, the attention of the class shifted when Xu Zhaoting from the next class awakened with lightning brilliance. The students rushed to witness the spectacle, momentarily forgetting about Mo Fan.

"The thunder system! Only one in a thousand has a chance to awaken it. They lead in the elemental systems. So envious!"

"Man, why did I get the water system? Why didn't I get thunder? Who's responsible for this? Don't stop me; I'm going to the rooftop."

"But the rooftop is already covered with the corpses of light mages."

"..."

Lu Jun shook his head, realizing that his current actions wouldn't lead to a significant butterfly effect. In the end, everyone had equal chances to face disasters, regardless of their knowledge of the future.

Mo Fan looked around, noticing that no one had paid him any attention. At first, he felt slight disappointment at the missed opportunity to show off. However, upon further consideration, he decided that it might be better not to reveal his natural dual elements.

As he looked around, he suddenly locked eyes with Lu Jun, whose expression had frozen. When the homeroom teacher reacted, he congratulated Mo Fan, saying, "Fire, second only to lightning. In the entire school, there are probably only 30 or 40 students who have awakened the fire element."

Mu Bai and Zhao Kunsan wore grim expressions, while Zhang Xiaohou was overjoyed and couldn't resist taunting them.

But Mo Fan didn't share in their excitement. After descending the stage, he approached Lu Jun, hooked his shoulder with one hand, and led him to a corner.

"Lu, you didn't see anything, right?"

Lu Jun couldn't help but chuckle at Mo Fan's hushed whisper near his ear. He glanced at the small black loach pendant hanging from Mo Fan's neck, raised an eyebrow, and then responded sternly, "Call me 'brother'."

"Brother!"

Mo Fan readily complied.

"Call me 'Daddy'!"

To his surprise, Mo Fan didn't hesitate and blurted out the word. He was startled and asked, "Hey, do you really want to call me that?"

Lu Jun underestimated Mo Fan's shamelessness.

"Hehe," Mo Fan chuckled, "Brother, please don't tell anyone."

"I'm not interested in gossip."

Lu Jun shrugged off Mo Fan's hand from his shoulder and responded calmly, "As long as you don't expose yourself, I won't say a word."

"Furthermore, what you have is a natural talent."

Mo Fan looked puzzled. "A natural talent?"

"That's right," Lu Jun explained. "In the world, there are always people with talents that set them apart from the ordinary. The same goes for magic. There are many types of natural talents, and you have one of them. You know Mu Ningxue from Bo City? She has a natural talent, and she was admitted to the Imperial University in advance."

Mo Fan absorbed this information and sighed. The innocent girl he once knew had grown incredibly powerful. He couldn't help but admit that he couldn't compete with her.

For now, he chose to believe Lu Jun's words. There was little else he could do, and he felt that this person had a wealth of knowledge. Knowledge was a form of strength, and it was worth making friends with him.

After the awakening, each class resumed teaching.

Lu Jun had no intention of exposing Mo Fan. It wouldn't benefit him and would only alienate others. Moreover, he wanted Mo Fan to grow safely and face the impending disasters with honesty. Even a dozen people like Mo Fan wouldn't be enough to meet the challenges ahead.

A little later, Lu Jun began practicing magic for the first time under his class teacher's guidance.
