Why Am I a Priestess When I Reach the Maximum Level?

Chapter 47

Chapter 46: Stick Your Head Over Here and I’ll Give You a Buff

Liliya was quite bright; she could sense things that Vilyric had noticed.

Princess had always assumed, like everyone else, that Antonio Stevenson had already fallen, yet Hua was clearly privy to many insider details and had never mentioned them to her.

I wasn’t sure if it was because she feared that knowing about the Throne of Immortality would affect Liliya’s determination to come here, or if she simply didn’t want to share her secrets.

Hua had used Liliya, and the latter had realized this fact just after hearing the earlier conversation.

However, Princess didn’t feel angry. Though she felt somewhat uncomfortable, Hua had genuinely put in her best effort to help her, apart from hiding some private matters that didn’t significantly impact the war.

In fact, before meeting Vilyric, Miss Fiery Blossom, the legendary adventurer, had been Liliya’s greatest reliance and support.

Perhaps after everything was over, Princess would privately complain to her, but for now, Liliya definitely aimed to support her dear friend fully.

“Ugh… Sister Vilyric, do you think Hua can win? That’s Antonio Stevenson we’re talking about…”

“I don’t know, Liliya, do you hope she wins?”

“Heh… Naturally, but right now, I seem to lack the energy to help her.”

While they were speaking, two figures, wrapped entirely in white cloth, making it impossible to discern their faces or bodies, had surrounded Liliya and the others.

It was obvious they radiated legendary power—no doubt, they were the Throne.

Adding to that, the terrifying assassin who had previously ambushed Liliya—only Vilyric had been able to foresee this—was now one of four supposed enemies with the identity of the Throne.

Clearly, they were well-prepared and had ample force: four legendary beings, along with the approaching Beastman army, could easily keep Liliya and her group here.

“Don’t you have anything to say?”

Liliya raised her sword.

“Nothing much…”

“…How straightforward.”

“What we want is…”

“…only your life.”

The two figures, resembling mummies from Blue Star, spoke in almost identical voices, finishing each other’s sentences like they were two bodies sharing one soul.

But Vilyric could see that even if this were the case, they were two genuine legendary fighters.

“Is that so? Then I suppose I have no choice but to take you down.”

Liliya narrowed her beautiful eyes; she was no longer that girl who could only use three basic skills a few days ago.

After the battle that burned down supplies, once the princess woke up, she found she could learn almost all skills below level 20, experiencing a significant leap in her level.

Just as Vilyric had predicted, battle could elevate the life forms of this world.

Though from a basic stats perspective, Liliya was only around the standard of refined gold, the Apex Ascension Box continuously enhanced her overall attributes; combined with a perfect skill system in Illusory World, Vilyric assessed that “taking down one or two Earth-level foes shouldn’t be an issue.”

Even if the enemies were legendary, with so many subordinates and Vilyric’s assistance, Liliya didn’t believe they would lose.

However, it was clear that a certain priestess had different thoughts.

“Leave these two guys and that mouse hiding off to the side to me. Liliya, you’ve got more important things to handle.”

Just when the princess was eager for battle, Vilyric suddenly stepped in front of her.

“Ah?”

“What ‘ah’?! Did you forget why we’re here? The magic circle and supplies—hurry up! Also, aren’t you supposed to collect evidence? That should be really important to you.”

“…That’s true, but they’re three legendary beings! I know Sister Vilyric is strong, but you’re the type who needs teammates to fully unleash your power, right? I can’t just dump all the pressure on you…”

“Wow, looks like reading wasn’t for nothing; you get it.”

The priestess chuckled nonchalantly, patting her slightly protruding chest. “Actually, the book I gave you only recorded part of my abilities. I’m probably a tad stronger than you think, so don’t worry. And isn’t it the duty of a guard, Miss Employer?”

“But…”

“Stop whining! Ironblood Gladiatorial Arena!”

Golden light suddenly erupted from Vilyric’s chest, wrists, and fingers, converging in front of her before shifting into a blood-like hue.

Then, three streams of crimson light shot out, linking to the two mummy-like figures and a barren spot on the ground.

Zzzzzzt—Miss Princess only heard a strange tearing sound as the black-haired girl and all three enemies vanished from the scene.

“Wait… Ah, they vanished again, good grief… Sister Vilyric, and Hua, please be careful…”

Liliya had only just begun to scratch the surface of the skill system within Illusory World, so she had no idea what this skill was about. But at this point, all she could do was pray for the two battlefields while doing her utmost to handle her responsibilities.

This was an incredibly large—ridiculously so—giant red-black arena, the entire space being void except for this one spot to stand on.

Vilyric was extremely familiar with this place—so much so that she was nearly sick of it. When she was learning a certain skill, she had dragged in one dark elemental lord after another, mechanically repeating the same process a thousand times…

Ironblood Gladiatorial Arena

Strictly speaking, this wasn’t a skill or something from the skill tree available in Illusory World. It was one of the abilities intrinsic to Vilyric’s set of three jewelry pieces: the Blessed Healing Necklace, Guardian Bracelet, and Spirit’s Aid Ring—this semi-artifact combination.

The effect: specify no more than ten enemy entities and drag them with the user into an independently existing gladiatorial arena space for a deathmatch. Any attack-capable skills or items are prohibited in the arena; summoning is also banned. Support, healing, and defense skills are unaffected.

Once there’s only one individual left alive in the arena, or 24 hours have passed, the space is automatically dissolved.

You heard that right, Ironblood Gladiatorial Arena—a skill that sounds dripping with murderous intent—is actually a purely supportive skill that comes with a set of armor, and you can only escape it by killing someone; otherwise, you’d just be stuck there for a full day.

Ridiculous, right? Actually, there are even weirder things in Illusory World that would make you laugh and cry.

Moreover, while the Ironblood Gladiatorial Arena skill might seem unrelated to the equipment’s attributes, once you actually use it, you realize there’s something to it.

For instance, if Vilyric brings an equally leveled warrior player, at least 70% of their skills would be sealed by this arena’s effects, while she, being specialized in support, would effectively experience no restrictions. Even if both sides couldn’t use attack skills, Vilyric would still have a major advantage.

Some may wonder how you’d fight without skills?

Duh, of course, it’s by just auto-attacking!

So, as the priestess found herself in the center of the arena with two mummies and one assassin who she thought might as well be visible, she wasted no time and swung her priest staff!
