Wayfaring Stranger

Chapter 28: Lily & Fleur (Short)

Fleur Delacour had never felt such annoyance at a man before in his life. She was a veela, men flocked to her. So when she made eye contact with him she shuddered when her magic reacted to his gaze. His sea green eyes met her own and she blushed.

'Fleur Delacour does not blush!' She cursed silently in her head.

She had pushed her allure out directly at the dark haired boy only for him to look away from her as if uninterested. When she took her seat in the hall she saw him sit next to a red haired woman who rivaled her in looks alone. She watched the two laugh and share a kiss.

'No wonder he doesn't notice me. He's already spoken for.'

She sighed, she was a veela. She didn't steal men from other women despite what the stories said. She pushed the greasy English food around on her plate, her appetite lost at the food choices. She felt someone approach and stiffened when she recognized the voice that addressed her.

"Hope this seat isn't taken."

'He speaks French too, if only…'

"No, help yourself."

"You know it's rude to try and charm men with girlfriends."

She tensed, prepared for the man to attack her. When no attack came she turned to face him.

"I apologize Monsieur, that was not my intention."

"Oh? What was your intention with my boyfriend then?"

She winced when the red haired woman took a seat on her opposite side.

"Lily, be nice. She said she didn't mean it."

"Shut up Theo, you're only saying that because she's pretty."

'Theo' grinned at his girlfriend. "Your words not mine love. Well as much as I'd love to have this conversation I have Charms first. Flitwick wants me in early to help with a demonstration. I'll catch you later, love."

He leaned over Fleur to kiss Lily, the French veela couldn't help but to feel her hormones spike at the close proximity.

'Merde! Why is this happening?'

She watched as the strangely attractive man disappeared. Lily smiled at her, she could feel no malice in the smile but her instincts told her otherwise. Fighting every urge to run away she returned the smile while thinking of a way to escape from the situation.

"Let's have a little chat Fleur Delacour."

'How does she know my name?'

Lily stood up while dragging her out of the hall ignoring all the glances the other students sent their way. She was dragged to an empty classroom before Lily closed the door and threw up a privacy ward.

"I think I'm attracted to you."

"What?" Fleur felt shock and confusion fight for dominance.

"I'll be blunt and say it. I. Might. Be. Attracted. To. You. Never would I have ever thought that I would be attracted to a woman but here I am. Apparently your allure only works on people that can be attracted to you."

"That is how the allure works, how do you know this?"

"Theseus told me."

"Theseus?"

"Oh yes, you haven't heard his full name yet. Theseus Dimiourgos, or Theo as you've heard. My boyfriend and the resident prat."

"Yes I am sensing that he can be a… prat?" The word felt strange in her mouth. "But why tell me this?"

"Because Theo is a prat. He told me that he wouldn't mind watching us snog."

Fleur wrinkled her nose. "Tell me he isn't like other men."

"Thankfully no, he isn't. Though I can't help but to feel like I'm not enough for him."

"Why?!" Lily looked taken back by her outburst. "You're gorgeous, no? Men must have been falling over themselves to chase you."

"One other guy, and he had been dosed with love potions since our first year. Unfortunately I'm not a pureblood so people in this world look at me as less than dirt."

"I- as veela I can relate to these things. People see me as a creature and not a woman. They'd rather have me as a slave than a wife"

"They don't know what they're missing." Lily couldn't stop herself before the words flew out of her mouth, she blushed looking at Fleur hoping the French witch didn't notice.

"Thank you Lily, as I've said you are also quite gorgeous. Had I not spoken to you, I would have mistaken you for a fellow veela."

"I'll take that as a compliment."

"Good, do not let them tell you otherwise."

"I'm sorry Fleur, I wanted to confront you for something you have no control over. In reality I'm not sure if what I feel is the result of your allure or what I actually feel myself."

"Think nothing of it, I do not blame you. The allure has been one of the many things that I wish I could get rid of."

"Well, what now?"

"We can start as friends, see where it goes from there?"

"I would like that."
