Hawthorne nodded mechanically and followed the attendant through a side hallway in the lobby until they reached a large room covered in a soft, light brown carpet.

In the center of the room hung a lavish chandelier arrangement, burning even in daylight, casting light from dozens of bright circular chandeliers, which seemed wasteful. Below them was a round table with two cups of steaming milk tea, freshly prepared.

On the opposite side of the hall was an even larger wooden door, clearly designed not for humans, but for the passage of a grand Blue Dragon.

"Please have a seat; the Prince will arrive shortly," the attendant said with a respectful bow. "If you have any other requests, please feel free to ask, and we will accommodate them."

"No, thank you." Hawthorne swallowed hard and sat down, continuing in Draconic, "I'll just have the milk tea… uh, could you tell me, as I'm just an ordinary businessman seeking investment, what could possibly warrant the attention of a great Blue Dragon?"

To this, the Blue Dragon kin attendant merely smiled slightly: "The Prince has his own thoughts. The wisdom of the Blue Dragon is vast, beyond our attempts to guess."

Hawthorne fell silent, sighing inwardly. There was no turning back now. He would just have to play it by ear.

As he thought this, he watched the large wooden door in front slowly open, and a Blue Dragon about three meters tall, with a bright yellow horn on its head, walked into the room.

Hawthorne held his breath, his heart rate quickening. It was his first time encountering such a massive carnivorous creature up close without any protective barriers.

The largest animal he had ever been near was an African elephant at a zoo, safely behind a fence.

But this creature was visibly larger than a fully grown bull elephant, and it was a Blue Dragon, a being at the top of the material world's food chain!

Beside him, the Blue Dragon kin immediately bowed slightly: "Greetings, Prince!"

Hawthorne quickly rose and inclined his head slightly, reciting the compliments he had rehearsed in Draconic countless times in his mind: "Nigel Hawthorne, it is an honor to see the ruler of the desert, the pinnacle of the material world, the great Blue Dragon, Prince Rahman."

"At the very first sight of you, I suddenly felt as though all the art I had ever seen was so insignificant compared to your presence!"

His excessively flattering words even caught the attention of the Blue Dragon kin attendant, who thought to himself that this human was well-prepared; such flattery was something he was embarrassed to say himself.

Opposite him, the enormous Blue Dragon nodded gently, appearing to enjoy the flattery: "Have a seat. Yes, the investment you seek will be discussed personally by me."

With that, he lay down at the opposite end of the round table, folding his wings over his back, raising a foreleg to rest his chin, as if deliberately displaying the ten large, radiant gemstone rings on his claws, each radiating an unmistakable magical power.

Hawthorne glanced at them briefly, his heart pounding. Most of the rings were unfamiliar to him, but the two he recognized could not possibly be worth less than ten thousand gold coins each!

Extravagant!

He sighed inwardly and then said, "The honor is mine."

With that, he sat down, mentally encouraging himself: Stay calm, Hawthorne. Remember, as long as you show sufficient respect and acknowledge the Blue Dragons' dominance, they are the easiest dragonkind to deal with, even if they are Evil!

After all, while Metal Dragons might have moral expectations of your behavior, Evil Blue Dragons are entirely unconcerned about that!

Opposite him, the Blue Dragon's golden eyes regarded him with a gentle gaze, as if looking at an old friend after a long absence.

"Tell me about your plan," Rahman said. Hawthorne did not delay, quickly taking his proposal out of his briefcase.

He had made three copies in total, and an attendant took one of them, walked around the table, and placed it in front of Rahman. Once everything was set, Hawthorne steeled himself and began explaining slowly, "The business opportunity I've identified is the Amazons' demand for housing…"

"...Please look at this survey report. We randomly interviewed over four hundred Amazons, and over ninety percent of respondents believe that settling in Liberl Port is beneficial for their further development. The housing prices in other districts are too high for their financial situation, but if affordable housing becomes available in the South Harbor District, they would gladly accept it…"

"...Our team believes that this market has significant economic potential. After data analysis and comparing the growth trajectories of other large enterprises, we can see that Amazon Fisheries Company is still in a high-growth phase. Within the next two years, the number of Amazons with a demand for purchasing property and considerable surplus wealth could increase to a thousand…"

"...Our team believes we should gain an advantage in this market before it gets discovered. Right now, due to the turmoil caused by magical creatures in the South Harbor District, there is public panic, making it a prime time to buy land at low prices…"

"...Of course, our team also believes that before launching large-scale funding, we need to test the waters. Thus, the first phase requires just an eight-thousand-gold investment. If successful, there can be second and third phases…"

The finance industry of this era was far less developed than in his previous life, with none of the seed rounds, angel rounds, or subsequent A, B, C, D rounds of financing.

Although Hawthorne had only a basic understanding, he was previously confident that the knowledge and processes he possessed were excellent methods to protect both investors and fundraisers by the standards of this era—an absolute strategic upper hand compared to others!

However, at this moment...

His speech was enthusiastic, yet across the round table, the Blue Dragon seemed utterly uninterested, merely flipping through the proposal with politeness, as though listening to a boring story.

Thus, his hopes began to sink.

What's going on?

Why does this Blue Dragon look a bit impatient?

Is it because the amount is too small?

But why did he meet me in person?

Where did things go wrong?

He didn't know, and a fine layer of sweat began to form on his forehead. It wasn't until he finished the last page that he took a deep breath and, with a slightly hoarse voice, tentatively asked the Blue Dragon opposite him, "Great Prince Rahman, what do you think of this plan?"

Rahman stifled a barely noticeable yawn; he wasn't truly interested in financial matters. However, that didn't stop him from putting on an enigmatic facade to achieve his own goals: "Mr. Hawthorne, I would like to ask, what price are you willing to pay to secure these funds?"

Hawthorne was taken aback. "You mean… a share of the company?"

"No," Rahman replied, "I mean you, yourself."

Hawthorne frowned slightly, a sense of unease creeping over him. "Forgive me, Prince Rahman, but I'm afraid I don't quite understand your meaning."

"Let's say, hypothetically," Rahman continued, "there is a matron of the Blue Dragon royal family who is very fond of you. She wishes for you to serve her for a period of time. If you manage to please her, you could easily secure an investment far exceeding your original request."

As he spoke, he pinched the relatively petite proposal book between his massive fingers—after all, Hawthorne had expected to deal with Blue Dragon kin tellers, not an actual gigantic Blue Dragon—and then asked, "For instance, fifty thousand gold coins. Would that tempt you?"
