"What?! What did you say?" Gu Yan slammed the table as he stood up, his expression very displeased and angry. "City Lord... infuriated Master Nie Li?! Why the hell did you let something like that happen, Director Yang?"

His outbreak was justified. Jason's talent was too frightening and his knowledge so deep but it was a boon for both the Alchemist Association and Glory City, not a bane. He was a godsend opportunity for them. With the danger of demon beasts' attack all over the years and their strengths insufficient, Jason would be able to change the situation. Not only that but there was a Supreme Master behind Jason who would have lent a hand in times of crisis for the sake of their relationship with his disciple.

"I apologize. But everything happened so fast that I didn't even have time to intervene." Yang Xin sighed, her voice carried sadness.

Gu Yan caressed his beard, his eyes serious. "I'm going to apologize to Master Nie Li and try to persuade him later. It's a good thing that I asked someone to follow him before and find the inn where he is staying."

"I'll come with you too." Yang Xin also followed behind anxiously.

The duo had just walked out and saw two more people outside.

"Brother Gu Yan, if you're going to meet young master Nie Li. Let me join too." Principal Ye Kai said. After getting the news, he immediately sat off, saving the scolding of Ye Zong for later.

Gu Yan nodded and led the way...

Not long after, they arrived at the inn, directly in front of his room without disturbing anyone.

"Since you're here then come inside." Before they could knock, Jason's calm voice drifted from inside.

Gu Yan opened the door and walked inside with everyone.

"Master Nie Li, this old man..." Gu Yan cupped his hand and wanted to speak.

But Jason waved his hand, cutting him off. "No need to apologize, President Gu Yan. You don't have anything to do with what happened so why feel bad? It's just a shame that this relationship is so short-lived, ending so soon."

"Little brother, please don't say that." Yang Xin shook her hand, saying quickly.

"Haha... Big sis Yang Xin, it's alright. It's my mistake for showing off too much. I should have been more careful and stayed hidden. Maybe then I would have been able to stay at the Glory City. It's my haste and greed which attracts the suspicion of the City Lord and everyone. Tomorrow, I'll return to my master. If fate allows, let's meet again in the future. I just hope that after I'm gone, my parents will not get implicated." Jason said, his voice carrying sadness and a sense of loneliness.

Gu Yan and Yang Xin's expression fell, turning heavy. They had realized that he had already made his decision.

Ye Kai stepped forward, speaking. "Young Master Nie Li, allow this old man to apologize in place of that brat Ye Zong. I hope young master Nie Li will not take the previous incident to heart and stays at the Glory City."

"For hundreds of years, the city has been facing the danger of extinction because of the demon beast's horde. The danger is very big with no solution in sight resulting in the decline of talent. After Ye Mo, no one was able to reach Legend rank. It caused Ye Zong to be cautious. But with your arrival, the situation can be changed. If you had stayed hidden, then it would be our loss. But you decided to show yourself, appearing like a savior. It's a mistake on our part to suspect you. I just hope you can forget about the incident and start anew, letting us make it up to you. I'll ask that brat Ye Zong to apologize to you personally."

"No need, Principal Ye Kai." Jason shook his head.

Hearing it caused his expression to turn heavy too thinking that they had seriously offended him with no room to negotiate.

"He is the City Lord, carrying the safety of everyone on his shoulder. How can he make a gamble with the lives of thousands of innocents so easily? If I were in his place, I might have made the same decision. I'm leaving because I didn't want to cause any trouble for others."

Ye Kai's eyes flashed with surprise, and he cupped his hand. "Young Master is still young yet mature beyond his years, it makes this old man ashamed."

"Haha, Principal must be joking. I still have a long way to go." Jason smiled.

Bam!

At this moment, the gate was opened and another group of people arrived.

"Huh? Elder Gu Yan, Teacher Ye Kai, and Director Yang Xin, you're here too."

Looking ahead, they saw Ye Zong, Ye Shuo, Ye Ziyun, and Xue Yin walking inside.

"You little brat sure had grown wings. Dare to make a move against Young Master Nie Li without even informing me. Do you know how much effort I put into inviting him to become a teacher at the Institute?" Ye Kai immediately sprung into action as if planned beforehand, yelling at Ye Zong.

Ye Zong like a young child stood in his place with his head down.

Jason just shook his head with a smile, looking at the funny scene in front of him.

"Apologize to Young Master Nie Li right this instant."

"I..." Ye Zong seemed to be having some trouble. With his status, how could he apologize to anyone, especially a junior?

Jason smiled and waved his hand. "No need for that. He is still the City Lord. Being suspicious of a genius that appeared out of nowhere, even I'll suspect him."

Ye Shuo stepped forward, saying solemnly. "It's as young master Nie Li said. I've carefully read all the information dozens of times. You have a Cyan soul realm, your soul force was 78 two years ago. Even if you've heaven-defying talent it was still impossible for you to reach Black gold rank in just two years. Well, I can still think that it was because of your esteemed master but still it feels impossible."

"And what if I faked my result?" Jason cocked an eyebrow.

"I consider it too. But how can it possible for others to not feel any change in you?" Ye Shuo followed.

"I understand your point. But I have a few secrets of mine which I can't tell and it's best if you don't pry into it further. Every relationship, however absurd or great, needs a certain sense of trust. Lack of it can lead to misunderstandings just like between us. I've no interest in harming you or Glory City. I'm just a little more knowledgable than others that's all, not a spy or anything of the sort." Jason chuckled.

Ye Zong nodded his head, his face serious. "Indeed. It's a mistake on our part. And we'll do everything in our power to make up for it."

"If I were you then I'll have let my actions do the talking than just mere words."

"Do you not believe in the words of the City Lord?" Xue Yin asked.
