Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Mixed Doubles

A daughter visiting her father, even the FBI had no reason to obstruct.

After all, Old Pym was just sick, nominally under their "special protection."

He had shed blood for the country!

He was a hero, not a criminal! After entering Old Pym's hospital room, Hope sat beside his bed under the watchful eyes of the FBI agents, talking about some of their past fun stories as if she were talking to a child.

Listening to Hope's storytelling, the FBI agents sitting by the wall felt extremely awkward.

This scene was just too melodramatic for them to bear! While seemingly casually recounting their childhood stories to Old Pym, Hope occasionally glanced at the clock on the bedside table.

Clark's repeated instructions echoed in her ears.

"Hope, in the entire plan, the most challenging part falls on you."

"We are constrained everywhere because Uncle Pym is in their hands. No matter what choice we make, we must be cautious."

"Your task is to rescue Uncle Pym from the hospital under FBI surveillance."

"Many covet the Ant-Man suit, and once they get their hands on it, Uncle Pym will have no value to them, and his fate is easy to imagine."

"I am now the focus of various forces. If I appear at the hospital, it will immediately alert all parties. While you will also attract attention, your situation is much better."

"Remember, this operation must succeed, failure is not an option!"

"Every day around 5:30 p.m., a nurse will come to change Uncle Pym's IV fluids. At that time, Hawk-Eye will come to support you."

As the appointed time approached, the door to the hospital room opened as if on cue, and a tall, imposing nurse entered.

It was Hawk-Eye in disguise! Seeing Hawk-Eye, clearly not a woman, pushing a nurse's cart into the room, the FBI agent was utterly confused. He felt like he had gone blind and desperately wanted to find a faucet to wash his eyes.

Meanwhile, Hawk-Eye had already quietly closed the room door, and Hope used ants to block the hospital's cameras.

With everything ready, it was time to act!

At this moment, the unfortunate FBI agent sensed something was wrong and instinctively stood up, only to be greeted by a powerful mixed doubles move from the superhero duo.

Poor FBI agent, although skilled among ordinary people, stood no chance against professionals like Hawk-Eye and Hope. He didn't even manage to sound the alarm before being easily subdued.

First, Hawk-Eye executed a formidable chokehold, followed by Hope injecting him with a prepared sedative.

Thus, the dedicated FBI agent finally got to sleep soundly during work hours.

Then, Hope quickly took out the prepared tools, including a plastic doll dressed like the FBI agent and a large metal box, placing them on the ground.

With a press of a remote, the items instantly enlarged.

The fake agent was positioned in the chair previously occupied by the real FBI agent, and Old Pym was placed inside the prepared metal box. The two hurriedly secured Old Pym's body with belts, then Hope shrunk it down again and handed it over to Hawk-Eye to take away.

Using Pym particles to transport the unconscious Old Pym was undoubtedly adding insult to injury regarding his condition.

However, this was the most secure method Clark could think of.

If Clark's treatment method worked, it could save Old Pym; if not… Well, Clark hadn't considered that scenario.

Because the worst outcome was still better than waiting for death here! As for the sleeping FBI agent, Hope moved him to Old Pym's bed and covered him with a blanket.

Then, the ants blocking the camera dispersed, and Hope, while blocking the camera with her body, put on a fake beard for the FBI agent.

Believe it or not, with a wig and fake beard, this FBI agent looked somewhat similar to Old Pym from a distance.

Satisfied with her handiwork, Hope packed up the makeup box, greeted the plastic substitute agent, and left the room.

Clark's plan was simple, executed flawlessly with Hawk-Eye's noble sacrifice.

Thus, Old Pym was switched out without the FBI noticing. By the time they realized something was wrong during a shift change, Hawk-Eye and Hope had already disappeared with Old Pym.

...

Flowers bloom on both sides, each showing its beauty.

Hope and Hawk-Eye were responsible for the actual rescue, while Clark distracted all parties at the hearing.

By directly revealing the "Ant-Man suit," he focused all attention on himself and the suit.

This allowed Hope and Hawk-Eye's operation to proceed smoothly.

As for the authenticity of the Ant-Man suit?

Of course, it was fake! It was a practice piece Clark made after studying quantum mechanics, lacking its key technological core, making it no different from a regular motorcycle jacket, albeit made from more precious materials.

Aiming to attract the enemy's attention, Clark did not mind dragging the politicians along, playing dumb and delaying as long as possible.

Only after receiving a signal of success from Hope and Hawk-Eye did he lose interest in continuing the politicians' nonsensical discussions. He abruptly interrupted, "The Ant-Man suit is here. After discussing with Hope, we've decided to hand it over to the government for safekeeping until Uncle Pym wakes up to reclaim it."

With that, Clark pushed the suitcase containing the Ant-Man suit forward and left the city hall without looking back.

Clark cooperated by handing over the Ant-Man suit, hitting the politicians' sweet spot but also catching them off guard.

Originally, leaving the hearing easily was not supposed to be simple for Clark. However, their focus was now entirely on the Ant-Man suit in front of them.

Was this Ant-Man suit real?

The officials at the scene were not fools; they wouldn't easily believe Clark's words.

Moreover, Clark's statements when revealing the Ant-Man suit absolved him of any legal responsibility for its authenticity.

So, this so-called Ant-Man suit was likely a counterfeit.

However...

What if it was real?

Compared to figuring out how to deal with Clark, who had cleanly separated himself from them, it was more beneficial to control the dubious Ant-Man suit in their hands.

Thus, Congressman Stern proposed, "I suggest we hand this Ant-Man suit over to the Department of Homeland Strategic Defense, Attack, and Logistics Support for safekeeping. Additionally, we should 'protect' Clark Lee and Hope closely. What do you think?"

As soon as Stern finished speaking, another congressman stood up to oppose, "The Department of Homeland Strategic Defense, Attack, and Logistics Support is not a part of our country's institutions. Hank Pym is a citizen of our country, so I think his belongings should be entrusted to the FBI."

"I think it should be handed over to the CIA..."

Clark, of course, was indifferent to the politicians' squabbles. After leaving the city hall, he immediately sent a signal in the Avengers Alliance group chat.

What followed was shaking off the tails behind him and then dealing with the threat from the Hand.

Times change, and so do circumstances.

The series of events forced Clark to act even before Yi Long's return.
