Reon looked at the system panel for some time before coming back to his sense.

"What? How can I get this?" he questioned himself.

He glanced at the system panel once more to confirm his observations, yet the display remained unchanged.

In disbelief, he pinched himself, questioning whether this was merely a dream. However, he grappled with uncertainty, pondering if he had been ensnared in a dreamlike state all along.

How had he entered a world he had only encountered in a book, where everything felt astonishingly real—even the pain he endured? It was as if this body had transformed into his true self.

This realm felt like an entirely different existence, and the novel he had been reading appeared to be nothing more than a tome of destiny for the inhabitants of this world.

It was as though some celestial being was meticulously scripting their futures, perhaps to alleviate their own boredom.

However, he recognized that this was implausible; there were far deeper secrets lurking beneath the surface.

How could a novel manifest into reality? Why was he inhabiting someone else's body? What had become of his original form? Was his body lifeless within the confines of his apartment?

Even if his body lay lifeless within the apartment, no one would arrive to inter his remains until the rent collector came in five days to collect the overdue payment for the apartment he had neglected to pay for the past three months.

Though he was uncertain whether the rent collector would inter his remains or exploit his body for parts.

"System," Reon muttered, his patience wearing thin, "isn't it about time you explain everything to me?"

[..]

"So, you're just going to play dumb, huh?"

[..]

"Damn it! Say something, you bastard!"

Although he had lived his previous life as a failure, at least it had not been fraught with imminent danger at every turn. Here, however, he could even perish at the hands of a Spirit Chicken.

Yet, a small corner of his heart urged him to embrace life in this world, where the powerful could wield their will unopposed while the weak were crushed like mere ants. The greater the peril one faced, the stronger one became.

That corner of his heart urged him to embrace the danger and cultivate strength. He had not forgotten the vow he had made to himself.

.

[Ding! The Host has to seek Truth Himself. The Heaven Favors those who choose their own Destiny.]

[This system will be just a guidance in choosing that Destiny.]

.

After contemplating for a considerable time, Reon nodded resolutely. Having arrived in this world, he resolved to live his life to the fullest, unburdened by the opinions of others.

This time, no one—be they gods or King Yama—could usurp his freedom or the well-being of his loved ones.

"For all of that, I need strength," he murmured, clenching his fist tightly.

.

Reon's gaze hardened as he turned his attention back to the system, his mind still buzzing with questions. The skill he'd received wasn't just any ordinary skill—it was something far beyond what he had expected.

It was the very same skill the main character from Rising of the Supreme Sword Immortal had obtained from his system after completing a major quest in the latter part of the novel.

Reon remembered that moment vividly—the scene when the protagonist, after a grueling journey filled with relentless battles and hardships, had finally been rewarded with the Identify skill.

Yet, it wasn't praised as a Growth-type skill, but rather as an Epic-grade skill.

In this world, Growth-Type skills and weapons are the most coveted assets. They possess the unique ability to enhance in potency as the user's strength increases.

Moreover, by fulfilling certain conditions, one can also unlock additional abilities associated with a growth-type skill.

That was why he felt so astonished. Even the main character of this world had failed to acquire the Growth-Type "Identify" skill after completing the Main Scenario Quest, despite being a Child of Heaven.

Yet here he was, with the worst of luck, receiving this Growth-Type skill as a novice gift without exerting much effort.

He couldn't help but wonder if he had exhausted a lifetime's worth of luck in this singular moment.

Regardless, it was fortunate that he had acquired something immensely valuable. With the assistance of "Identify," he could discern whom he should engage in conflict with.

Even if he couldn't perceive the status of higher-realm cultivators, the error margin of "Identify" would still indicate that they were individuals not to be trifled with.

Moreover, as he enhanced his strength, he could potentially elevate "Identify" to a Mythical or even Saint-Grade skill.

Following subsequent upgrades, he would also be able to assess his opponents' skills. It was truly a win-win scenario, and he remained unaware of the full capabilities of the extra skill associated with "Identify" He felt a surge of excitement.

In the last eight years of his life, he had never felt this exhilarated. He pondered whether he could genuinely find happiness in this world.

Closing his system panel, he dressed methodically, rising slowly from the bed and making his way toward the exit door.

Just as he was about to turn the knob, he heard footsteps approaching his door.
