Big Guns Good
"All weapons, fire at will!" I ordered.
Damn, I always wanted to say something like that.
Lea activated the weapon systems and the first guns to fire were the High Intensity Lasers.
I'm just going to point out that the five main guns of this ship were meant to be used to combat ships that were at least in the C Class. It's even effective against ships that are in the E Class as well.
What I'm trying to say is that using them on A and B Class ships could be said to be a complete overkill.
That's why it wasn't surprising to see that the laser practically disintegrated the two ships that it was aimed at, wiping them out from existence just like how the first ship had been.
The remaining five of the pirates scattered, hoping that they might be able to flank us and avoid getting shot by our cannons.
I watched as those small ships started flying towards us, taking advantage of their smaller size and manoeuvrability to move in weird patterns to avoid getting shot by our ship.
At this point, I was thinking that Lea might switch from using our main guns to the secondary guns. More specifically, I was expecting her to be using the autocannons or even the missile launchers since those would be perfect for a situation like this.
Instead, our autocannons and missile launchers remained dormant and Lea seemed to be determined to only use the main guns to shoot down the small ships.
That's really overkill, Lea… This is like using a cannon to kill a fly…
Still, I let her do what she wanted and Lea took a moment to aim the turret before firing a shot from the rail gun.
The kinetic shell was fired from the railgun and hurtled towards seemingly empty space.
I had thought Lea missed her shot there, only for one of the pirates to suddenly fly into its path and end up being obliterated by the kinetic shell.
That wasn't even the end as another ship was right behind the first one and tried to turn away. Unfortunately for the pirate, it was too late as the shell pierced through its chassis and ripped the ship into pieces.
Another ship hadn't been paying attention and flew directly into the railgun's shot. They only realised the danger at the last moment and tried to spin their ship out of the way, only for the shell to blow through the back half of the ship and send it rolling uncontrollably into the void of space.
Oh damn… Did she really analyse the pirates' flight patterns and predict where they would fly before lining up a shot to take out not just one but three of them?
Ok, I mean… I've seen her do it before with the Verlandi but she's now firing a much bigger gun at a smaller target you know?! This is insane! Just how is she able to be that good of a sharpshooter?!
With just a single shot, there were only two pirates left from the five and they were obviously having second thoughts about engaging us since we literally just wiped out their entire fleet with just three shots.
Lea did not give them any time to consider any further because she fired the other railgun which was quickly followed by the other High Intensity Laser in quick succession, completely wiping out the pirates from existence.
She leans back in her seat and lets out a soft sigh, prompting me to turn to her with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't you think that was a little overkill, Lea?"
She turned to tilt her head at me, "Is it, Mistress? I tried to take as few shots as possible to preserve our ammunition."
"Yeah… But you're using our main cannons… The cost for the ammunition of those guns are much higher than the cost of the ammunition for the smaller guns. Not that we can't afford it but if you want to save money, that's not the way to do it…"
She actually looked surprised by my words, "E… Eh? Is that so, Mistress?"
Ries nodded from across the bridge, "Firing a single round of the railgun would be more than the cost of firing a few hundred rounds from our autocannons, Lea… I'm surprised you didn't know that…"
"I… I apologise Mistress… Before this, I was told to take as few shots as I could by my previous crew and I'm used to doing that… If you want me to…"
I waved my hand, "It's alright. As I said, we can afford it and it's really a marvel to watch you do that so I don't mind. But you don't need to hold back on this. Feel free to activate the automatic targeting systems instead of trying to take everything upon yourself~"
"I'll… I'll keep that in mind, Mistress. Thank you."
Amber looked out of the bridge in the direction of the destroyed pirate ships, "Yeah… You might want to use the smaller guns next time actually… We'd have nothing to loot if the big guns were to completely destroy those ships that we can't even loot them."
Lea actually flushed a little, "Understood… I will be more careful of that in the future."
I kind of agreed with Amber's words so I decided not to say anything and merely announced that I would be setting a course for Linc station now.
All of them settled in as I manoeuvred the ship to point towards Linc Station and started up the Travel Drives.
There was a longer wind up time as compared to the Verlandi which was normal for a ship of this size but soon enough, our ship was accelerating through space at incredible speeds towards our destination.
It would take us about three days to reach our destination so right now, we had time to kill.
I turned to the others, "You girls can go ahead to take a break. I'll take the first shift in manning the bridge."
Lea turned to me, "Shouldn't we be the ones to do it first, Mistress? It was Amber and yourself that not only went into the station to deal with the pirates but also looted the pirate's ship as well? You should be the one taking a break first."
"I think it's fine though? It's not like you two were exactly taking a break since you had to keep a lookout for any threats outside as well."
Ries pouted, "I agree with Lea though, Boss… It's ok, I know the controls so you can go ahead and take a break first."
I saw that they had a look on their faces that said they would not accept any complaints and I figured that it would be better to just accept their suggestion.
"Alright, alright. I need to go look for that tracker the pirates placed in the drugs as well anyway. Maybe I can also make some snacks for all of us while I'm at it. I kind of want to test the kitchen out as well."
Ries salivated at the thought, "Ehehehe~ Would boss be using fish?"
I grimaced, "Probably not… I'll leave that for our dinner tonight."
Ries's ears drooped slightly before it perked up again, "Anything Boss makes is delicious anyway!!"
Lea nodded, "We would be happy with anything you make, Mistress."
I chuckled, "Alright, I'll whip up something nice, just wait for it. Come on Amber, we should go and look for the tracker first."
She skipped to my side, "Of course~ Let's go!"
Huh… She seems a little more excited for this than I thought she would be.
I mean… I'm just going to check the boxes to look for the tracking device… I guess she's just happy to spend time with me or something.
With Amber wrapping herself on my arm, we left the bridge and went back to the cargo hold to inspect the loot we took from the pirates.
"Alright… Where do we start?" I asked, looking at the boxes in front of us.
Amber giggled, "How about you start over there and I'll start over here? We'll need to push ourselves deep into those packets to search for what we are looking for after all~ Maybe we might even need to… Ehehe… Push down some of the boxes~"
That's a weird way of saying it… But I guess I'll just start over there like she suggested.
I separated from her and went over to open one of the boxes, digging through the packets of drugs to look for anything suspicious that might be hidden inside.
I was quite focused on my work so I didn't really pay attention to what Amber was doing. But after taking everything out and finding no tracking devices so that I could put everything back in, I wanted to ask Amber if she had any luck.
When I looked up at her, I realised she was bent over a box with her bottom facing me, but her pants had been taken off and even her underwear as well, leaving her completely bottomless.
Eh? Why is she… Oh wait… She wanted me to push her down when we came back to the ship…
Right, I guess I should get right to it.
