Waiting For Your Reincarnation

Chapter 39

Ryu Won pressed his right hand to the back of Yeon-young’s head.

As the rich scent of the forest filled her nostrils, she relaxed.

He could hear Zhaolin coughing but he ignored it. Ryu Won held her in his arms, breathing heavily, then slowly released her.

“How did you find us?” “There’s no way I couldn’t find you.”

He patted Yeon-young’s back with a gentle touch.

Feeling Ryu Won’s loving touch, Yeon-young pushed him back slightly and asked.

“But why did you come in?” “What?” “What if the person who is supposed to get us out comes in here with you?” “Didn’t you want to see me?” “No, that’s not the point…” “You wouldn’t say that if you knew how much I searched the woods like a madman.”

As he brushed his fringe out of his face, Yeon-young fell silent. She had increased his workload, even if she didn’t want to.

It was amazing to think that he had searched this huge forest alone, without any communication, to find her.

Ryu Won shoved his hands into his uniform coat and scanned the auras around him, his eyes a little fierce.

Zhaolin leaned closer.

“It looks like the rumors Veronica told you are true. There is some sort of pattern here, and Slys is indeed missing.” “I’ll have to investigate.” “What was the entrance like when you came in?” “It was filled with snarling energy.” “Did any other support come out?” “No.” “Then how did you get in with all that smoke?” “I didn’t want it to get in my way, so I cleaned it up.”

Ryu Won said as easily as he picked up a snack that fell on the floor.

Yeon-young looked at Zhaolin with an incredulous expression; she too was filled with energy.

To use the power of the wind to extinguish so much Snarl energy.

To think that the two of them had gone to all this trouble for something that could have been solved with a wave of Ryu Won’s hand.

There was no telling how far his abilities could go.

“But how do we get out of here?” “Teleport.” “We’re out of comms.” “It should work now, it’s just blocked by Snarl’s energy.”

As he spoke, she touched her wristband and the holographic screen returned to normal. They could finally escape from this abyss.

Ryu Won touched the ring to open the teleport, just as he was about to take Yeon-young’s hand and climb aboard.

 “What’s wrong with your hand?”

His grip on Yeon-young’s wrist tightened. She furrowed her brow in pain. Ryu Won stared at her hand, which had become transparent, with ice-cold eyes.

Yeon-young wiggled her hands, trying to get away from him. Of course it wouldn’t work.

It was an action.

“I hurt myself by mistake. “It’s not a mistake. You damaged your soul.” “I did that. I set the fire to make her let go of my hand…ugh.”

The air was bitter, like wind on a snowy mountain. It stung her skin as if she’d been pricked by thorns, even though it only brushed against her uniform.

Zhaolin stayed on one knee, enduring the pain. Her hands began to turn white.

“Mr. Ryu Won. Calm down.” “Ms. Yeon-young, one wrong move and you could have been destroyed.” “Anyway, it’s okay now.” “But if it really goes wrong, it’s just a moment to make the wrong choice.” “…….” “I don’t want to lose what’s mine anymore.”

His eyes, once beautiful and bright, were suddenly lifeless, dark with pain, and he looked lost.

His grip on Yeon-young’s wrist became weaker and weaker.

At the same time, Zhaolin inhaled sharply. All the cold air that had surrounded the pit was gone.

 “Let’s get out of here.”

Ryu Won teleported through, leaving Zhaolin in the sinkhole.

* * *

The location was a village in the middle of a festival. Yeon-young gently tugged at his sleeve.

“What about you, Ms. Zhaolin?” “You should worry about yourself, not the arsonist.” “No, because she might be hurt…” “If she’s strong enough to set your hands on fire, she’s strong enough to teleport, right?”

He leaned his upper body against the wall of the alley and closed his eyes. Ryu Won looked tired.

Yeon-young knew that she had played a part in his fatigue, so she remained silent.

The village was abuzz with the festivities. Spirits mingled, danced and ate.

Just a moment ago, before the teleportation, she was trapped in a pit, contemplating death, and now she was at peace. It was a strange feeling.

“Let’s take care of the rest of the requests first.” “Yes.” “Have you finished all your requests, Yeon-young?” “No.” “Then where are the scrolls?”

Ryu Won’s question was met with a puzzled look from Yeon-Young. She remembered that she had left all the scrolls with Angelina and went to the forest.

They went straight to Angelina’s shop to retrieve the scrolls.

Angelina recognized Yeon-young from a distance and waved her arms wildly.

“Yeon-young!” “Ms. Angelina.” “Did everything go well?” “Yeah, sort of…”

The stall, which had been full until Yeon-young came to get her skewers, was now empty.

Angelina opened her eyes and studied Ryu Won’s face.

It was a pretty intense look, but Ryu Won kept his hands in his uniform coat and looked at Yeon Young.

“This is good, but what are you doing here, Ryu Won? You rarely come out on festival days.” “Perhaps today was quiet for a festival.”

As soon as he finished, a cheer erupted from the square. It was so loud it made her ears ring.

Angelina raised an eyebrow and stretched out her arms.

“It’s almost time for you to disappear, judging by the way you can’t see.”

Angelina scoffed at Ryu Won’s comment. Despite their bickering, they seemed to be close.

She went into the back of the store and came out with a basket containing the scroll Yeon-young had entrusted to her and some fruit skewers.

 “Sorry about the amplifier earlier.”

She pointed at the melon-colored glass bottle. Yeon-young shook her head horizontally to let her know that she was fine.

The taste was strange, but it was worth it to see the core of the power right away.

Upon hearing her apology, Ryu Won tilted his head slightly, the corners of his mouth twitching upward.

That expression reminded him of the sinkhole. Yeon-young tried to change the topic.

“This place is over, right?” “Yes, it’s over. We’re done. You still have some work to do, right?” “Yeah, I’m going to look at some more.” “Oh, why don’t you stop by Veronica’s shop later?” “Veronica’s?” “Because it’s the end of the road here, but the beginning there.”

Angelina was right. This was the busiest time for the bar. Ryu Won let out a deep sigh.

“You are so clueless.” “Han Ryu Won.”

She pushed a glass jar full of star candies into Ryu Won’s hand.

Ryu Won raised an eyebrow and stared at Angelina.

She smiled so brightly that both dimples popped out and explained.

“Silent candy. Make sure you eat one before you talk to me in the future.” “Shut up.”

Ryu Won furrowed his brow to show his displeasure, but Angelina slipped the vial into the pocket of his uniform.

He didn’t bother to argue and stalked out of the fruit shop.

Yeon-young bent down to give Angelina a quick bow and followed him.

The scrolls in the basket were similar to Angelina’s.

With their request taken care of, they went to Veronica’s shop to return the sealed scrolls.

“Mr. Ryu Won, what does this look like?” “Oh, I forgot.” * * *

Opening the door to the shop, Yeon-Young stiffened.

Angelina had been right about it being busy, and Veronica’s shop was packed with customers.

The ghosts kept coming, even though the shop was cramped with many existing customers.

But it wasn’t the large number of customers that scared Yeon-young.

The first thing she saw was Jung Jaeho sitting on a chair in the middle of the hall, tied up with ropes.

 “Rrrrrr.”

Marie stood before him, her teeth bared. Veronica greeted her with a tray resting on her shoulder, arm, and hand.

“Uh, hey, guys.” “What happened?” “Leave him alone. He got caught spiking our drinks with some weird stuff.”

She shuddered, realizing how far he’d gone to experiment in the village.

Jaeho’s voice called for his release, but Ryu Won ignored him.

It was easier to keep Jaeho tied up here than to let him wander the streets and cause trouble.

While returning the sealed scrolls, Yeon-young noticed a pink scroll left alone in the request basket.

She was drawn to the fabric, which glowed all by itself as if it were covered in diamonds.

She picked it up and unfolded it.

“There are no such spirits in our village.”

Those were Ryu Won’s first words when he saw the name on the scroll.
