Chapter 55: The Arrival of the Ogre
In her fierce dragon form, Elena sprinted straight for the human combat frontline.
Behind the human, a bed of crossbow had been bound up, the crossbowman adjusted its angle, and with a roar, the three-meter-long crossbow arrow was set off the string and shot at Elena.
A wooden stake appeared before Elena as her hands surged with natural energy.
The three-meter-long arrow went straight to the wrong handle. She walked around the stake and went on. The stake summoned by magic disappeared, and the arrows fell on the beach sand.
Jax pulled up a massive fireball and threw it in Elena's direction, halfway through an ice arrow flew towards it and detonated it in advance.
Amos, Felicia, and Willy flew up to the sky against Gandalf and Jax. Without further ado, both parties went straight to the point.
Amos went for Gandalf while Felicia shielded Willy with her divine magic and confronted Jax and dragged him out.
Amos and Gandalf faced each other since they fought a few times before, they knew each other well.
One was a highly skilled weapon master and the other was a dragon-shaped artillery cartridge with infinite Ice ammunition. There was nothing anyone could do about it.
One was a family guest, as long as he protected Bruce, the Earl couldn’t say anything to him. The other was the White Dragon Lord, who just wanted to win. There was no reason for either of them to risk their lives. Of course, if there was a chance they’d not mind killing each other.
They couldn’t continue staring, Gandalf took the lead and flew towards the white dragon.
However, Amos didn't want to face him head-on, the White Dragon Lord avoided actual confrontation; his fingertips shot a ray of light.
Demon-breaking light!
Gandalf, as agile as a monkey, dodged the Demon Light and continued towards the white dragon.
After being entangled for a while, Gandalf felt that the flying magic equipment was not up to par. It would be bad if he was caught by the white dragon, knocked out by the broken light of the demon, and fell from the sky.
After this thought, he went down and stopped at a low altitude. As long as he could prevent the white dragon from stepping into the battlefield and slaughtering the average soldiers of Bailey City, his mission would be accomplished.
On the other side of the battlefield, Jax stopped the two, he played vigorously with Willy and Felicia and had a slight advantage.
While Amos circled Gandalf, the dragon breath simmering in his mouth, and he looked for an opportunity to attack.
Gandalf was a little impatient to see the white dragon circling in the sky. In the midst of this Amos suddenly accelerated and sprayed a mouth full of dragon breath towards Jax.
Jax was shocked, in a panic, he couldn't entirely avoid the dragon's breath. The magic shield instantly burst after being assaulted by the dragon's breath. Seeing that the second defensive magic was about to collapse, the ring in Jax's hand flashed a magic light, and he appeared 100 meters away.
At this point, Jax’s hair and beard were covered with white frost, his face was blue, and his lips were trembling. He hurriedly buffed himself with a magic shield, and glanced at Gandalf reproachingly, and was then forced to stand up with Willy.
Gandalf's heart was broken when seeing this. Why didn't he always play the cards the normal way?
Gandalf dared not be played by the White Dragon Lord any longer and rushed to deal with him. The white dragon took the advantage of the speed and pressed against him.
On the battlefield beneath, high-ranking Murloc professionals fought a fierce battle with Elena leading them against the human powers headed by Viscount Oliver. However, higher-level human professionals remained.
Bruce calculated in his mind that it would be better to put some of the remaining high-level forces into the dragon and defeat the enemy's vital forces more effectively in front instead of gaining a substantial advantage in a short period of time.
So he immediately ordered the remaining high-level professionals to join the battle while shrinking the line of defence, the soldiers took turns on the field, with the advantage of high-level combat power, they held off the Murlocs attack.
Moreover, as the heir to the Earl, Bruce had many kinds of different scrolls. Although the magic scroll had little influence on the general situation in this kind of large-scale battle, it could also change the direction of a confined battlefield.
When the battle went down, Bruce immediately saved the situation with a scroll, making the whole event become a meaningless war of attrition.
The battle lasted for two hours. The corpses of human soldiers, Murlocs, and sea beasts covered the beach. Later, people almost stamped on the corpses of their predecessors in the fighting.
Amos looked at the panting Gandalf. Although Amos had sufficient magic power, after a long battle, his spirit was slightly exhausted.
Looking at the battlefield below, Elena was besieged by a human expert, had a few wounds on her body, and was surrounded by a circle of corpses. The corpses were crushed into the mud by the enormous volume of the white dragon and were mixed with sand, causing casualties in both higher-order combat forces.
After a long journey, the average Murlocs in the fierce battles had already reached their spiritual threshold, and humans on battleships were more focused than Murlocs. If they continue to fight, they may suffer heavy casualties.
Amos pulled back from Gandalf with a dragon's breath and issued the command: "Retreat!"
The Murloc army hurriedly retreated to the sea.
Upon seeing this, Bruce shouted: "We have won! Warriors! Chase!"
The morale of the human soldiers soared sky, and they chased and hunted down the Murlocs until they reached the shallow waters of the beach, leaving a few more corpses behind.
The soldiers stood in the knee-level seawater, tossed their black hats, cheered, and celebrated their hard victory. The beach was full of noise, diminishing the negative emotions brought from a series of failures.
Bruce watched all of this with a smile on his face. Even though he was behind bars, the cheers of victory were still a good way to boost morale.
In the sea, Amos looked at the cheering humans on the shallows. The magic in his body surged, setting off a three-meter-high wave and rushing to the beach. The cheers of the soldiers stopped abruptly, and the human mage cast a spell to stop the wave.
Bruce gritted his teeth in anger, this damn White Dragon was always unpleasant!
After being frightened by the White Dragon, Bruce also ordered his people to retreat, afraid that the White Dragon would suddenly start an attack.
Bruce's heart bled at the dilapidated state of the battleship, which was all the family properties saved by previous counts, and now they were nearly half damaged. However, fortunately, the Death Whisperer was fine.
Bruce observed the tragic battlefield and the broken warship that had lost its value as a shelter. He immediately ordered the recovery of resources and moved the line of defence to the woods on the island.
At this time, a soldier's stomach growled with hunger, and Bruce cast his eyes on the battlefield. The snapping turtles and claw crabs that fell on the ground were so tempting, and the ingredients were available!
In the sea, Old Blind gritted his teeth as he watched the human drag the corpses of his favourite warriors into the forest. Amos on the side also felt the same way that it was Bruce who was demonstrating to himself.
"Old blind, you take people to find food, they won't be proud of it for long."
When the sun was about to sink into the horizon, a black spot appeared on sea level, the Ogres arrived on the backs of the Ramos tortoises!
The Murlocs on the bottom of the sea emerged one after another, revealing their heads. After eating and taking a few hours of rest, the Murlocs regained their spirits and couldn't wait to get into battle.
Garu: "Master! Where is the enemy?"
Ghoul: "Ghoul is going to smash their heads!"
White Dragon looked at the darkening sky and said in a low and ethereal voice: "Be patient, my loyal servant, human beings are like blind monkeys at night. We need to wait."
At night, due to visual reasons, the combat effectiveness of human soldiers would be weakened by at least 30%.
Ogres and Murlocs have low-light vision and wouldn't be affected much.
Not to mention the white dragon, a unique creature like the giant dragon did not need light at all to see things.
In the woods, by the fire, Bruce frowned after hearing the sentinel's report.
Hundreds of armoured Ogres!
Bruce sighed.
It won't be an easy night!!
