We Married in a Flash After One-Night Stand

Chapter 14: Chapter 14 Have We Met Somewhere Before?

On the way, Xia Zhi went to the restroom, and when she came out, she was drying her hands and saw He Jinhong who had just finished a phone call not far away.

She threw the ball of paper towel she had in her hand into a nearby trash can and saw He Jinhong looking at her. She smiled politely and walked toward him.

"Big brother, I'm going in first," she nodded slightly and was about to pass by him.

"Sister-in-law, wait a moment," He Jinhong called out to her with a faint smile.

Xia Zhi stopped in her tracks and looked at him puzzled, unable to guess what he wanted to talk about.

He Jinhong, with one hand in his pocket, stood in front of her. His gaze was intense yet his voice was soft and gentle as he asked, "Sister-in-law, have we met before?"

"Ah?"

Xia Zhi involuntarily let out a confused sound at this cliché pickup line, slightly taken aback. But seeing his refined demeanor, she knew he was merely asking sincerely.

She thought carefully and replied, "Big brother, I don't think we've met before. Someone as exceptional as you, I would have remembered if we had met."

He Jinhong touched his nose and chuckled lightly, "Then I might have remembered wrong, don't misunderstand, sister-in-law."

"Not at all." Xia Zhi also responded with a light laugh and pushed open the door to the private room first.

He Jinhong followed her inside.

After dining, the group left the private room.

Xia Zhi and He Jinnan were walking at the back. In a low voice, she mentioned to him, "Jiarui just said that she wants to go sit at a bar later, and she wants us to come along too."

He Jinnan frowned slightly but asked her, "Do you want to go? If you want, we could sit there for a bit."

"Jiarui mentioned that you don't like the noise at bars, so maybe we should go home," Xia Zhi considerately suggested.

He Jinnan smiled indifferently, "It's rare to get together like this. Let's not spoil the fun. It's also good for you to connect more with them."

Just then, He Jiarui came over and, holding He Jinnan's arm on his other side, said with a giggly laugh, "Brother, come with us to the bar."

He Jinnan looked down at his younger sister and, imitating her tone, nodded and agreed, "Then let's go sit for a while."

The group left the restaurant, got into their cars, and headed for the largest bar in the city.

They purposely chose a secluded booth, ordered drinks, chatting here and playing games there.

Xia Zhi joined He Jiarui and He Jiabi in a dice game. Since she had never played before, she lost several rounds in a row and ended up drinking quite a few penalties, her face quickly turning a flushed red.

He Jiabi shook the dice cup, mocking, "Can't even play such a simple game? How boring."

Xia Zhi looked at her scornfully smiling and glanced at He Jiarui with some embarrassment.

"Cousin, it's okay if our sister-in-law hasn't been to a bar before, she doesn't know how to play. Let's play something else," He Jiarui intervened to ease the situation.

He Jiabi shrugged indifferently, lifted her glass, and said, "Not playing anymore, it's boring." With that, she downed the drink in her glass.

He Jiarui turned to Xia Zhi and smiled playfully, "Ignore her, let's you and I play."

Xia Zhi gave her a grateful look and then said, "Jiarui, I need to go to the restroom." After saying that, she got up and left first.

He Jiabi rolled her eyes at Xia Zhi and complained to He Jinnan across the table, "Jinnan, your delicate wife really can't make a public appearance."

"Let it be, sister. See it and don't say it." He Jinyan responded with a hint of mockery.

Ever since He Jinnan's true identity was exposed at the age of twelve, this pair of siblings from his uncle's house had started to distance themselves from him, and as they grew up, seeing him constantly under He Jinhong, they held him in less regard.

Before He Jinnan could reply, He Jinhong somewhat disgruntledly spoke up, "Jiabi, Jinyan, how can you talk like that? Don't you have any respect for the second eldest?"

This pair of siblings looked down on He Jinnan and reserved their flattery for He Jinhong. Thus, when He Jinhong spoke to reprimand them, neither dared to retort.

He Jinnan looked at the siblings and said with a slightly lowered voice, "Xia Zhi is just very well-behaved and has never come here to play before. It's not that she can't be presentable. Cousin, your words are a bit too harsh."

He Jiabi shrugged her shoulders dismissively and said no more.

He Jinnan said, "Brother, I'm going to check on Xia Zhi, and then we'll head back first."

"Why the rush? Jinxing is on his way here," He Jinhong persuaded.

"Next time, I have to work tomorrow," He Jinnan finished speaking and stood up to leave.

Watching him leave unhappily, He Jiarui couldn't help but want to make a snide comment again but closed her mouth when swept by He Jinhong's stern gaze.

He Jinnan waited outside the restroom until Xia Zhi came out, then took her hand and walked out.

Walking beside him, Xia Zhi asked, "Are we leaving first?"

"Yep." He Jinnan replied faintly, "I don't want you to feel uncomfortable sitting there. Jiabi just speaks without thinking, don't take it to heart."

Xia Zhi said, "It's okay for me, just don't let them make a laughingstock of you because of me."

He Jinnan turned his head to look at her, smiled, and shook his head.

After they got home, it was already late. Both of them washed up, said goodnight to each other, and then went back to their own rooms to rest.

Xia Zhi lay in bed playing with her mobile phone, letting her thoughts wander. Soon, her eyelids grew heavy, and she fell asleep.

A sound in the quiet living room did not wake her.

In a private room in Zi Guang Garden, a table of people were seated, but no one touched the dishes that had just been served.

Fu Yunshan looked at the time and muttered, "Why hasn't Brother Jinnan arrived yet?"

Yan Zihang, playing with his phone, jokingly said, "He must be busy coaxing his little wife to sleep before he can come. Just wait."

Fu Yunshan did not appreciate the comment and snorted coldly.

Zhao Zhuoyuan asked Yan Zihang, "Did you handle the surveillance and bugging planted by He Jinhong in Jinnan's house?"

Yan Zihang smiled dismissively, very pleased, and said, "Don't worry, what He Jinhong is supposed to see and hear has been accomplished. My men are not vegetarians. Despite him hiding the surveillance in Jinnan's house, who actually controls it? My people."

Gu Chen nodded from the side. "Previously, Jinnan turned the tables and staged a good show for He Jinhong, which indeed made him less suspicious."

"It benefited that Ms. Xia," Fu Yunshan still grumbled unhappily.

The three men glanced at each other at her jealous tone, but no one said anything.

Only He Jinnan could handle this little Princess's temper.

At that moment, the door to the private room opened, and He Jinnan strode in, taking the head seat.

"You finally made it. If not, the Little Princess was about to storm your house," Yan Zihang put away his phone, sat upright, and teased.

He Jinnan didn't seem to care much and asked him, "Did you handle the surveillance matter?"

"Yep." Yan Zihang dropped his jesting tone and earnestly responded, "I took special care to temporarily jam the surrounding signals until they remove all surveillance, and then it will be restored."

He Jinnan nodded, then looked at Zhao Zhuoyuan, "How are the talks going with Hong Yuan Biology?"

He wore a look of strategic scheming, a stark contrast to the humility he displayed in front of He Jinhong and the others.
